- In this Hobby 365 video I will show you how to bind the SLT3 radio. This radio is featured in a number of the horizon hobby vehicles. including some Arrma and Axial models.
Here is my story:
My name is Phillip I have been in the hobby industry for nearly 20 years. My radio-controlled adventure started at a very young age, but began to be a priority soon after my father was inspired to purchase a Traxxas T-max from the monster truck scene of the movie Oceans 11 in 2001. I began entry level part-time work for my local Hobbytown store in the fall of 2002 where I found as much love for the customers as my hobby. In 2016, I took on new challenges when I purchased the store from my employer.
The inspiration for this channel came during the covid-19 mandatory closures and the time I spent reflecting on the years and countless customers who asked me to write a book from my knowledge of radio controlled equipment. The original name of the channel was Hobbied. However I quickly found that CZcams’s search algorithms didn’t like the spelling of the name. So I changed the name to Hobby 365, as in, hobby every day. From day one the goal of this channel was to provide useful information without all yammering that frequently comes with how-to and informational videos.
Many of my video ideas come from viewer suggestions. So if you have any suggestions, comments or questions drop them in the comments section below. I really do try my best to answer them.

great video. I haven't messed with RC's since I was a kid and things kinda went off the charts with them over the last few decades. Yes, it's been that long, so having this video really explains what the hell I need to do to get this thing running. I'm definitely going to give you a thumbs up and subscribe. I bought the Axial build it myself SMT 10 monster truck kit and I'm doing the electronics now. I gotta say its a little confusing. At least with this SLT3 transmitter and receiver, they have decent instructions. Thanks again.
I forgot to mention, cool tool. I buy only Dewalt for most of my electric power tools after welding for 30 years and beating on the Dewalt products. I didn't even know they made that screw driver.
Do you have a video on recalibrating the stock blx100 receiver (arrma senton 3s) and setting endpoints and whatnot? Also aside from that, I'd like to upgrade my senton to the blx120 esc and do this same procedure. Any help is appreciated. I'd like to ultimately run my senton on 4s if possible but I don't wanna get myself in a situation where I'm not able to calibrate the esc or set my endpoints
What does this do to help the rc car? My rc car came with a bind plug dont know to do it b4 i drive or what?

I purchased the typhon 3s and tested the range for it and it was under range than my traxxas slash 2wd vxl. It surpasses the range than the typhon which was odd. What could that be?

Thank fk for you mate I couldn't believe how hard it was to find a video specifically on this.. couldn't believe that .. also if I missed it I'm sorry but will re binding this reset my ESC? Also reason I need to do this is Ive only ever been able to get 10-15mtres before I lose reception and on occasion when that happens I get signal jacked and on occasion just continues to do what I was last doing ie full throttling it 😂.. do you think it might help with reception
I have a brand new mojave and when I put the batteries in yesterday it worked fine . Today I tried setting the steering trim and throttle trim and I now have problems. I still have steering but no throttle though it will go with out me pulling the trigger. Do I need to go through this step as well
Sounds like the Throttle trim is a little out of adjustment. Try zeroing out the trim on the radio. If that doesn't work out try this video czcams.com/video/-HOAP38V8B0/video.html to recalibrate the ESC.

Can you show me a video of binding of slt3 to a slt receiver?
Hey, i just got the senton, and for some reason i just lost steering and throttle in the car, the reciever and esc are flashing red, even before i put the bind plug in, and it will not bind.
Some times when a servo goes bad it pulls so much current that it wants to shut down the receiver. Try unplugging the servo rebinding and see if you have throttle. It might be a defective servo.
I just followed this procedure and the binding worked, but I still have no steering. Arrma Granite.
Hi there. You can try to do a factory reset on the controller. I have a video here: czcams.com/video/balQ_Tdd2lQ/video.html . If this doesn't work then you may have a bad steering servo.
You have a press the Receiver 3 times before it will Bind to any new transmitter.
How would I set up the A/B buttons on the this setup?
There really isn't any set up needed for the slt3. Its a 3 position momentary switch only. meaning when you let it go it returns back to its previous position. The manual mentions that it is used for programing. and that would be a set up for your endpoints of the other channels.
@@Hobby365 I should have mentioned it but I would be using them for the Infraction e brake. And I am using an sr515 receiver. If that helps. Are you saying that they're useless when you're not setting end points?
@@alum1n1umkn1ght3 Not at all. Setting the end points is only one function of the A/B button. The other is operating a servo.
can u bind this remote to another spektrum transmitter?
Spektrum has several different modulations within DSM and SLT. DSM1 is only compatible with itself. DSM2 and DSMR are compatible with each other and SLT is only compatible with its self. This means the SLT radios only bind to Receivers with STL modulation. The only specktrum receiver with STL modulation is some of the later 315 receivers and naturally the SLT receivers will work. None of the DSM radios will bind to an SLT receiver.

@@youtubeuser5424 Ohh I see. There is no way to unbind but a simple rebind is all you need to do to clear out the binding. The reset on the transmitter is really easy I have a video to help you with that. czcams.com/video/balQ_Tdd2lQ/video.html

What's bind used for
Bind is the process that is used to link the controller and receiver.
I need help mine is bonded but not moving any thing on the car
Okay let's see what we can do, I assume you have no steering or throttle? Do you have a solid light on the receiver? The lack of a solid light indicates you are not bound or the plugs in the receiver are upside down.
If you have a light on the receiver make sure the plugs from your steering and throttle are plugged into the correct slots on the receiver.
If you have steering and no throttle. It means you need to calibrate the ESC to the radio. Each ESC has its own calibration process. What ESC do you have.
Are you sure you have a good servo for your steering? As servo that is shorted out will cause a large amp draw and brown out the receiver, You can unplug the servo, then calibrate the ESC if everything works until you plug the servo back in then you know that is your issue.
Last step you can try resetting the radio. Try this video: czcams.com/video/balQ_Tdd2lQ/video.html Hope this helps you out.
It’s good video but I still don’t have throttle only steering fist time trying to bind a controller
Make sure your throttle trim is zero and depending on the ESC you will probably have to calibrate the throttle range.

If you have the sr315 reciever...
You must do this...
Power up the receiver.
Press the bind button three times quickly (within 1.5 seconds). The LED will begin to flash with a pause.
Set the trims and control positions at the desired failsafe settings, and power ON the SLT3 transmitter.
Once your transmitter is bound to the receiver, you'll notice the light goes from flashing orange to a solid orange
Didn't work
This radio is absolute garbage; even the "manual" doesn't explain how to rebind it to a different receiver!

@@alimaleki217 Unfortunately there are restrictions on compatibility between radios and receivers. This is primarily done for liability purposes, but also to protect the patent's on the technology. For the SLT3 radio only receivers with the "SLT" modulation will bind to it.
@@Hobby365 I understand that but how do you switch from one SLT receiver to another SLT receiver? I assume you have to bind it, I can put the receiver in bind mode but how about the radio?
@@alimaleki217 I think I finally understand your trouble. The radio will emit the bind signal ever time you power it on. There is no special process to place the radio into bind mode. However there is no model memory in the radio so will not "remember" all the different models. A rebind and calibration will be necessary every time you switch the model.
