People can get into accidents like this for many reasons. There have been cases of car pedals malfunctioning and causing the driver to be unable to stop, for example.

The woman was having a heart attack is what I read, and died or was unconscious which is why her foot was stuck on the accelerator. Another commenter said they saw someone hunched over driving.

It could have been a variety of scenarios. diesel runaway or a mechanical malfunction like a fuel valve erosion for an example.

Now you know store fronts need steel bars concreted in the cement so no trucks or cars can hit through the barrier steel bars that stand 4 feet tall

Can almost guarantee she was driving there to get help. I doubt her death will be attributed to the trauma. Agreed that ERs need to be protected more. Worked in them for over a decade.

That’s what I was thinking, that she had a medical emergency while behind the wheel, and was trying to get to the hospital. I have epilepsy and I don’t drive because I don’t want to be responsible for something like this happening when I’m behind the wheel. I couldn’t put the lives of others in danger, but not everyone with a medical condition that could impact their ability to drive safely thinks like I do. Yes, it’s difficult not being able to drive, but it would be more difficult to live with myself if I had a seizure behind the wheel, and someone got hurt, or worse.

It could be that the car malfunctioned in some way (I’m thinking the pedals may have gotten stuck based on the video). Also, accidents like this can happen due simply to human error. A person only has to take their attention away from driving for a split second to get into an accident. Studies have proven that people can’t really “multitask” when they use their phones while driving, rather they are constantly shifting their attention from driving to their phone. However, a lot of people refuse to believe that and overestimate their abilities, leading to accidents. I am not saying that a phone was involved here, I’m just providing an example of how something like this could happen.

Looked up what happened, 50 something year old woman crashed the car and they said they don't think is was intentional or a medical issue but they're still investigating. Driver was given CPR but died later, 5 people injured including 2 kids.

They almost certainly are, considering they identified her within the day and given her name is Michelle Holloway. She's probably a national who lived nearby and was seeking medical assistance but wasn't safe to drive herself. The amount of unsafe driving practices in my state have been especially high recently, so this doesn't come as too much of a shock.

@@TheEnmineerexactly. They must have found her drivers license, which means she was most likely an American or, at the very least, a law abiding resident.
People are too quick to scapegoat everything on immigrants. Nobody is immune from having accidents or car malfunctions or health scares just by virtue of having US citizenship.
