And I was very happy to find her. She came with a whole bag of clothing also. Which have the name cabbage patch on it ❤🎉 Yay!! I'm glad I found your tutorial how to care for her. Peace ✌️

    Personally I put them through washing machine. I have a newer washer with no spindle. I use Scrubbing Bubbles spray on faces and bodies. Then use tooth brush to get in all the grooves of face. Then once placed in washer by themselves. I then let the washer do the work. The yarn is material and it grosses me out too much thinking how much filth could be in the yarn. Once washed - start the process of using sticky lint roller to take all lint / fly always. Let dry for a bit under ceiling fan. Then restyle hair. Instead of rubber bands try tiny zip ties. These will not only get a tighter fit but will look better as well. Especially Jesmars. While yarn is still a little damp/pliable - use sharp scissors ✂️ to trim fuzz flush against the CPK head. 😁 Your accent - shout out to Canada 🇨🇦

    • @Brekkeb
      @Brekkeb  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, that can work in certain circumstances. However, it's the agitation in the washing machine that typically causes the yarn or cornsilk hair to become damaged over time. It can also cause stitches to pop. Although it does work, and it's likely what the manufacturer intended us to do, I don't recommend it on dolls who are in good condition now. It could cause problems. If they're a beat up, fuzzy mess; go for it!

      If it's the kids I think of, the same process should work. Those kids tended to be designed for smaller children and they're also likely machine washable. I'd need a picture of the doll to know exactly.

    Will it hurt their face putting them in the washing machine to do that

    • @Brekkeb
      @Brekkeb  Před měsícem

      No. If you put them in a pillowcase it buffers against rubbing. Also, you're only putting them in for the spin cycle. This means that they're only pressed back by centrifugal forces, not bashed about like they would be in a dryer or even a washing cycle. For those who do put them in for a full cycle, they will put them in with a bunch of towels to act as a buffer.

      I wash the entire doll in woolite as that helps the yarn hair repair a bit. Or you can pre-soak in Oxiclean. This works really well for the lemon haired kids. Cornsilk are a whole different ball game. :) Once clean, then it's time to defuzz! Let me know if I can help in any other way.

    Also how do you wash the Cornsilk hair?

    • @Brekkeb
      @Brekkeb  Před 11 měsíci +1

      You may have got a factory fluke. I've seen the fabric used inside out so the signature is inside the kid. :) I"d need to see a picture to really tell. As for cornsilk hair, there's a variety of options. If you really want to clean it, you can use regular shampoo and conditioner. If you just want to brush it I recommend a child's hair detangler that you spray on. Other's use fabric softener. A steamer will smooth the hair and get rid of the frizzes.

I have used your washing techniques on many dolls, and have been successful in restoring their face and bodies well. I have one baby that has very curly Cornsilk hair, and I was wondering if I can still wash her hair and treat it with conditioner as I would normally. Her hair is very curly and blonde and I’m worried if I try and comb the conditioner through, it may take away some of her curls. Any help you can offer would be wonderful! Thank you!!
