2:14, the reason why FB has more uni grads coming as DS is that their DS role is more of product analytics role, and that is the really the trend in the valley -- for the traditional, research-oriented role that we come to know as DS, most of them are labeled as a research scientist.

It's not about the degree per se, it's about these crucial courses on stats, calculus, programming. You can take computer science degree with stats minor and focus on specific topics like calculus, linear algebra, python/R programming, software engineering....these are kinda pillers of machine learning.

@@youtubevanced7880 I had began my journey as a math major that had a concentration in data science, however I began to talk to some friends in tech and do some research and I saw the computer science degree with the math classes was preferred. Your comment was confirmation for me. Thank you
