I can't wait to learn Danish properly so I will be able to read some of the Danish books that you suggest on your videos! And Denmark during autumn is so nice!
Thank you for posting about your reading slump Helene. I'm in a bit of a reading slump in the way that I haven't felt much like reading lately. I keep putting books down and I think it's because I've been over reading. Since I'm ahead in my Goodreads Reading Challenge I might take a break to refresh myself. There are good books out there but I'm not sure I could fully enjoy them the way I feel right now. It's nice to know other avid readers go through the same thing.
I went through what you were talking about and one way I got over it a bit was to read three pages of a book and if I wasn’t wowed and I mean completely absorbed by the writing and the premise I would DFN the book. I went through maybe ten books before I finally found one that worked for me. There are too many luke-warm reads sometimes that they distract from the ones that get you excited about reading.
Hello, Helene! Here in the almost-middle of the U.S. where I live we had our first snowfall, just a little bit but the first.---I LOVE to take naps! I sleep better in the daytime than at night!---"Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" was a very popular book here, about a real-life murder in the southern city of Savannah, Georgia, and it was made into a movie. The statue on the front used to be in a cemetery but is now in a museum.---Helene, you got me started on using bookmarks and I'm even thinking about making some.---I just began reading "The Situation and the Story--the Art of Personal Narrative" by Vivian Gornick.---I have so many unread books that I figure it would take, literally, around 20 years to read them so I'm doing a big downsize so I can be more of a minimalist and focus on the books I truly want to read.
You're inspiring me to actually reread the books I've been planning to reread for so long! I love to reread but after starting a booktube channel, I find it so hard to do. Which is silly! Although, I did also reread the 6th Harry Potter book as well this month! Or at least, I got through most of it. :)
Helene, I enjoyed your video, as always and I loved seeing Zeus. Sorry to hear you are in a reading slump. When that happens to me I reread something I enjoyed or I pick up something I've been wanting to read. I always have several new books put away by some of my favorite authors that I really want to read. I grab one of them when I'm in that I don't know what to read mood.
I've had Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil on my shelf for years. I've read the first chapter a few times and really enjoyed it, but I guess I've been trying to savor it a little too much, because I keep delaying it. hahaha
Oh no such a pity you didn't enjoy The Roanoke Girls. I loved it even though it was really... um.. uncomfortable sometimes. I am so happy to hear you are a Coho fan! I recently got Without Merit but haven't picked it up yet. Really haven't heard the best things about it to be honest!
Sounds like you are going thru bit of a reading slump. Various things can bring that on, they generally aren't anything to worry about. Try to change it up by reading something completely different, or not reading at all for 1-3 days. I somewhat regularly experience reading slumps...they are brought on by trying to do a certain amount of reading daily, plus with due dates of some of the books (From the library.)can make me ambivalent to completing that goal.
Your reading slump makes me feel better, because I have this vision of you ALWAYS enjoying reading. But it turns out you're a normal person, after all! Ha. I can't remember: Have you read "Little Fires Everywhere" yet? If not, pick that one up. Amazing! 😊
Suzanne Tobias Wow that’s good to hear! It kind of makes me feel less of a pressure to read :) I haven’t read “Little Fires Everywhere” yet but I might do that soon!
Hi, Helene I wonder is you listen to music when you read or reread ? if you do what type of music. and I have recommended book in mind that I would like to share "WEAPONS of MASS INSTRUCTION" by John Taylor GATTO. :)
Larissa Surace Thanks! I always worry about Zeus when I’m away because he’s alone and an in-door cat. However, if I’m gone for less than 24 hours he’s perfectly fine on his own (I make sure he’s got plenty of food, the litter is empty and I leave snacks around the apartment for him to find). If I’m gone for over 24 hours I make sure someone stays with him or comes by to check up on him. Good luck with your new pet 😊
I love that you devoted so much time to rereads this month, I don't spend enough time rereading old favourites and I really need to do it!

What sort of pens do you use on the bookmarks? They came out so nice.
Try another reread of a book you love.

Great vlog! What do you do with Zeus when you go away?? I’ve just got a cat, but don’t know what to do if I have to go away!
