Hey. I'm considering building one of the mini speed boat versions to use for canal and river fishing. Are there any plans or dimensions to help me with a good starting point? I have to day, I love these videos and mini power boats. Please keep posting up videos to spread the popularity.
You guys should try putting a water pump on these. That’s what I want to do. Harbor freight has a 2 inch water pump that would run all day long for cheap. Way easier mounting and no holes in the hull because the pipes could just route over the top of the transom area.
+TheFillyFill that would be awesome! Then it would be easy to direct the flow for steering as well! I'm a little concerned about the speed vs the power needed though. It takes a lot of energy to suck up water, swirl it and shoot it back into water in order to propeller boat forward. I'd love if you did it so we would all know because that would be sweet! +Anders Larson hey Anders! Yeah were not going to have any water soon!! Im also thinking of ideas for winter vids! As i read this i can think of a couple ideas.. of course a repair would be good but add an eplanation of the process that someone could use on a new build..(fiberglassing etc.) Another thing would be set up a tripod in your garage with boat in veiw and go over what you would change, keep the same etc. Go even go into how to build this kind of thing as a youngin! (I built a row boat with my dad when i was ten and it took two years because i couldnt drive or use specialty tools. It was super hard not being able to drive! Haha) if youve learned anything about boating or building or handling that would be good! Types of wood you used screws tools idk im just spitting out ideas for both of us! Good luck and for sure get a tripod or books or something stable (tons of people told me this lol)

+coojsta69 thank you! If havnt taken them that far yet, but after about twenty minutes the small battery is halfway and the bigger battery is a bit more. With a good marine deep cycle battery that can be drained, it should go for 2 hrs at full speed and up to 12 hours at the lowest speed!! You cam imagine if you take breaks how long you could drag it out! Thanks for watching!! More to come!

Ah i see! Well the motor goes through the floor through a sink drain then a section of bike innertube is hose clamped around them so water cant get in but the motor shaft can still rotate. I have a guide on how to build a boat it uses this one as an example. Its for sale at : gumroad half craft its kinda hard to explain but basically cut and recut till the dimensions are correct! Seriously thats how i do it!

@@Crostplay thanks! Its much harder than you might expect! Its hard to know what people do and dont know. Ie: some people just need drawing and some need instruction on how to use a saw and a drill etc. Most are somewhere in between!

most good sized marine batteries will last a good 3 hrs on full blast.. i sugest getting a 30lb thrust minn kota just because you can usually get them for $100 and the higher pound thrust motor dont go any faster. maybe a tiny bit faster but not worth it for most people
In rough water those boats will sink! 😨 I almost sank a unsinkable aluminum boat but it had foam in the seats. But those boats are made of wood tho that floats, but in a quick rainstorm on a big lake I had my boat underwater.

+Bobob Jojack i got it at home depot. Called super glaze or something like that. 2 boxes and two little packs of fiberglass for the bottom and bottom corners.

+Bills BuildAll it acctually doesnt break 3mph with both motors! I swear my gps is wrong because it feels faster... maybe its slower with extra battery and dead motor, and then when it kicks in, its back to what it would be with one motor... i need a more accurate speedo. Two motors isnt much faster for sure sadly
I think your two motors system could be set up better. The issue is prop wash from the one in front. The rear motors is trying to push through the turbulence created by the front motor. If they were mounted side by side you may see better results. Just my two cents. I love your boats and videos. Please keep on Keepin' on and posting updates.
+Scott p i think you are right! Thats likely my next move. The other benefit could be throttle steering. Im not sure if it would be as nice as it sounds but it would be super super simple!! Both foward would hopefully be faster than single! It would kinda suck to loose the steering wheel but easier to get in and out! Idk well see! Stay tuned!

This particular spot is right where Coeur d alene lake turns into the Spokane River in North Idaho. The bridge that you can see briefly in the video is hwy. 95
This little inlet (lazy river) is actually called Blackwell island boat launch and recreation area!
