      Yes, it is so sad -- the psychotic killer's name is Shawn Grate. He admitted to raping and killing at least 5 other women, and there is evidence that he killed even more. Even though Ohio has the death penalty, he was given life imprisonment without parole. The name of this woman (on the 911 call) has not been publicly released, but it is a matter of fact that her actions stopped this serial killer.
      Edit: My mistake -- as mentioned by ew1128 below, Grate WAS sentenced to death for the murders of two of his victims, but his execution was stayed pending appeal. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for the other 3 murders. My mistake -- I was reading about the 3 murders and didn't know that he was sentenced to death for the other 2 -- thanks to ew1128 for the correction.

    • @Reicha
      @Reicha Před 4 lety +12

      The death penalty is weird concept for me if you think that someone has done some truly horrific things without remorse. Seeing as you'd also give a beloved pet or family member in severe pain the same ending, without trying to sound like a dick.
      Lifetime in prison with someone working their darndest on getting the catch that keeps him from feeling bad for what he did to click loose. Then a lifetime of guilt. *That* imo, is a punishment. The only good one I can imagine, without becoming savages ourselves.
      I guess the whole "death penalty, but you're on death row for an undisclosed period of time" also carries a torture-aspect that punishes, however.

People like this often get tortured in the prisons too so I'd rather feed him to the other men locked up so they can make his life miserable or even kill him themselves. You can hear on the call (damn the cut) that it only took half a minute from that part to the police enter that house. The reason is that they got the location but they do not know exact house. So in that case, they will break the searching teams (around 10-20 members) into smaller groups and find in different direction. So anyway, they would not miss her, or slower the process.

Patient, not talking too loud but still speaking clearly (a lot of them talk way too damn loud even in situations like this one where they ought to know better), staying with her and giving her sound advice and keeping calm... all in all this dispatcher was remarkable. She and the caller sounded like a real team, trying to get her outta there asap.

      master cheef - What about my comment leads you to assume I'm "pasty" (which I'm taking to mean "white", indicating to me that you're black, or just non-white, at least)? Care to name an example of what you mean, exactly? Or give an idea of what you'd do differently if you were the dispatcher? The woman made it out safely, despite the apparent dumbassedness of the dispatcher's questions, so I don't really see what you're on about, there.
      If you ACTUALLY have a real answer to any of those questions, I'm actually curious to know... but I don't think you do. I think your brain just discharged a bit of mental waste on the YT comments section. You should probably get that checked out. 'Cuz the kind of DENSE MOTHERFUCKERS who mudsling on someone's race WHEN THEY CAN'T EVEN SEE OR HEAR THE PERSON TO BEGIN WITH are the same kind of people who wind up making Darwin Award-worthy decisions.

    “ right across from The 4th street laundry mat” (repeated twice)
    Dispatcher; “ are you in the laundromat “
    Dispatchers waste a lot of time asking question that have already been revealed by the caller, as well as too many “Huh’s”!
    First of all, they need to let people under stress know exactly the moment that an officer has been dispatched, so they can be hopeful that a rescue plan is a go.
    Third, let her know what to do if her abductor awakens, I would tell her. Do not speak at all, do not risk getting caught, just listen to my voice, then console her, 911 Operators act as if they aren’t going to dispatch until they get enough information.

She could have just left it at "she was really brave doing what she did." Stuff like this happens daily. The reaction isnt or shouldnt be different wheather the person was white black a girl or boy.
