  • In some cases getting bodywork done to fix rusty, dinged, damaged or cut sheet metal on your Chevrolet or GMC Pickup just doesn't make financial sense. That was the case with our '62 project, so we decided to install new bed sides and as always, Dave Welch provided the expertise during the installation.

    I’ve had to weld the heads of bolts to keep them from spinning, then grind them off.

      We did not weld this set of panels. We've done this welded and non welded and it seems just about the same either way. Obviously welded would look more original.

    All these videos are saved. I have a crease dent on my front quarter panel and need to get the wheel well off to repair the dent from the backside, but don’t know how to remove the front quarter or the wheel well. Maybe this would be a good “how to”. Trying to preserve the patina

    Question: you didn’t have to weld anything ?because on the back part you had to grind the Back Welds - did you re-weld what you Grinded off ?

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
      @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV  Před 3 lety

      We didn't weld them back up. You could, but we didn't think it was 100% necessary.

  • @pauldow1648
    @pauldow1648 Před 2 lety +1

    Hey - Mr.welch.....
    Was waiting to see when you welded the points where the rear of the sides meet the ends of the bed/tail rail. You did weld it up didn't you ?

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
      @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV  Před 2 lety

      Yes, we did just a couple of tack welds like the factory did around the bottom of the stake pocket where it meets the bed floor/rear support.

  • @raymondpadilla65
    @raymondpadilla65 Před 3 lety +3

    do these panels have to be welded in the back corners like the original or just bolt on would be ok? always good videos

    • @pauldow1648
      @pauldow1648 Před 3 lety +3

      Yea. Good point.
      I would say yes. Make it pertty with some migging.

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
      @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV  Před 3 lety +3

      You can leave them bolted, or weld it back together. We've done both and it doesn't seem to make a difference either way. Obviously welded will look more original.
