Being 85 years in this planet and lover of country songs, I consider Gene is one of my best favorate.
All of the the new country artist in 2023 , 24 need to listen to Gene and follow his lead , one of the greatest country singers in my lifetime, Im 62 in 23 and his songs are always the ones you want to sing along with , just saying

My mom got his autograph many years ago at a local honkytonk. Gene Watson has the purest voice in all of singing. Listen to him 30 years ago and now. Nothing has changed. He is one of the best if not the best ever. If the powers don’t put him in the country music hall of fame then we need to fire everyone of them!! Gene has earned this right!! Gene Watson is truly one of the greatest true classic country singers ever. What a shame he never got the awards like many lesser singers received. He still sings today as well as he did 30 years ago and not many can do that. He and Ray Price are the rare ones.

I can't believe that it took them until January 2020 to even make him a member of the Grand Old Opry. That's insane. You just don't hear music like his anymore. He has always been one of the very best.

Today is April 1st. 2019 and all I want to say is I love Gene Watson's singing and his concerts are always packed. He is a true gentleman and his talent knows no bounds. He needs to be a member of the Opry and in the Country Music Hall of Fame. If it were possible, we would be at every show of his. His band is so talented and is so in sync with Gene.

I listened to country from 1960 until 2000 and I felt it, it was good. From 2000 until 2021 it has went down" like a snow ball heading for hell " . Started back in 2010 going back to the old stuff, even started listening to southern rock and blues , blue Grass and others and found talents that I had brushed off over the years. There is very little heat and soul in music today, today's country is the worst. For those of us born in the 40s 50s and 60s ......we had the best !

I began to learn guitar in my 60's and can't even begin to bother with the new stuff but when I hear Haggard, Jennings and Watson, along with Ray Price , Eddy Arnold, Janie Fricke and Jim Reeves, I feel it in my bones. My husband and I were watching the CMT awards this year (20015) and got so fed up , we changed channels. What will Country be like once these people are gone? I MISS them already.....Tootsjps
