My family had this album in the mid-1960s, and as a kid I listened to it over and over, imagining the scenes from the movie. One of those soundtracks that stands by itself but emphasizes the emotional scenes in the movie for us.
I still remember the impression this fine score made upon me when seeing this Cinerama production at the Casino cinema in Soho, London UK. From the grand opening music that set us on our journey in cinematic "Old West" history to meet all the musical themes,so emotionally deft, that were employed throughout the film. A score that takes its place among the very best from Hollywood - and that's saying something!
