I made this recipe for my daughter's boyfriend who has a beard...also, my husband who doesn't have a beard. Both rave about this salve and my daughters boyfriend says it is the best he has ever used on his beard and how soothing and moisturizing it is. My husband too, he loves how it makes his skin feel. Thank you so much Ellen, you truly have a sharing spirit and are a joy to watch!

I love that scent. It's an amazing fragrance. We are so much alike in our business. You are so sweet and explain things well. Thank you for all you do.
Oh thank you! It’s such a great scent👍
Hi! I made one test salve just now. I ran out of Shea today, so I used lard so far it’s setting up nicely.
Wow!! Thanks I'm try it.
I think I might make some for my dad for Father's day.
Will definitely give this a try since you said at the end of the video it can also be used for dry ends. Thank you for sharing. Love your videos 💐💐💐
You are so welcome! Enjoy💕
I followed this last week to make my own Beard Balm! My only change is I substituted Grapeseed Oil instead of Olive Oil otherwise I went step by step. This was so easy to make, and the balm is absolutely amazing! The Oak and Whiskey scent smells so good. I also made a second batch with the same brand of oils and bought their Pipe Tobacco scent which was equally as amazing! Thank you so much for this video!
I’ve been looking for something like this! There’s others but they don’t seem to be good like this one. I so appreciate it and will be trying it soon! THANKS SO MUCH!! Hugz, Tree
Awesome! I hope you love it💕
My husband has been asking me to make him something like this for a while now. This recipe looks good! Your recipes always are. ❤️ Thank you for sharing.
Hope he loves it! Have fun making❣️
Thank you for sharing this recipe. My husband also grew out his beard after 20 years in the Army and really needs a good balm.
Love the beards! Hope you love it❣️
Great recipe!
Oh my! Ellen you’re the best, thank you for the recipe, I’m going to try this for my hubby. I have used this fragrance from Morouge , love, love it!! I have used it for beard oil. I’m eventually going to make a cold processed soap to go with it. Thanks again for sharing.😘
It's such a great scent! Hubby loves it too❣️
Thank you looking forward to trying this!
You are so welcome!

Definitely going to make this balm for my dry hair!!
Hope you like it!❣️
Beautiful I’ve been wanting to try this & I know my husband would prefer it to the one he buys & I already have all the ingredients 😀
Awesome! Have fun making❣️
I made this today for my hubby who has a long thick beard. I changed the liquid oils for his skin. Omg he LOVES it❤ set up beautifully and in a 2 oz tin.
💗❣️
Babassu is a substitute for coconut oil I’m definitely trying this recipe today Thank you for sharing ❤
Ruth Ellen, thank you so much for your knowledge and kind spirit. I have used a couple of your recipes and my family members have greatly enjoyed them. It took a hot minute to figure out what you meant by giving me the percentages to figure out how to scale up or down the recipe. I work as a nurse, and some days, are extremely stressful. By listening to your voice, and making your recipes relaxes me, and give me comfort in creating something people will enjoy. I will always be grateful to you and your kind spirit...
Thank you so much for your sweet words🥰 Have fun making!
I agree I copied her emulsified body butter and sugar scrub recipe , you gave me a idea to tweak my own recipe do you have a recipe for a face oil?
So many nourishing ingredients. Babassu would be a great substitute for coconut oil. It’s very moisturizing for hair. I learned this years ago from a young lady promoting products with it before it was a thing in North America. She worked at an orphanage in Costa Rica I think and the local women used it in their hair and you only need a little to keep it hydrated, particularly for coarse, kinky, coily hair. Perfect for beards because men’s face hair is more coarse and thick. Love your channel. ❤
Thank you for the great info on babassu oil!💕
Hi Ellen, thank you so much for your tutorials!!! Question if possible can you make a video on fragrance Oils % usage? I can not comprehend on how it is measured and turned into grams.
I love making beard balms. Hubby loves them, especially if I make it with matching beard oil. Thanks for sharing, Ellen. 😘
Love that! Gotta pamper those men folk❣️
This is definitely one I'll be trying. Thanks so much Ellen. Side point - I made your choc-mint lip balm a few months ago and have given away several tubes to family and friends. They all ABSOLUTELY RAVE about it (two people say it's the best they've ever used - one ladies husband, who is a cattleman, took hers and it never leaves his pocket, I'll have to send her another one). Such a beautiful simple recipe and yet so loved by my family and friends. Thanks again Ellen - you're a legend for sharing.
I'm so glad you're enjoying the lip balm recipe❣️
Where can I find that recipe please? I've looked all through them :(
Watched a few of your videos and they are very good and informative. Just come across this last week and will be doing this to add a new product line, can i ask have you made a beard oil video? Happy New Year to you too
I don't have a beard oil video yet, but will in the future👍
thx for the recipe have a awsome day
Thank you! You too!
Hi Ellen, just want to say that last weekend I made a batch of 24 of these beard balms the way you did. It really is such an easy recipe to follow and was also so nice to make. The only difference I did with mine is that I used candelilla wax instead of beeswax and argan oil instead of jojoba oil. I used 8 different aftershave inspired fragrance oils and all turned out brilliantly. Thanks for a wonderful and easy beard balm recipe 😊
Wonderful!💕
Amazing ❤❤❤
Can’t wait to make. Thank you. Do you have
Laser printer for your labels?
Great, have fun making! I have an ink jet printer.
Both my son and son-in-law have beards. They use beard balm & beard oil all the time. I need to make this for them.
I love this fomula, it's so nice on beards❣️
"The ingredients in here are boss" LOL! Love you Ellen! But thank you! I saved this I will def try this for my guy :)
Hope you like it!💕
Ellen I loved this. My hubby has a full beard and as of yet he hasn't found a balm he likes, so this is something that I would definitely consider trying out. I am only just starting making soap and doing melt and pour which I think everyone starts with. If you could recommend any good recipes I would be very grateful.
I'm not an expert at MP, but Bramble Berry has some great resources on it. Have fun making!
I'm just starting out as well and my husband also has a full beard. He was so happy when I told him about this recipe but asked if there was a matching beard oil. Any help with making a matching beard oil would be truly appreciated.
Good afternoon...I love your video..very informative...do u have a recipe for a bigger batch?
You can multiply this recipe to any size needed.
Thank you!
O să încerc rețeta.💚
👍💕
This balm looks wonderful. I am going to make some for my brother. I am sure he will love it. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
I have a question regarding lotion bars. I made a batch and for some reason I increased the oils and butters and they are too soft. If I melt them down slowly and add more beeswax, and maybe cocoa butter and/or kokum butter would they be useable? If not I will just pitch them now and try again later. Thanks so much for your help and sharing your vast knowledge. Debbie
Yes, you can remelt (on low temp) and add a bit more beeswax.
Love it
Hi, I'm new to your channel What an awesome, very informative video. I'm just about to order some Hemp Seed Oil and once it arrives I'll be making some. I'll let you know how I go. Thank you
Wow super 👌🙌🏻✨❤
Thank you so much for this recipe, i liké it and i will do it for my husband
Hope you enjoy❣️
Yes so much
Going to give this a go on my fellas sons xx
Hope they love it❣️
Could you do a beard oil recipe?
Yes, I'm working on it now😉
I'm going to try your recipe for my next batch of beard balm. Do you have a video showing how you clean up your tins, cups, bowls, tins, etc. after making balm or butter? I like to reuse my tins especially, but never seem to get them as clean as I want.
A cleaning video is a great suggestion! Thanks.
Ellen question for you, what type of shea butter do you use? Natural? Refined? etc? And thank you so much! You help inspire me to try creating new beard products!
I've used both refined and unrefined, I like them both. It's really just a personal preference and whether you like the natural scents..
I made my first beard balm. Just threw it together. 😬 I’ll plan better next time. But I used vitamin E oil and homemade comfrey extract in it. It’s working pretty well but I want to formulate it better especially for scent but the beard is softer than with commercially available beard balms.
Babassu oil is excellent sub for coconut oil, same texture but many more skin benefits
Yes! I can't wait to try it in another formula, and test it out for myself💕
Ellen can you do a tutorial on Bezion in balms Not to sure how to use it or add it in
Great suggestion!
Thank you for this loved this! I was wondering what is the brand or company for your fragrance please? Do I need to search key thing like food grade? Any direction will be appreciated Thanks Again!!
Morouge CA, there's a link with discount code in the description box.
I love your recipe. However, I only have Olive and Grapeseed Oils. Is this will make it smooth? At what temperature I can add the fragrance? My nephews all have bears. Always asked me for a lotion or balm. This will be great for them. Thank you Mrs. Ellen
Yes, you can sub any liquid oil in this recipe. No specific temp, just enough to melt the beeswax.
Hi Ellen, where i can find that spatula that you are using in this video?Im in love with that spatula❤
I can't find the exact one, but here are a few similar: amzn.to/3LmwOjz amzn.to/3HyXX1E
@@EllenRuthSoap Thank you tha k you🙏
As I have said in the past I love your videos. I do have a quick question. Why do soapers weigh on a scale your solids and your liquids it is confusing my chemistry in my head?
It's easier to melt the hard oils and butters first, so you're not overheating all the oils..
Could you use castor oil in this?
Your videos are magical thank you for sharing so much!
Yes, you could replace some of the liquid oil for castor.
Hi Ellen! I made this except l made it vegan & added sunflower oil instead of jojoba oil. My fiancé will be my Guinea pig. 😂 I’m giving him 2 weeks to try it & see if it will work on his skin & beard. ❤️💕
thank you, next on my to do list, maybe with calendula oil with some other fragrance because this whiskey is not reachable to me :-( but first one is to make is your non grease lotion :-) thank you
Have fun making 💕
How or what would be added to make a beard butter?
Thanks!
Also… are there recommendations for where to procure the different raw elements?
This formula does include butters, it's very conditioning.
Ellen, what are the benefits to using the hemp seed oil in this product? Could I make the balm without it?
I love the moisturizing of hempseed oil, but you could sub any good liquid oil in this formulation.
I will to give this a try today my question is can I use kokum butter instead of coco butter?
Yes 👍 kokum would be great in this.
Do you mind sharing the brand of beeswax you used and where you purchased?
Here is the one I am currently liking: amzn.to/3S3xmPT
Nice video in names recipe. But I have a question for you I buy essential oil from Amazon Folkulture Mens Essential Oil Those kind of oil are good to put on the beard blam beard oil ?
Thank you have a great day
I'm not familiar with that brand, but essential oils are fabulous in this formulation👍
I would like to add black castor oil. What should I reduce to accomodate for the addition? I want to make this for my husband. Can I also make this into a beard butter or do you have a recipe for that also?
You can replace a liquid oil with another liquid 👍
Hi Ruth! So this is for making two- 2oz tins correct??
Yes 😊
Babassu Oil is a wonderful substitute for coconut oil
Yes, thanks❣️
I have a coconut oil allergy and I’m able to use babassu oil it has some of the same properties of coconut oil I have read on Google some people who are allergic to coconut may have an allergic reaction but I haven’t experienced one
I've not worked with babassu oil, but have heard that it's a great sub for coconut.
Will the hemp seed oil be a concern for drug testing, if so do you have an alternate suggestion. Thanks
No, it's not the same as CBD oil😉
Ellen can I just ask, I've ordered my 2oz tins, for to give this recipe a go, and realised there aluminium is this a problem.please say it's okay, I've only just started making soap etc, and have been waiting a while for the ingredients etc to arrive, and I now have everything to give it a go, yeah 😊. 🥰🇬🇧
Yes, for lotions and salves the aluminum is fine. Just don't use them for CP soap😉
@@EllenRuthSoap Thank you Ellen. 🥰
My fiancé has extremely sensitive skin. We’re getting married right around the corner. Anyway, l was reading several beard balms he bought had a lot of fillers like alcohol, which has known to cause dryness. Anyway, l got tired of him wasting money on beard products that hasn’t improved or made his beard softer. So since l’m frugal like Ellen & natural products l told him l got a recipe from Ellen Ruth, his like “when did you have a friend named Ellen Ruth.”😂 Anyway, Ellen l’ll have to try your recipe except l’m absolutely in LOVE with parrila (sp) wax vegan, vitamin E & organic cedar essential oil. We’ll be combining our finances once we’re married so told him l’ll make the next beard balm. So even though l’m not following your recipe exactly but watching you make the video it looks less intimidating. Sorry, I’m totally rambling here. I found all my products & l even found 2oz tin sliver cans at the Dollar Tree very similar to the ones on Amazon but $0.04 less & no shipping. Boy LOVE a bargain. I’ll let ya’ll know how it turns out. ❤️💕🎊🎉🥳 Very excited & thankful to learn something new as well as useful. 🤓💓💖💝
I do love a good bargain! Have fun making❣️
Ellen, I’m allergic to Hemp. What would recommend as a substitute for this?
You can sub with any good liquid oil👍
Hi Ellen! I made this a few weeks ago and my husband has been using it and loves it. However as he has gotten towards the bottom, it’s getting very mushy, almost too liquidy, and grainy. Any ideas why?
Hmm, that's an interesting issue?? Maybe it wasn't mixed super well and had a bit of separation?
Hi Ellen! What would u say if we wanted to add ESSENTIAL oil instead of fragrance oil? How many drops would we add?? TIA
Bramble Berry has an essential oil calc😉
@@EllenRuthSoap Aweome ! Thank u Kindly Ellen!
Babassu oil is similar in texture & consistency to Coconut oil.
I’ve heard that👍 Now I need to get some and experiment ❣️
Can I use blackseed oil instead of the hemp seed oil?
Yes👍
Ruth Ellen could you covert grams to oz's please? My mind cannot wrap around grams. I want to make a large batch to give away to friends and family, or more specifically scale to to a large size instead of making two? I don't want to make a mistake and ruin my expensive oils and butters.. Thank you for your time
The recipe in the description box is in % so you can scale it as much as needed and it works in both grams and oz. Also google has a great grams to oz feature.
tyvm ellen. does the whiskey come out in this scent. i wanted to sell to guys at church. great video tyvm
To me it's just masculine, not boozy smelling😉
Love this, can't wait to try it... On a side note, why would a man throw beard balm in a shaving kit? Lol
Can I use shea butter instead of the cocobutter?
Yes 👍
Can soywax be used in seats of beeswax?
Coconut oil - can one use fractured so it’s not solid?
No, Soywax wouldn’t be a good substitute, you could use candelilla wax instead. And you don’t want to replace the solid oils with liquid oils because it will affect the final consistency.
Can you make a Copy cat Jones Road Miracle Balm
Great idea, I'll look into the formula❣️
Love your videos Thank you so much for sharing with us. I would like to know a good substitution for the hemp seed oil I am very allergic to anything with hemp but would love to try and make this Thanks!
You can sub with any good liquid oil 👍
is the fragrance the same as an essential oil
No, fragrance is a synthetic scent.
i made the recipe up the other day and when i went to pour it into the tins it set really quickly and it has lumps in it like it wasn't mixed well but i did mix it very well and i used candelilla wax but it is great to use on my dry and frizzy hair. Is there any way of making sure it is a liquid form before i pour it into the tins
It sounds like it was cooling unevenly. You can try pouring while it's still very warm, that helps.
@@EllenRuthSoap thanks i will try the recipe again this week
If we were to add a preservative, what amount would it be?
Look up whatever preservative you're using, they should provide a usage % rate
All I have is my phone. How do I make a label for my soap? How do I make an image and upload it to onlinelabels?
Their Maestro label designer has templates you can use, and they'll custom print for you.
Ooh rah
My coconut oil is liquify do I still use same amount, should I be keeping in refrigerator?
I use the solid coconut oil, it helps with the firm texture.
@@EllenRuthSoap should I keep in refrigerator then?
What batch size is this in grams? And could you use colloidal oats to prevent itchy skin?
Yes, you could add some coloidal oats👍 google has a great oz to grams function.
Ok thank you! Also I want to use candelilla wax instead of beeswax but I’m having a hard time knowing how much of it to add to replace the beeswax. I’ve done lots of research but I’m not finding a lot of helpful answers
