Great presentation! I am familiar with David Rohl's interpretation of Tel El Daba, but your take on it is refreshing because it shows how there is more than one way to interpret the evidence that still fits the Biblical narrative. We may never have enough evidence to totally nail down which is right, but the fact that there are multiple ways this could fit adds even more weight to the Biblical narrative. Nicely done!

@@IlluminingThePath what is your opinion of the revealed dates of the true sabbath days during the first 3 months of the Exodus that are undeniably laid out in the scriptures?
Deuteronomy chapter 5 tells us that on the 2nd set of tablets given to Moses (after he broke the 1st set), God wrote on the 4th commandment that the 7th day sabbath is a memorial of the day he brought the Israelite out of Egypt. That means God is telling us that the day he brought Israel out of Egypt, which was the 15th day of the 1st month during the Exodus, was a 7th day sabbath! Its literally written in the 4th commandment forever as a time stamp to a specific 7th day sabbath memorial. if the 15th of that month was a 7th day sabbath according to the creator, then the 22nd of that month and the 29th of that 1st month must have also been sabbaths.
Remember, the book of Enoch tells us that every single month either has 29 or 30 days in it.
Exodus chapter 16 tells us that Moses and the Israelite spoke with God on the 15th day on the 2nd month of the Exodus. The Israelite's complained that they wanted to eat meat. So God told Moses to tell the people, that at evening, he would send quail for meat, and the following day (which is the 16th day of the 2nd month) God would send manna. God said the manna would fall for 6 straight days, but on the 7th day it would not fall because this was to mark his sabbath. God said this would be a test to see if the Israelite's would obey his sabbath. Friends, if the 16th day of that month was the 1st day of the week, the first day the manna fell, then we can conclude that the day prior, the 15th, was a 7th day sabbath. Since the 15th was a sabbath, we can conclude that the 8th day was also a sabbath. Therefore the 22nd and 29th days of this 2nd month had to be 7th day sabbaths as well.
The Book of Jubilees chapter 1 tells us that on the 16th day of the 3rd month during the Exodus, God spoke to Moses and the Israelite's on mount Sinai. Jubilees tells us this day was THE FEAST OF WEEKS. Which means the feast of weeks took place on the 16th day of the 3rd lunar month during the Exodus (side note: who hear follows this instruction :).
Leviticus 23 tells us that the feast of weeks must take place on the day AFTER a 7th day sabbath. This means the 16th day of the 3rd month was the 1st day of the week. making the 15th day of the 3rd month during the Exodus a 7th day sabbath! Which means the 8th day of the 3rd month had to be a sabbath as well.
Friends, this now makes 3 straight months where the sabbath takes place on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th days of the 3 months recorded in scripture referring to the Exodus. And remember, God said this was all a big test to see if the Israelite's would obey this sabbath count.
Now for some unbiased simple math. If the last sabbath during the 1st month of the Exodus occurred on the 29th day (remember theres either 29 or 30 days in a Hebrew month per Enoch), and the next sabbath did not occur until the 8th day on the 2nd month, then how many days separated those two sabbaths? The answer depends on ho many days were in that 1st month. if there were 29 days, then 8 days separated the two sabbaths. if there was 30 days during the 1st month, then simple math tells us there were then 9 days that separated the two sabbaths!
The exact same scenario plays out in the following month, once again the sabbath ending on the 29th day of the 2nd month was NOT 7 days apart from the sabbath that fell on the 8th day of the 3rd month!
So the scriptural fact is that you can deny a luni-solar sabbath all you want, but the proof of scripture says that you are wrong. Scripture does not lie and our amazing father has given us a way to prove his true sabbath through the Torah, just as the Israelite's were taught to obey its count.
Side note: Leviticus 23 tells us the Feast of Weeks is a moedim. Psalm 104:19 tells us that the moedim are appointed by the MOON. So what does the feast of Weeks command tell us to do? it tells us to count 7 complete weeks! Weeks according to what? According to the moon! Here scripture is testifying that the only possible way to calculate his week i according to the moon!
Test everything my friends, the word of God reveals much!!!!
Funfact: The books of 2nd Baruch an 4 Ezra undeniably show proof of a luni-solar sabbath just like the books I referenced from the Torah do. If anyone is interested in that study just message me and ill provide the verses for your testing.

I think we have enough evidence to say David Rohl is off his rocker though. I think he might be right about the first two Egyptian dark periods being overblown, but the third seems to keep everything perfectly aligned with the history of the region. For instance the conquest of Canaan is found in the Amarna letters and the correspondence is with Amenhotep III which is very time appropriate according to 1 Kings. There’s other reasons to disregard a lot of what David Rohl claims, it just doesn’t hold up on the whole. But he’s almost certainly correct that there’s about 300 extra years of time added to Egyptian history prior to the 12th dynasty of Egypt which puts the building of the pyramids in a realistic time frame as well

The evidence of the Israelite sojourn in Egypt has been in plain view of archaeologists for decades but was either rejected or completely unknown because of blatant bias against the veracity of scripture. Very true, Debbie. It's funny: years ago I hated ancient Egypt. Mummies didn't impress me, and it all seemed so dark. Then I took a course in OT history that included a focus on Egypt. By the end of the course, I not only warmed up to Egypt, but I started to enjoy studying it. That launched me on my own study trail, and it ended with the first minor of my Ph.D. being Egyptology. I still am unimpressed with mummies, but the rest of the culture is fascinating to me. Yes, God interacted with Egypt a ton in ancient times, and if he did, why shouldn't I?

Hello, Dale. To answer your question frankly, as one with training in Egyptology on a Ph.D. level (vs. Rohl, who only has a B.A. degree in Egyptology), I can state confidently that the "New Chronology" is one disaster after another. It is "pin the tail on the donkey" scholarship. It's the wrong results because of the wrong methodology. All of us in the field know and loathe its influence on the naive and untrained. Bryant Wood wrote a 10-page summary of problems with what Rohl messed up (in his 2015 book) JUST WITH BIBLICAL AI. Some day I hope to publish a book that refutes the entire paradigm. If you are wise, you will stay as far away from it as possible, at least until you gain training in the field.

There's no simple answer to that, One Way. Know this: When Tim Mahoney first began the series, he followed David Rohl like a guru. As time went along, and many of us walked Tim through the plethora of mistakes that comprise the "David Rohl dating disaster," he finally (recently!) parted company with David Rohl and his chronological disaster. So, my timeline differs greatly from Tim's earliest timeline (in the films), but now I think he has "come over from the dark side" (if you will). Am I familiar with their research? When Tim Mahoney heard about the thesis of my 1st book, that Hebrew is the language of the world's oldest alphabetic script, he changed the entire focus (and name) of that (2nd) film, in order to present these findings to the world. The title of this Patterns of Evidence film is, The Moses Controversy. I hope you have seen it, because it is a crucial, game-changing film (even if somewhat flawed).

You are welcome, and I'm glad to hear that you loved the presentation. Dirk, I think you misunderstood something. Jacob was buried in Canaan, not Egypt. I discuss the burial of Ephraim (Di-Sobekemhat) as having included a (type 1) narrow-bladed axe, a daggar, and so forth. This burial dates to the 2nd Israelite occupational phase at the site. Jacob's death marks the end of the first occupational phase. How could there be any mention of Jacob's hip when (1) he was buried in an unknown location in Canaan, and not in Egypt, and (2) the issue with his hip has nothing to do with what has been excavated at Avaris (=biblical Rameses)?

Dr. Petrovich, About the Israeli four-room houses; is there evidence of remodeling when Israel first begins to occupy Canaan and its already existing infrastructure? Did the invading Israelis, who inherited the Canaanite cities remodel their new (used) homes to reflect what you are suggesting was the building style of Jacob? If so that would be an important factor to support this theory. If the tripartite, four-room style doesn't appear in Israel until after the period of Judges then would the connection to the house in Avaris be anything more than coincidence? Fascinating lecture and diligent research. Thanks.

    • @IlluminingThePath
      @IlluminingThePath Před 3 lety

Marc, I devoted an entire section to this in one of the chapters in my book, with useful images. The oldest four-room house of which I am aware is from Stratum d/2 at Avaris, the first Asiatic occupational level. The Austrian team excavated other four-room houses in subsequent strata at Avaris. This same model was followed by the Israelites WHEN THEY BECAME SEDENTERY within Canaan. It's the exact same general plan with all of them. The only difference is the size of the rooms, the thickness of the walls, and the overall size of the buildings. And yes, all of this is VERY important, because the four-room-house variation of the tripartite building is known to be used only by Hebrews. No, the existence of Jacob's four-room house from Stratum d/2 is not coincidence, not when this model is continued in later strata at the same site. What is still missing is the identification of Jacob's four-room house at Bethel, before he moved the family to Egypt. This is why someone needs to excavate MBA IIA levels at Bethel.

I'd love to get your take on the way that Shekem is actually Manasseh's great grandson. Josh 17:2 doesn't spell it out, but Num 26:29-31 DOES, and Shekem is the son of Gilead, the grandson of Makir, the great-grandson of Manasseh. So to have a great grandson age from something like 10yrs to something like 18yrs old, average generation of 18yrs at the time, makes Gilead around 28, Makir around 46, and Manasseh around 64 to 72. This is totally plausible, and would further make sense why Manasseh (The Brother Of The Ruler Of Retjenu) is riding a donkey and not walking.

In order to uproot a vine, you of course, have to dig and get as much of the roots out of the ground that it is in. The Lord and his people were deeply rooted in Egypt. I would even say that The Lord was rooted in Egypt from the beginning of the Egyptian civilization and the people of Egypt were aware of The Lord because of Noah and Mizraim.

George, first of all, there are no pyramids in the Delta, including at Avaris. Second, the statue was broken into pieces, which were scattered and found in various locations. The consensus is that the original statue was placed inside of the massive estate building that I refer to as the Egyptianized Asiatic Residence, which is the most plausible option. There are lots of details and facts involved in all of this, which are in my completed (but unpublished) book. When you read about all of this, you will understand why it simply cannot be attributed to Joseph in any reasonable fashion. Moreover, Joseph was NOT buried at Avaris. All of this is in my book, as well. Hang tight. Hopefully it will be published and in print this year.

      Māui
As legends would have it, many centuries before the great migration to Aotearoa,, two brothers had decided to voyage from their homeland of Egypt. As far as stories go, the brothers [after circumnavigating more than half the globe] would find themselves upon the uninhabited Islands of Hawaii. One of the brothers [supposedly ashamed to return home] opted to stay & settle within the islands naming one in particular,, after himself. The brother, not being satisfied by the fish abound,, decided to find fish further abroad. By using nothing other than the blood from his nose as bait, cast his hook deep within the murky depth. Upon the realisation he was not landing a fish but instead fishing a land, reeled the great fish in naming it also after himself,, Te Ika ā Māui...

At days end, he had fell & hewn a great tree,, where he than retired from all labour. The next day, to much amazement,, the tree had returned to it’s original position & once again standing upright. So, he immediately,, repeated the process & laboured with the passing of another day. When the third day dawned & again, the tree was upright & back to it’s original form. & again the brother repeated the process, but this time he decided to see,, who had undone all his work. To much surprise, the brother noticed all the Forrest birds, insects & wild life, labour to restore the tree to it’s former prestige. Upon hearing their incantations, the brother sprang from hiding & spake to the children of Tane Mahuta, so it is you,, who restore my tree. In which, the children of Tane Mahuta replied,, who hath given you authority to fell the Forrest God to the ground. When the brother had heard this, he was quite & overcome with shame. The offspring of Tane all called out aloud to him saying, return to the village,, for we shall make a canoe for you. & thus, it was so...

2 & behold Isaac, the father of my father, said to us; Run & lay hold of them, each one according to his strength; & to him that seizeth them will the sun & moon belong.
3 & we all of us ran together, & Levi laid hold of the sun, & Judah outstripped the others & seized the moon, & they were both of them lifted up with them.

6 & lo, a bull upon the earth, with two great horns, & an eagle's wings upon its back; & we wished to seize him, but could not.
7 But Joseph came, & seized him, & ascended up with him on high.
8 & I saw, for I was there, & behold a holy writing appeared to us, saying: Assyrians, Medes, Persians, Chaldeans, Syrians, shall possess in captivity the twelve tribes of Israel.
9 & again, after seven days, I saw our father Jacob standing by the sea of Jamnia, & we were with him.
10 & behold, there came a ship sailing by, without sailors or pilot; & there was written upon the ship, The Ship of Jacob.
11 & our father said to us: Come, let us embark on our ship.
12 & when he had gone on board, there arose a vehement storm, & a mighty tempest of wind; & our father, who was holding the helm, departed from us.
13 & we, being tost with the tempest, were borne along over the sea; & the ship was filled with water, & was pounded by mighty waves, until it was broken up.
14 & Joseph fled away upon a little boat, & we were all divided upon nine planks, & Levi & Judah were together.
15 & we were all scattered unto the ends of the earth.
16 Then Levi, girt about with sackcloth, prayed for us all unto the Lord.
17 & when the storm ceased, the ship reached the land as it were in peace.

They were quite sedentary, actually, apart from land-journeys. However, I can tell you the two commercial enterprises in which they were involved: turquoise mining and importing/selling wine. You can read all about this in my book when it comes out. See my own comment here. Undoubtedly after the Israelites moved into the Levant (conquest from 1406-1400 BC), they eventually shared their alphabet with the Canaanites and Phoenicians. It was the seafaring Phoenicians who took that alphabet and the acrophonic principle throughout the known world.

The truth has to be glossed over or hid completely. The really funny thing is, that the modern day Egyptians bear little to no resemblance or share much DNA with the Ancient Egyptians. That much is readily apparent from the tomb paintings alone. The people occupying Egypt currently, have as much in common with ancient Egypt as Eskimos, yet they seem to claim the majesty and grandeur without question. I believe the original Egyptians are basically a defunct race of people that God removed from this world as punishment for their enslavement of his people and continuous idol worship amongst other things such as pride.
God reduced that country to a dusty non-productive third world country that is totally dependent on tourism for its very survival.
Tourism of objects and sites that have no association with the people claiming descendency......
How the mighty have fallen !! DNA done on gravesites throughout Egypt has born out this truth, although not much is said about it for political reasons.

Glad to help. Jamie. This is easily answered, as I deal with the topic in the book I just finished writing (and am now editing). Manasseh and Ephraim were born between 1884 and 1879 BC, making them 20-25 years of age at the death of Jacob in 1859 BC. The text never states or implies that they were young boys when their father took them to Jacob. Many of us simply have read something into the text that is not there. They probably were of full form, growth-wise. This is why they were ready to travel. Remember that in the ancient world, true adulthood was not considered to be reached at about 18, but rather at about 30. The boys probably bowed to their grandfather when he was extending his hands.

Sarah had 2 Hebrew names. Jacob had 2 Hebrew names. The Egyptian king had 5 Egyptian names. There is no problem whatsoever with Joseph's having more than 1 Egyptian name. In fact, he had a total of 4 Egyptian names, counting the one you mention from the Bible. You MUST remember that people of this time received their initial or later name due to some event or major circumstances that defined them in the eyes of the people around them. You simply have to take yourself out of the modern understanding of name-receiving to get all of this.

You cannot possibly create a timeline from the Bible without a Computer Program designed specifically to do so. It requires downloading the entire Bible into multiple binary single files. Then using algorithms to find(numeric and word searches) dates months and times using many loops and multi-dimensional arrays storing both the month names, dates and to conditionally determine months and dates with matching converted Roman Calendar month names.
And then there is the math. And all of the data presented and graphed with their corresponding verse locations and book names, locations where they were written and who wrote them. I began programming in 1977 and continued doing so at the University Of New Mexico. The data and timelines I have seen online today are the most ridiculous and incorrect presentation and most follow archaeological data WHICH CANNOT BE VERIFIED FULLY and of Pagan Tablets and statutes which are based on Pagan Gods and their Kingly Rulers who clearly exaggerate both their accuracy and show favoritism for many fictitious accounts for things they had supposedly done while in power---
    (Political Organised Despair).
If your going to claim Gods Word is Truth then do so using the Bible only. For it is mankind who cannot even direct his own steps as God states in the Bible likewise. Mankind especially Pagans through the ages have never been able to kept their word and have never reached perfection or truth and why a Computer has to un-bias the data to arrive at a more accurate Truth of the matter.

Just because modern day jews and self proclaiming Christian's do not accept this book, it is scripture. More than 2,000 years ago BOTH the Jews and the Ethiopean christian church faithfully accepted this book as Torah. Nowhere in scripture does it tell us that their are only 5 books of torah. Ingact, 2nd Kings even reveals that the Israelites did away with the Torah at one point and it was later found in the temple by a priest, and noone even knew any of the books. So israel is famous for forgetting what the Torah originally was, nothing new under the sun. The book of Jubilees is an amazing book, and gives the real timeline years.

I certainly do appreciate your scholarship and the videos but don't necessarily agree with some of your conclusions on Manasseh & Ephraim.
You are suggesting Manasseh was disfavor because Jacob switch and gave Ephraim the birthright.
First, I would point out, there is no where in scripture that Abraham or Isaac pass on the birthright in this fashion. Why? Because a birthright was a given, it always went to the firstborn son. The only way that it could be changed was in a case like Ruben; even then if a man had more than one wife the next in line was the firstborn of wife number two.
I would also argue that word " before " never means favored or preferred as most Scholars have said. The Hebrew definitions is , Face or Forward. To illustrate. The Speaker of the House goes before the President to announce his presence; much like John the Baptist interduction of Jesus. This begs the question, who is more important, the speaker or the guest of honor?
This 48th chapter of Genesis has nothing to do with a birthright blessing. The statement by Jacob; I know it my son, I know it my son, was a response to Joseph’s concerns about Manasseh being the firstborn. The crossing of Jacob’s hands meant Ephraim would go first and become a company of nations and Manasseh would follow and become a People. If we were to take out the interruption by Joseph the narrative runs smoothly.
There is something else misleading. That is not recognizing the words Great and Greater are verbs not adjectives in this context in verse 19. Again the definitions in Hebrew are, to Grow, Grow-up, large, magnify and increase. The same as the word in verse 16, let them " Grow into a multitude." They both come from the same root.
Here is what's going on in this 48th chapter of Genesis.
Joseph hears his father is very sick and near death. He brings Manasseh & Ephraim to see their grandfather perhaps for the last time. He does what most families would do. He wasn't seeking a blessing but was surprised when his father calls Ephraim first then Manasseh and takes them as if their like his sons Ruben & Simon. (Now here is the key to understanding this chapter) Jacob reminds Joseph of what happen to them at Beth-el. It is where Rachel gives birth to Jacob second Benjamin then dies and is buried. This reminder was given because it had been some 60 years after event. Jacob was putting Joseph on notice what he was about to do, but, Joseph wasn't getting it untel after he was assured by his father, Manasseh was the firstborn. ( I know it, I know it) Joseph named his second son Ephraim after the place Rachel was buried and Jacob was honoring Joseph and his mother's second son by giving him a place that would change world history in two ways. First Ephraim descendants would become a company of nations who would dominate the world for almost 2 & 1/2 centuries. He would go before Manasseh to make it possible for Manasseh to inherit his birthright privilege. The crossing of Jacob's hands and setting Ephraim Before Manasseh had nothing to do with a birthright. It wasn't even in Jacob's mind. He was thinking back to where God had met him at Beth-el the second time and gave him three new promises. " A Nation, A Company of Nations, Kings shall come from his Loins. Jacob reverse the order and gives Judah Kingship after they are form into a kingdom. From the bottom up. Next came the company of nations. That was given to Ephraim; remember, Ephraim means, dubble fruitfull. Thirdly, A Nation. This Nation sprain our of Joseph who was separated from his brethren.
Going back to your assumption that this "unflavored person was or could have been Manasseh doesn't match up in my view because chapter 48 of Genesis isn't saying Manasseh was rejected and Ephraim got preeminence. I would say more then likely the person to whom you refer is, Ruben for he was the one Unfavored among Jacob sons.

I think it's worth saying that Ephraim and Manessah were the sons of Joseph. The twelve tribes of Israel were made up of the sons of Jacob (Israel) of which Joseph was one. But there is no "Tribe of Joseph". Joseph's sons (Ephraim and Manessah) shared 12th tribe status and were known as the half-tribes. So, just like the 12 Apostles included Paul (making 13), the 12 tribes were also made up of 13 physical tribes.

The word Great nation is only used to describe Great Britain snd Great Britain is our older brother nation ..But the younger brother nation was to be more powerful .I think America is that younger nation and is an assembly of nations (In hebrew means nation full of nations) .That description places Ephraim as America .America still is the world's most powerful nation in comparison . @@motorcyclemark2889 Adam and eves inbreed kids would create genetic monsters. Within a few generations the inbreeding leads to club foot hair lip anemia and worse... but Always it leads to infertility. Without fail. Higher organisms require a larger population of breeding members to avoid extinction. Simple demonstrable fact.
Noah’s kids have the same problem. A few hundred humans is an endangered species level. Two breeding humans simple could never continue humanity. It’s a demonstrably fictional story.
The talking snake should have given it away... the talking donkey too... talking animals are common in myth. Bugs bunny is not reality.
The list of science fails in the Bible is endless.
Water before stars? Oxygen is made in stars and released only in supernova... no water before the first stars lifecycle... the sun before the stars... god didn’t realize the sun was a star? Not the oldest star not the youngest. the sun is a middle aged star... on and on it fails.
Bronze Age myth. And demonstrably fictional. Genesis fails at every turn.
