    If any band is going to be discussed on these videos that isn't Can, it should be The Fall.

    That was around 1972 or 1973, but definitely NOT in 1974... Damo left in September of 1973 around the release of Future Days, and jaki had really shorter hair in 1974... actually, the group started to tour and record as a four-piece in late 1973. But anyway, it's a great clup, and phantastic grooves!

    Nice clip, good song - relaxed and funky. Probably one of Damo's last performances with them. How come these clips on youtube weren't on the DVD? Still, brilliant that it's here.

    no this must have been recorded in 74, otherwise Damo Suzuki wouldn't be there (video zooms in on him at 3:10) as he left the band in late 1974 and retired from music until 1983.

    People really need to stop going to these Can videos and starting arguments about Radiohead. 90% of the comments on Can videos allude to Radiohead. Can influenced EVERYONE. They're as influential to modern music as The Velvet Underground, and Radiohead is only one out of hundreds of bands who've taken cues from Can.

    I think the dates on the videos refer to when the record was released not the date of the video.

  • @NewWaver80014
    @NewWaver80014 Před 11 lety +2

    I guess... although Mark Smith proved himself rather ignorant about Can in interviews while proclaiming to be a huge fan (for example, he said that "The Empress and the Ukraine King" has Damo Suzuki on vocals when in fact the song features Malcolm Mooney).

  • @krollpeter
    @krollpeter Před 9 lety +1

    The song's title is "I am too leise" - I am too quiet.
    If you can't correct it, take it off.

    can definetly tell how can influenced radiohead. especially the singing style. it sounds like thom could be singing the vocals. and radiohead did a cover of can's "the thief" song.

  • @thatmuse76

    • @ezrapound2843

      Limited/Unlimited Edition. It was a compilation of non-album tracks released in 1974 and then reissued as a 2x LP in 76 I think.

  • @NewWaver80014
    @NewWaver80014 Před 11 lety +3

    Damo left Can in September 1973.
    By 1974 he had become Jehovah's Witness and was long gone.

    • @ezrapound2843

      Actually, that's a common misconception. Edinburgh wasn't his last show with the band. Hamburg October 14, 1973 he was still with them but that's the last known recorded show with him as far as I know.

    the key to this debate is in the rhythm section,radiohead are masters of catchy hooks and song writing but the can rhythm section just destroys all that,that mantric repetition business and, oh yeah leave the bass drum dampners at home..
