A great tip I saw another creator do was melt the whole block of beeswax down and then set it into tiny pellet moulds, pop them out and keep them in a big container or ziplock bag. Makes them easier to measure out for a recipe too
The tiny pellets are so much easier to measure!

I totally agree. And I love all your video's Ellen, you make great soaps. Do you, maybe, have a basic recipe for soap that you could/ would share?
Thank you! Have fun making it !
Thanks! Yes, I've got a few videos out with soap recipes, and I'm have one coming out soon that I share my basic recipe.
Hi Ellen, you are always so upbeat and cheerful, you bring a smile to my face each time I watch your vids !đ

I wholeheartedly agree Kimberly, Ellen is one of those rare treasures that only come along once in a lifetime, so glad Ellen is in my lifetime. đ„°
Love your gloves ur so natural n down to earth .. gosh for Al that beeswax I would have been trying to get as much as I can but that's a lot of work too.. lovely recipe .. the fragrance I couldn't get online . I love how clean u are impressive .. I have a lil ocd but the gloves is fine đđđđđđđ great video â€ïžâ€ïž
I'm excited to come along for this. Thanks for sharing
đ„° You're welcome!
I love that mold and the carrot powder is a great idea, as it is so good for the skin but together with the arrowroot that has to be a wonderful feeling. I don't like the bars for just that reason of them getting tacky. Thanks Ellen. That was great.
Thanks Renee. These do have a really nice feel.
I've tried your recipe for the bars and lip balm and it came out great! I didn't have any coffee filters like yours at home, but I did have some "Jumbo" muffin tin paper liners--they were the perfect size, no trim required. Thank you for all your great recipes!
I love the muffin liner idea đ
Ellen, thanks for the everything. I came here to get the affiliate link to purchase the tins! I'll have to remember to come here next time I need Nurture loot! đ
Thank youâŁïž
A perfect recipe for this moment in time Ellen, when we are advised to wash our hands more. Mine are getting quite dry from all the washing. Thanks again for sharing another of your recipes :-)
đ„°You're so welcome! Enjoy!
I did the same....with the beeswax....yes! A lot of workđI love your channel! Find myself playing your videos all the time now when I'm in my soap room.thank you for sharing all your talent and sweetness! Blessed Beâ€

thank you so much .
God bless you and your business, â€ïžđč
Thank you so much đ
Such a well done video with concise explanations. Thank you so much! Iâm a beekeeper looking for a couple uses for my beeswax and honey... and youre right... it IS a lot of work to render it!
My hat is off to you! Bee keeping is such a wonderful and needed thing, but it's really labor intensive.
Made our first soap loaf tonight because of your video. Not sure how it will turn out, we did a couple of different additives and had to re-batch the recipe to our mold size. Fingers crossed! Thanks so much for all of your great videos, you make it look way easier haha
đ„° yay đ that's wonderful đ
I will try these! Thank you for your recipe! Could you possibly do a video on lip balms? Thanks again!
You're welcome đ I actually use the lotion bar for a chap stick too đ
@@EllenRuthSoap oh, ok..I thought you made tubes...thanks
Oops... I guess you addressed that at the endđ.... I love how you package them!
đ
I received my order today that included this lotion bar. All I can say is this is a FABULOUS product and it definitely takes my hand moisturizing process from hours to minutes. Thank you so much for all your hard work. I'll definitely be back to buy more.
P.S. I do love watching your channel, not to learn how to make soap but to see how other crafters do their crafts. You are a artist with soap. I wouldn't have the patients. Keep up the great work. đđ
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying your lotion barđ
Greetings Ellen it is so nice to follow your recipes you are a perfect teacher because if you can get you give a substitute you can use which is great
Thank you so much and God continue to bless you
Thank you!
Love your channel! Thank you for sharing some of your recipes, especially the soap. It helps a beginner, like me, see the whole process. I also love how you packaged these lotion bars. Very cute and clever!
One tip for you. When you have big chunks of bees wax, break them in to some smaller, but still big chunks. Then line a cookie sheet or even a 9 x 13 pan, with parchment paper making sure it goes up all the sides. Put some of the chunks of wax in there and turn your oven on, really low around 150-170 F, anything higher could be dangerous and cause the wax to brown even more. Let the wax melt. When it's melted take it out and let it cool. If a little of the melted wax gets away and ends up on your pan, just warm it back up and pour it onto the paper. This method works great!
Now you have thin sheets of wax that you can break up and store. It's makes it super easy to break off pieces to measure and get the amount accurate. The thin sheets melt faster also.
đ„° thank you!
Thank you from me too! Excellent idea!đđđđ (spoken as someone who has several hundred pounds of beeswax sitting around in brick sized blocks) that are a nightmare to work with and store!you've just given me a very pleasant weekend's worth of past time to use.đđđ€·ââïžđđđ (one of those things that keeps getting shoved to the end of the todo list because it's just SUCH a tedious chore and seems like there's no real solution..., yet now, I've suddenly gotten an inspiration!)
That's a RAINBOW!đ€·ââïžđđ„łđŠ
I use a cupcake liner. You can get some beautiful colors and designs!
Oooo, great idea! Thanks for sharing!
You can use a chocolate cutter for the blocks of waxes and hard oils. It looks like a small thick tined fork and works great
Thanks so much for the info. I'll look into getting one of those!
This is amazing thanks for sharing đđœ
You are so welcome!
Can't wait to try this recipe. Thank you so much for sharing. Also, I'm looking for the type of scale that you use in this video. Could you tell me where you got it? Thank you and I love all of your videos!!
Thank you âșïž! It's a postal scale from Amazon.
Love
I'm working as chef in a care home. I wash hands multiple times a day to begin with. However, having working through the pandemic is something else! Surprisingly, I still have skin left on my hand. I made half a batch of the recipe and it really saves my hands. My cracked fingertips heal much faster than using off-the-shelf lotion. Thank you for sharing the recipe .
So glad youâre enjoying itđ
You are such a doll. I love your videos, I wouldn't have waisted that last glove either. LOL Waist not want not.
đ„°đ
Thank you for sharing this beautiful recipe. You always give so much thought to your creations! Since there is no water phase, isnât this more of a butter bar than lotion?
Thank you! Yes, I guess it could be considered a "butter bar" , I like the sound of thatđ
I'm going to make this for my girls that are traveling to Spain in June, much better than carrying jars. Also wanted to reach out and pray that you and your family are safe, the tornados did horrible damage.
Yes, these make great traveling bars! And thank you for the prayers, our house was okay, but so many have damage. It's sad.
Hobby soaper here..made this with coconut oil, shea, bees wax, vitamin e, olive & collagen powder.. thank you for this recipe..its Awesome and cleared up my AZ dry skin..I love your videos, your so classy, Merry Christmas to you n your family..
Wonderful! Merry Christmas to you too!
Loved this video! Thank you! New subscribe for me! Also, where do you get dip gel nail supplies (now that I can't go to the salon). Thanks again đ
Thank you đ„° and welcome! I get my dip powders on eBay. But pepi gel is great toođ
So glad I found you!
Thank you for the recipe đđ»
I made it with the mint chocolate, itâs to die for...
One question if I may.
How can I get the lotion to dry quickly so I can put my clothes on. The bathroom lock is a bit unreliable đŹ
So glad you like it!đ
Hi Ellen! I love your recipes & videos đ
I had a question about this one, could I possibly substitute the arrowroot/carrot for cornstarch, or is there a reason why I shouldnât? Thanks in advance đ
I've not tried cornstarch. I would recommend a small test batch to see how you like it.
Hi Ellen, another wonderful video! I love watching you and love the paper you used for your labels. What color is it please? And where could I also please get your containers?
Containers are from Amazon, and the labels are kraft
This sounds like a fantastic product, I'm in Tasmania, Australia and we are going into Autumn then Winter my hands always dry out
It's a great soother for dry skin. I keep one by my sink, to use after washing..
As I render my beeswax from my hives I will pour it into large and small cupcake liners on my digital scale to measure out 1 ounce and 1/2 ounce portions and then pop them out when they harden and store them in an airtight container. The extra step saves me so much time and now I no longer have to fight the âbrickâ or measure! Use firm liners or double up, then let cool in the tins. I love your recipe!
Thanks for the fantastic tip! I bet that makes working with the beeswax much easier!
