    0:38 Types of dermatitis
1:42 How dermatitis is typically treated
2:38 The best natural remedy for dermatitis
    4:35 Vitamin D benefits
In this video, we’re going to talk about dermatitis. Dermatitis means inflammation of the skin, and there are many different types.
At their core, skin problems are either related to an allergy or an immune reaction. You can consider many cases of dermatitis as an over-reactive immune system.
Topical and oral steroids are the most common treatments of dermatitis. They work by suppressing the immune system. Antibiotics are also commonly used to treat cases of dermatitis but often lead to a secondary infection.
The superficial layer of your skin contains a multitude of microbes and acts as a barrier for your lymphatic tissue and blood vessels. These tissues are full of immune cells ready to protect you against foreign invaders.
Dermatitis seems to respond positively to vitamin D. For example, vitamin D works to mitigate symptoms of contact dermatitis by lowering the histamine response. Vitamin D is the main regulator of the immune system.
Skin conditions are typically worse in the winter when we get less vitamin D. They are also worse when a person is under stress. When you raise cortisol levels from stress, you deplete vitamin D.
Vitamin D can decrease acne by shrinking and normalizing the sebaceous glands. This can help regulate the overproduction of oil, decreasing acne breakouts. Seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp is also known as dandruff. Vitamin D cream can help reduce dandruff.
Eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, and alopecia are all related to vitamin D deficiency. Microbes involved in certain skin issues can reduce the vitamin D receptors in your skin, allowing them to survive.

In the UK, the doctors never bothered too much to investigate my daughter's skin condition deeply. We always heard that it was an allergy, which, according to them, is quite simple and normal for her age. She has always suffered, and after an exhaustive pursuit of any doctor who could give her a proper diagnosis, we now understand the whole picture much better. However, in order to help her live a normal life, as parents, we have to continue researching on our own. Finally kicked it and it's never returned. It's been 6 years. It absolutely is from stress on the body.

20-40% of Northern Europeans and also other people across the world have a mutation of the Filaggrin gene that causes a decrease in the production of the Filaggrin protein essential to the keratinocyte layer of the epithelium the outer mist skin layer. This allows an increase in length of small sensory neurons called nociceptors. On these nerve fibers TRPA1 and TRPV1 are up-regulated and are highly responsive to stimuli from food agonists such as red and black pepper, mustard oil, garlic, cinnamon, low pH, environmental agents, malathion etc. Vitamin D is a partial agonist of TRPV1 and likely the other TRP channels too. As a partial agonist D blocks complete agonists. This keeps the TRP stimulation of inflammatory neuropeptides CGRP and SP down. The loss-of-function null mutation of the FLG gene also causes an increase in the neurotrophin artemin down that stimulates the receptor GRPa3 that stimulates other neurons and tissues in other responses such as nicotinic acetylcholine and muscle cramps etc. all part of small fiber neuropathy syndrome where you will find a loss of epidermal nerve fibers as they burn out from too much stimulation.

A "therapeutic dose" of vitamin D is 50,000 IU. This is the dose prescribed when you're diagnosed as Vitamin D deficient. A single pill. Your body uses it in so many places it'll be soaked right up.
The average Vitamin D supplement contains 1,000-2,000 IU per pill. A good maintenance dose is 8,000-10,000 IU per day. Take that for six weeks and get ready to feel amazing!

The only thing that was written down from dozens of doctor appointments was that I wouldn’t let them take my weight. Luckily he took one look at me from down the hall And said what’s up with the lady with scabies oh my God I don’t know why they are not able to diagnose scabies adults so I suffered with it for a few months. I can’t imagine going a year oh my God there would be nothing left of my arms and legs, I survived lidocaine spray but at night time it was unbearable. I went to the ER because of the absolute pain at one point.

    Hi Dr. Berg.
I've been following your videos for quite some time now and was more than pleased to find a video dedicated to the problem I've been facing for 2 years now: Seborrheic Dermatitis.
Oct. 2023 blood test showed my D3 was 19 and ferritin was 37. Didn't do anything as I thought my SD was due to my extremely oily skin and extreme workout sessions and not the deficiency. I lost 50-100 hairs per day for the last 2 years when I didn't use to lose even 5, 3 years before. Density, volume, hair strand thickness decreased throughout my scalp (no AGA).
Ketoconazole, Finasteride didn't seem to work well too.
Now that you mention it, I have started taking vitamn D3, Iron, B-vit., Zn and Mg supplements alongside Omega-3. Will check changes in SD and blood levels in 2 months.
    Thanks a lot.
Keep up the great work Doc.❤

  • @BeforeThisNovember
    @BeforeThisNovember Před 27 dny +5

I developed scalp psoriasis in my early teens. Had it on and off throughout my life (I’m about 30 now) but it was always manageable. Was always there but never noticeable.
Recently, around 3 months ago - I had a highly stressful event in my life - it flared up with a vengeance. It started creeping below my hairline and over my forehead. It was now also in my eyebrows and side of my head - 2 places it had never been before.
Well fast forward to now, for the past month I’ve been focusing on to let go of all stress (I’ve been working on positive thoughts and mental health). I cut out all junk food (was binging again since I was in a bad place, mentally) well recently I’ve felt better than I have for years. And what do you know, my psoriasis has almost gone. Like completely gone.
It’s not on my forehead, eyebrows, side of head at all (save for a VERY light pink hue thats almost gone) and the scalp is almost clear completely. Like.. a normal scalp. Its only been this clear a handful of times in the 15+ years I’ve had it.
Make of that what you will. Hope it helps someone.
Oh sorry, forgot to add one of the most important parts - I’ve been getting in the sun a lot more (since it’s finally almost summer where I live). I believe this has played a huge part - trying to get about an hour of direct sunlight on my skin a day.
