Thanks! Needed the inspo badly! I had everything organized then had a stroke. Need to declutter and reorganize now for wheel chair height and one handed use. Planning and execution of this will keep me busy at least until the holidays!

Over the years I have learned so many great organizing solutions from you, Benita. When friends come over to work on projects with me, they are shocked at how quickly I can find little odds and ends and tools because everything has a home and is labelled. Just for your safety, I recommend added door handles or something to hold onto inside those two closet doors that click open and close, so that incase you get locked in there, you can click the door open from the inside by having something to pull towards you and back out.

Thanks for the body doubling! I was already on a roll having pulled out my Fall decor (that's three items but still) and sorted my daughter's toy baskets this afternoon. But this prompted me to declutter my desk drawers.
Now I'm at 1,500 items decluttered for the year! 🙌

For the standing desk, maybe design something yourself and have it made by a carpenter in your area. Etsy can sometimes be a good starting source (you can sort by geographic area). Even if a seller doesn’t have tall desks listed as yet, if they sell desks/tables they may be willing to customize a design.
Another option would be a small dresser with two doors (e.g. a children’s wardrobe) customized with a higher and a lower pull-out shelf, so you can have the computer at standing or sitting height. Perhaps with hinges that allow the doors to be folded all the way back when in use. Then when closed it just looks like a little cupboard in the kitchen.

For a desk solution- have you considered a tall cabinet / TV stand / kitchen hutch that has upper doors that open & close?
Then you would not see the computer at all when not working. I’m sure an adjustment or two would need to be made to the furniture- but you are always up for that sort of project☺️

I am working on a major gardening project, so I'm denying the approach of fall :) In a couple of weeks, I will be looking at a couple of storage areas that need a serious reorganization to make their contents more accessible. For now, it's still officially summer!!! 😊

It's a bonus when all is organized.....you can usually find hat you are looking for quicker...and also saves holding on to things you dont need ..

As to ideas for your work space area, I think you could find a beautiful armoire-type cabinet, with simple lines and in a light wood, that could easily be converted to a stand-up desk by moving and/or moving the shelves inside. It would help balance the kitchen cabinets on the opposite wall, and the doors could be closed allowing for a clean look when you're not working.

I use a white IKEA Trotten sit/stand desk in the living room for my work desk. The metal legs may look too office for your taste. If you really want a standing desk that looks more like what you have now, wood stair balusters are often more than a meter tall so they could perhaps be repurposed for legs with a piece of wood countertop to make a plain desk that’s tall enough.

Hello Benita! Omgosh - again so late to watch 😄 I love fall and I am so happy that the cooler weather is coming. The work space you have set up is so nice, very clean looking and I enjoy watching how you organize everything. I did try to organize my extra cords, chargers and everything - but ended up throwing everything into another basket and putting it on my shelf (save it for another day, I guess). I am enjoying doing some fall yardwork and being outside far more than organizing right now. I will save that for a winter snow day project. Enjoy your week! 🍁🍂🍁

as handy as you are, i have a desk solution idea: purchase additional matching legs to your current desk & cut "extensions" to attach to the bottom. i might suggest drilling holes, using dowels & wood glue as the method of attachment = no visible hardware.
I did consider it but I’d prefer not to tamper too much with this particular desk.
My goal is to be as organized as you! 😃😅👍

Hi Benita, I also plan to set up a home office with a standing desk. I don’t want to make too much space for it. So my solution is to create a moveable set up. I didn’t do it yet, so I don’t know if it works but I’m thinking of putting wheels under the standing desk and a having a nice pretty container on wheels for my office supplies and to have everything stored away after work each day.

I may have missed something in your beautiful video, but I just searched “sit to stand desks” on amazon and many options appeared. Some even looked similar to what you have but were adjustable to standing height. Some even adjusted electronically although I did not read the reviews. Might be worth a quick look though.
To be honest I hadn’t looked on Amazon but I’m heading there now!

I think this is the episode you asked for our ideas about a stand-up desk? At work I used a short filing cabinet as my desk for working on my laptop; it was just the right height for me. However, you use a very large monitor and that won't work so well if you stand close to it. Perhaps one of your bookcases with wheels added can be brought over to your workspace and you can use your keyboard and mouse on that surface? Only if that's quick and easy to do and the bookcase is the right height for you while standing. On another note, not all of us have your fantastic rocker chair but I have a little "rockette" for my feet while sitting at the computer. I bought a child's inexpensive skateboard and rest my feet on top. It lets me glide my legs side-to-side or forward-backward and get the blood pumping in my lower legs. I just have to make sure I put it securely away when I'm finished or it becomes a trip hazard when it follows gravity, rolling to the middle of the room.

Hi. I work in my kitchen too. Half of it is the kitchen and l am working on the other side with an open door to the garden. In the evening I move to my living room. Your space looks more minimal though which is lovely but I am a maxi mist at heart 😂

Have you considered putting longer legs on your current desk to make it a standing desk? Or, perhaps, place two tall drawer units or cabinets that match your kitchen cabinetry with a desk top that bridges them?
I did order leg extenders but they didn't work. I'll try and tweak them to fit better but I like your other idea so I'll try and figure something out along those lines! Thank you!

Why not exchange your desk for a wall mounted shelf, for example a String with the deskshelf that you place in a suitable height for you standing up working? Or Norrgavel has also nice options.

Have you considered a standing shelf that folds down? It could be disguised by a picture for example when in the up position.
Personally, I discovered that a narrow chest of drawers I already own is the perfect standing height for me and 40x60 is adequate for laptop work.
I have a desktop computer that can’t be tucked away though. Need the big screen and power for editing my videos. But thank you!
@@BenitaLarsson I did just see an ingenious "cupboard" desk - perhaps you could reconstruct something similar at standing height where you can close the rattan doors; the product is Matheo by La Redoute. Again, an idea!
Thanks for your tips and tricks, but most of all for the calm competence! In one video you mentioned that a viewer suggested using olive oil soap on your counters. Can you please point me to a how-to?
I showed it in a video but can’t remember which one. I use a round soft bristle brush, a bar of Marseille soap, a little water and go over the countertops with it. Wipe with a damp cloth after.

I have a small question. Where did you buy the boxes which are on the floor of your home-office-closet? The ones which have the white handles / or white ends. I don't have a desk, but have you considered a rolling or easy to move kitchen island as a standing desk? It would likely be about the right height (counter top height) and would not look out of place in a kitchen/dining area. If you were able to find a laptop you enjoyed using more than the desktop you could even use it as multifunction. I know that is far more difficult though as the desktop style computers simply run better and stay in good condition longer0 -from what I've heard from other CZcamsrs. Though, I do know of some who are vloggers and they have both as you can easily connect them, but they can do some work on their laptop while standing or resting on the sofa etc and then do the more detailed work on their larger screen and everything works together. Closet office for desktop? Island or counter height dining table as a standing desk for your laptop?

@@BenitaLarsson I understand! I used to blog and my laptop was a 17 inch screen. Now that I just use one for entertainment the 15 inches works well, and I could always hook it to my tv if I did need to do some work on it, but that wouldn't be ideal for a regular job.

Hi, the brand Artifox has nice looking static standing desks, though a bit pricey. I also wanted to ask what was the grey item in the closet that was being charged? It was on the shelf beneath your microphone booth. Love your videos as always!
