They’ve actually done studies on dog’s brain, and their final emotional development state is eerily similar to that of a 3 or 4 year olds.
How do we know how Bunny defines a word? Seems like a lot of presumption, but something is sure there.
@@Sinclair4220I’ve wondered that as well. I guess it’s the same way we know anything that’s pretty abstract, observing under different circumstances, using what we already know to interpret those observations, and then repeating it (in this case with as many dogs as possible) over and over with the same circumstances, until we feel confident enough we’re right. Which is probably going to take quite awhile. It’s very cool to see the initial stages of learning something new, about animals we thought we understood deeply already. Other than that, I have no idea how the logistics would work here - I’m sure some smart vets and animal behaviorists could figure it out - but getting an MRI of Bunny’s brain. Even a general one would be very interesting to compare. But if they could use cues to induce try to induce emotions and then seeing if the brain activity corresponds… that’d be incredible evidence.
I can’t think of the logistics of a dog in an MRI machine being conscious enough to get an accurate read on emotional cognition without her moving. I also am not sure I could even recommend that ethically without knowing how it could worm. But it’d be awesome if it’s ever reasonably possible. Maybe if they can make the machines not be deafeningly loud lol. That’s probably step 1.
I think Bunny wants to make sure she is still loved. She may be feeling a little insecure with the arrival of her new sibling- just like little kids do.
Seeking reassurance since the arrival of Otter? Leaning so much about Bunny’s thinking, feelings and emotions through her ability to communicate with words.
Bunny is helping me interpret my own dogs' behavior into language. My chihuahua came over, asked to be picked up, gave my arm a couple of cute little licks and fell asleep in the crook of my arm while I was petting her. Pretty sure she was saying, "Love you, Settle please, Scritches, thank you, Love you Mom!:

Oh my heart.... Bunny is just such a beautiful soul.
She is on of the most beautiful innocent souls I have ever seen! I had a pupper that she reminds me of every time I watch her. His name is Thunder and he passed six months ago at age 14. He is/was a Soft Coat Wheton Terrier that was rescued from Brooklyn. We were a foster fail I guess. I'm disabled and he actually taught himself to be my "service dog", so to speak. He just knew when I was going to fall or lose my balance and he was always there. Even before anything happened. He knew before I did. He would stand solid so I could steady myself and get to a place to sit down until it passed. I miss him so much! So Bunny makes me smile and holy cow, that is something I need and cherish when it happens.
Thank you for sharing your life with Bunny like you do.

@@wordzmyth I don't think a dog would have the notion of what a pet is? I'm pretty sure she thinks of the whole family as her pack. Also the owner (I don't remember her name) probably used the words to tell Bunny "cat is family"

For now, she looks insecure and sad. Seems to me that the great issue remains, to fit in, identity - questions about the difference between animal and human, about family and simply belong in a pack. She is not sure about her place. My love to her ❤

I agree. Her eyes are sad. Not sure she is buying into this sibling thing yet. I am sure she will, but it is a big adjustment.
Yes many people projecting happy feelings about otter onto what looks like a anxious bunny. But that is natural, dogs don't automatically welcome in another dog. But bunny's mum has a plan for slowly integrating.
@@wordzmyth Indeed, that's quite annoying people don't consider the context and just project their parental instincts on Bunny. Another dog joined the pack and certainly got more attention than her recently, since they started training him. It's not because she played with Otter 5 minutes that she already accepted him as part of the family.
