You have definitely chosen the right man to test the limits of this set-up. Go Mac. 💪🔥🤛
Will be a good torture test for sure.
Zone Offroad in South Africa have their in house Cruiser with a very similar swop.
Love this car!
Keen to see how it all goes. Good work guys
So good to see another Brendale shop doing some industry leading mods and builds. If you need any 12V setup parts drop in and see us at Custom Lithium just up the road.
We already do! And recommend custom lithium to many many people. bork and i will pop up for a beer soon 🍺
Nice progress guys! Thanks for sharing. Regards Nico.
Thanks for watching! Hope you are well Nico!
@@ZeroTo60Tube yep Andrew. Thanks for asking. Good luck to you guys. Cheers.
Macca came to his senses, adding Amarok parts 1 at a time! 👍
Hahaha
Keen to see what you do for the interior around the auto!
At this point we won’t be doing the consoles. Well not making a custom one anyway. In Macs car we are controlling the auto with a sequential style shifter that will look like his current manual shifter. However there are multiple shifter options and a lot of guys we have spoken to already have consoles. The shifters are fully electronic and don’t require force to operate, so they can be mounted anywhere. Also working on a rotary knob style shifter and push button options.
Looking forward to copping this! Great work thus far boys and enjoying the content
Much appreciated!
Nice. I had no idea Chev made an RHD 1500.
Interesting swap def going on a good trip with the boys to break something lol
Extremely excited to see the final product boys.
It is in the pipeline for my 79, so hurry up pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssssseeeeee 😢
Definitely cool to see the accendental influencer there lol keen to see the build boys
Well done , I’d love to get a 79 but only manual , few people waiting for kits to come out , there’s a massive hole in the market to be filled …well done , this will be great ! (Ex Toyota tech)
Fingers crossed, we are balls deep in to this kit now, so need to make it work!
so glad to see this. I am hoping to put an M57 and 8hp into my Isuzu and seeing how you fitting the transfer case has cleared up so many issues
No worries! Thats gonna be a nippy isuzu!
@@ZeroTo60Tube ha ha yeah, that’s the plan. I still need to figure out how to get the m57 to run on its own when not in a BMW, so will need to decide everything which is a new word to me. Any tips and tricks would appreciated if you know of any.
@Harry Perfors can assist! Have done m57 patrol setup for standalone wiring and dde etc. Swing an email and I'll point you in right direction!
@@Buckna1 youtube doesnt allow any sort of links in the comments section. If you go to my channel, under about is my email address. Sorry for the run around, I would contact you to make it easier. Thank you very much, I have seen the work you do through Andrews videos, I wish I was in Aus to come visit. Maybe I will anyway ha ha
Some good lookin 8speed shirts there 🤩
Thank you! 😍
Mac has built a beast. Didn't know about this mod. Mmmmm.
All the best for 2023
Thanks Paul! Appreciate the support
Just one question,
Do you think it will need a larger capacity transmission sump to hold extra oil so to keep transmission temperatures at bay?
Wow. So much cash flowing big time! Well at least it's getting thrown at cars LOL. That's got to be the brightest workshop I've ever seen. Even the corners are lighted! I just want to keep saying wow. You guys are Scientists! MAD ONES! HA HA Hahaha!
Mad is about right. haha. We all love the challenge of working out problems/issues......
Need to get the Merch on the website for sale the shirts look amazing. Things are going well mate. I’m stocked for you mate
Coming soon
Well done boys. They are going to sell like hotcakes.
8hp the world!
seems great, economy of scale would suggest a swap to cast would drop production costs and time of you're making enough
That's awesome for Macs Cruiser but you need to definitely do a video on the Chevy
For sure!!
Hey Guys, love the work, was just curious as to if a TD42 patrol kit would be in the lines, and a ball park as to what it would cost? Cheers.
It would be do-able. The controller we use may need a sensor added to the engine so it can calculate torque more accurately. But its do-able. As for price, off the top of my head, ahhhhhh it will just be a guess, but i dont think it will be anywhere near as complicated as this setup.
+1 on td 8hp kits
Cheers for the reply, yeah definitely keen for a TD kit and more than anything to know the price, would probably make a TD a completely different car
+2 on td 8hp kits
@@ZeroTo60Tube +3 so far on the td conversion. GQ SWB Manual
Hey mate love your videos, just curious would you ever make a conversion kit for an e53 X5 cheers
The electronic side is all worked out. It’s just a matter of getting a 8hp mounted in. What engine and series is yours currently?
@@ZeroTo60Tube it's an M62 4.4 V8
So, I just checked out your site. Is that the cost of just the TCU and electrical components?
What ever item you looked at, it would have had the components listed.
Hey mate is there a 6 speed swap available for a more standard 4wd 4 cylinder turbo diesel, currently have the factory 4 speed auto and it really needs an extra gear or two and some more control options
Not that we would recommend. Sorry
Nice work , so a brand new gearbox is purchased through BMW or another manufacturer and fitted? Or you are running 2nd hand ?
second hand. no warranty on a BMW one (not to mention BMW just sell reco ones anyway) and the BMW version doesnt really have many issues. Something we will delve in to in the next week. Not all 8hp70/75s are the same.
You can get an auto kit from Toyota for about 55k
Auto box from a 200 series
Been a hot minute since I've seen Chris didn't expect him to be in one of your vids 😅 looks like you guys have been busy ngl 😁
Chris is a great bloke and super knowledgeable, so when he wanted to start his own thing we knew we'd found our long term tire, wheel and suspension guy!
@@Buckna1 he sure is didn't realise he had gone out on his own that's awesome 🤘
Ahhh man, need to have a catch up. Its been pretty mad the last few months always something happening.
@@ZeroTo60Tube definitely have to swing by one day things have been quiet crazy for me also 😊
Would this type of swap be possible in a 99 Toyota 4Runner with the 5VZ-FE?
Yes it will be eventually yes.
Hey man im a pretty long time subscriber, I love your videos. I love the “nothing half assed” attitude that you’ve kept throughout the years and I really enjoy your knowledgeable videos.
I have a very controversial question, I know there’s a million different opinions on this but you’re obviously in hot Australia and I would like to believe that the Climate is the same here in Bipolar and Hot Florida. What oil have you used in YOUR N54 with YOUR personal best experience? Which Viscosity and brand do you find works best at protecting our spiked up N54’s in these very hot climates?
Thanks.
Castrol 10w60 supercar. All day long. Not just me either.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Appreciate the quick reply! Im going to research if that will hold up to the bipolar cold winters we occasionally get also.
@@N54_is I’m sure it will be fine. It’s key is to get it to temp before beating on the car. This in particular protects rod bearings and helps with cam ledge issues from my experience. I’ve seen a motor throw vanos faults run this oil then be fine. It quietens lifters. If a n54 has mileage or is running big power it’s great. The thinner oils are fine for daily use and sub 500hp. But at 600-800hp the motor is putting a lot of force on the bearings and running much hotter at its core.
Thin oil generally exists for emissions purposes and faster to get to operating temps. So helps people who jump in and start abusing the car.
@@ZeroTo60Tube My new (to me) N54 in the 335is has the stock turbos, full bolt and a tune, but eventually I want to upgrade the twins and get to 500 to the wheels in 93 octane. I will be using it as a daily once I fix it and want to make sure I get a oil with which it will be fine all year long, im thinking a 5w40 or 0w40 maybe? Im not sure if I should go for Liqui Moly or Castrol, but you and BMW’s recommendation do lean me more in the direction of Castrol.
@@N54_is at normal power levels. It really doesn’t matter which oil. What is important is frequent changes.
The risk with oil is degradation. Now that is normally caused by heat or fuel. Sub 500hp you aren’t making much heat. But you will still get fuel mixing in with the oil. As well as carbon deposits.
Cheap oil changed frequently is better than expensive oil left in while it’s degrading. However expensive oil generally last longer.
If you are running basic ots tune. Any oil and change it every 10,000klms. Unless you go beat on the car at the track and get it warm. Make it more frequent. My big power cars oil changed after 2 to 3 hours of hard use. That’s expensive oil. But daily I will use cheap oil at 10,000klm intervals.
Bloke in South Africa has already done this. Wish I could remember his channel.
Zone Offroad. Found out about him the other week. Looks like he developed his own controller, which is mind blowing. We are using the turbo lamik controller and its 7 or 8 years in to development. Zone offroad did so well to get entire solution together in a pretty short time frame from what i can gather.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Zone Off-road mentioned that they developed a controller with a company in USA.
What’s the chance of making a kit for the hdj100/fte?
fte setup will be next! I promise 🙂
What sort of transcooler is going to be used and wheres is going to be mounted? up front somewhere? Under tray?
Cheers 🍻
So we are in two minds at the moment. It will work best up front….. however more susceptible to dirt build up. Alternatively we have the oem intercooler location above the motor.
Would also be fine under the tray with a fan. The controller we are using for the trans does have functionality to control a cooler fan…..
The cooler is one of the reasons we wanted macs car here to actually put some proper thought in to it and assess any possible issues with various locations.
On a side note we don’t need a massive trans cooler. They don’t run hot like older style of autos. The one on my personal car which is a 700hp petrol is about the size of a cas case and the trans never gets hot.
@@ZeroTo60Tube sweet! Id say macca dune cooning it in sand and the auto being in a heavier 4x4 will need the extra cooling aids! Cheers for reply! 👌🍻.
@@Mosesk1988 But then it should get a cooler incorporated into the liquid/coolant circuit.
A better option in most applications anyway.
@@masterq2.033 i agree, bringing trans oil temp down to coolant temp then and external cooler.
@@ZeroTo60Tube The zf get's hot in factory install like Amaroks when it's unlocked in 1st/2nd gear 4wding, sand, towing in low speed hi load situations etc. So might need to keep that in mind, or possibly you'll be able to control the lockup a little sooner in those gears with the controller your using.
In QLD, exhaust must come out drivers side, no passenger side dumps.
Side is irrelevant it must exit beyond the cab is all.
@@ausguy4385 Go read the rules bud. Drivers side.
what is that hq tonner in the background?🥵
Any chance of some love to the FTE guys?
Will likely be one of the next setups we work on after this.
Please tell me you'll have a kit to go behind an FTE in a 100 series?
We have a kit to go behind an FTE in a 100 series
We don’t actually but I try and do what people say when they are as polite as yourself 😛. 100 series version is in high demand will be not long after this.
@@ZeroTo60Tube for realzies? omg that's unreal. The a750 and not being able to run decent power from an FTE in auto form is a real travesty unless you go 4L80 😬. Thanks legends
@@Holdmybeer111 yes, we have the a340 here at the moment to get the dimensions from to start the adpater plate process. But need to get the 79 kits fully finished first.
This is Gunna ne popular there isn't many options for goin' auto
Who makes the adaptor plates?
We do.
@@ZeroTo60Tube By we do you mean simply tuning or under another business?
@@TomSawyer-jo6fv Simply Tuning, Lesson Engineering and myself are developing the kits. They will be sold from 8speed.au.
please make 8hp to 2gd engine adapter for asia market
How many people do you think would buy them!
Why not just cast the adaptor plates instead of using billet? Cool to see the innovation good luck to all involved
It will come down to a few things. For the prototype the cast option would have been dearer. For a bulk lot definitely seems cheaper to go casting. However also we were banking on getting the billet material for a lot less than our normal rates if we can put a decent order in with the supplier. The billet certainly looks a lot nicer and being able to be fully in control doing it all in house is also appealing.
@@ZeroTo60Tube that's why alot is rough cast then milled after. Cheaper material cost faster cutting time. Less waste
Why is it that the Chinese Ute's come standard with zf 8speed auto's ?
Because it is basically the standard auto box for the world in new cars. Everyone buys from zf.

Spot on. One of the most commonly used transmissions and just like some Jeep zf8 versions are made in America im sure some of the china ones are made in china.
Is there any intention to develop an 8HP kit for Hilux?
Yes, well maybe. An adapter plate at least.
