I am sooo proud of you Brian...thank you Senior Brady...without you none of these videos would be possible...it was your young attitude and friendly personality that brought your brother all this...I miss you all.
My wife teaches 4th grade students in Utah. She is dedicated to the children. I don't know how she does this job. I wish I could give her a week like you are experiencing here.
Wow! What an amazing place and awesome video! I live 4 hours West of Brisbane. I've been building a Farrier F22 Trimaran for about 12 years and following you for about the same time. I actually lived 7 hours west of Brisbane when I started building it. If you are going to be at the Santuary Cove Boat Show , I may seriously think about going and will be trying to encourage my daughter to come too!
As a sailor who grew up on a high-aspect rigged ketch, I was originally excited to see a ketch version of Delos II... with a good sized mizzen and a taller main (ours was a 7/8 cutter rig), we never had to reef the main... when that was too much load, we 'reefed' by dropping the main. The 7/8 rig meant the fore triangle was not much higher than the mizzen... well balanced, and a lowered 'lever' on our heel... if it really got dicy we dropped the Yankee and reefed the mizzen... club-footed staysail and a reefed mizzen - on or off wind - handled gale-forces well... Your mizzen is so short, it must be like sailing a yawl... they always drop their mizzens and reef their mains
Pretty amazing even within a group of amazing places. Nice to know such places still exist in this world of ours, and that nice people are out there enjoying it with friends. Cheers.
Hey Brian, just a thought about patching holes in aluminum hull boats. Myself and friends use aluminum hull boats in salt water. Inevitably they seem to get small pin holes. One troublesome spot is where the hull sits on the trailer runners. I think the salt water is trapped creating pinhole. Anyway the point is we use JB Weld to repair the holes. It works great. Just clean up the oxidation and compromised metal tap the hole with a hammer or such so it is not completely flat sand it and JB weld it. Sand when done you can’t even see it. I was thinking I would have it welded at some point, but the JB Weld held for years. If you don’t have any onboard you might think of getting some.
every time i watch yalls videos i just think yalls child will have the best stories to tell just because she has been at sea most her life what a life for a child to get to see so much at a young life a woderful thing
My husband is a huge fan. His birthday is May 19th a retired Coast Guard CWO3 and at 55yrs old he misses the water so much, since we live in Utah, Brain how about a shout out, i think he will see it since he waits for you videos. I'm buying him one of your shirts this year along with German Chocolate Cake his childhood favorite.
Hi guys I am so excited to follow your new build, I like all your changes, Last year I went down to the boat show in Cannes, to have a look at the new Catana Ocean class, I think you should have a look at the aft cockpit. I like the way you can close everything up and make your dry living area much bigger. That would also make sense when you travel in colder climates. and maybe include a mosquito window, Hang loose Mike Denmark
Great episode! It's easy to see why both Delos and WeSail love this anchorage so much, beeches, snorkeling and maybe best of all, peaceful calm waters. It has to be special when you can get multiple nights of good sleep in a row!!
Beautiful spot! I’m jealous. Many years ago we had islands pop up on our favorite cruising lake when the water level dropped in the fall. So many good times with close friends and family as we would stay anchored there for days. We are in upstate New York and over a Labor Day weekend we were witness to an amazing display of a rare Northern Lights show. Those memories never fade after almost 50 years. Envious of your travels and youth!
If you're in Oz between 23-26 May, the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show is a must see for boaties. I have been before, can't make it this year but would if I could. Not as big as Florida or any of the big European shows but there's always new stuff to see. Also, I would love to catch up with you for a beer; my shout. 😀 I'm in Brisbane.
Sanctuary cove boat show is a pretty fancy boat show, so may or may not be your style. But there are plenty of beautiful spots to do a bbq or meet up around the southern bay.
Great spot, we live 1/2 way between Brisbane and Gold Coast on Macleay Island (part of the south Moreton bay islands). Not sure of your plans but our house is available from 5 June. Waterfront, 4 bedroom, kayaks, car, park with playground right next door. If you are interested just let me know.
This atoll is spectacular! I couldn’t imagine a nicer place. How does one work up the nerve to leave it? Sierra is becoming such a wonderful little traveling companion. It is pleasure to see how joyful she is.
Eureka moment for Delos 2.0 while watching you dodge bommies, how about a camera up on top of the mast? Maybe even with 360 degree coverage? That would be a super cool way of navigating and also capturing the footage. I image it would be great for security, checking lines while youre away, clearing bridges, etc. Idk if this is a common feature that people use? Anyways, awesome video as usual! Hope to see this paradise in person some day.
I'll take boring on Delos with that view! Any day everyday! What are your plans with Delos once Delos 2 is finished? Is my dream boat and I'm interested if you're selling! You're so blessed❤
CONGRATS on finalizing the design of the home. I'm looking forward to the video about what SV Delos will look like and all the technical goodies. Have a blast enjoying the calm waters, bonfires, bbqs, good family fun with good friends.
Nice one guys. My wife, I and our little one are going to be on the boat show on Sat. Would be nice meet you and see how Sierra and her play, she’s 4.5 years old. Maybe on a park somewhere on Gold We’re flying to Tahiti next Friday on holidays
Ahoy Guys. My husband & I will be attending the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show & would love to run into you. You guys, & your adventures, inspire us. We bought an old South Coast 36 just over 3 years ago & have started on our (much smaller) adventures. Thank you for sharing your lives & posting such brilliant content xx
Sweet, sweet paradise of earth, drawn by natural systems; we can become in tune with and desire to feel the same vibration. Not much better as experience goes. Thx you S/V Delos!
I'm on Macleay Island (the next island to Straddie) , i'm doing a refit of my 53ft Norman Cross trimaran atm in the bay . I'd be up for Sanctuary Cove meet , or i could just take the tinny to Straddie 😄
I love Sierra.. she is growing up so well and she is just beautiful. (like her Mama) Her personality is so precious, and she is so smart. Keep up the good work.
My view. Large British Council Estate, full of Unemployed, Frustrated and Lost Souls. I wish I had a Magic Wand, or the money to treat them all to a week's holiday in the sunshine, on a Tropical Lagoon. Trouble is, they'd probably trash the place and turn it into a cesspool. It's the Thought that Counts... or so my Mother always told me. I can't even afford a holiday of my own, being a Pensioner. That's Life.
On the new boat. Get a camera up the mast and have it hard wired to one of the big multi purposenscreens in the dash. Make it in a way that it is protected so it will stay dry and clean and covered until needed. So maybe sitting in a pipe with a wider' closed top pipe over it. When needed you lift the upper pipe with a push of a button or when you pull a string. The camera comes on and on screen. With this high view point you have better view of underwater rocks and sand patches etc. when looking down and at that height you also see the whole front of the boat in perspective so I can imagine it can be very helpfull when docking and navigating dangerous spots like entering a reef opening. Less problems with glare from the water like when you stand on deck. It will be more like a drone shot. Also make sure it will be easy to get a replacement camera. Nothing super fancy or expensive. Just a good quality survailance camera or something.
Brian And Kazza, thanks so very much for posting another fabulous video. I agree with you both for being out in remote places removed away from the crazy chaos of modern society showers one with calm, peaceful and decompressing emotions. Being submerged in nature drives anxieties and stress far away so much so they both cannot relocate one Individual. Jim Rodgers
Wow Sierra is getting the best education in the world. Thank you Delos for sharing your life with us. I actually feel better after viewing your videos.
I so appreciate that Brian is man enough to wear Sierra's nail art. Sierra on flying her kite: "I'm ready, sooo ready!" That was precious. Love you guys! Safe travels. ❤
As I start making cruising plans, making landfall in the Marqueses is still one of my dreams, despite your reports of rock and roll anchorages. Such a bummer to hear. Ha! But since the Tuamotus are also on my list, I'll look forward to those calm protected waters even more!
Thanks guys! What a great share, what a great spot, I was feeling your vibe and enjoying your stoke! Keep doing all the things and having the best time...enjoy that glassy water! And yea on Delos 2.0!
You should save all of the leftover aluminum and make something and give it to supporters. Figure out something cool you can make multiples of with the scrap. A lantern or lamp would be cool or even some type of table center piece organizer condiment holder. The size and shape of the scrap will determine what exactly you can do.
Hi Brian, Kazza and Sierra. I need a holiday in that lagoon. Thanks for the update on 2.0. Now I understand why Delos has been on Dry Land since 3rd May. I've been following you on 'Where's Delos' for the past year, so know where you've been, before you post on YT. Shame I live in the UK and can't be in Brisbane to meet up with you. Looking forward to watching you build Delos 2.0 on a Live Stream, if possible. Failing that, a weekly update. Fair Winds. Russ.
Hey guys, we were hoping to get to sanctuary cove by next week but are stuck waiting out the weather at Port Stephens for another week very likely. Then heading your way & will probably be around Gold Coast for several weeks for proximity to the boatworks. We would love to get involved if you have a meet up. (SV More Amoré, 62' leopard cat with Andrew, Laura & Remy (1.5yrs) on board)
What cool video! definitely in my happy place! Watching Sierra with her kite was just so heartwarming and her little face when it took a nose dive a little piece of my heart broke then. Fairwinds at your back sending love from LIZ and California. 😎🤟🏻⛵️🐬🦀🐚 the crabs are having a party, mom. They’re playing the crab shuffle.🤣
