The GS pano was a grail of mine for nearly 20 years. Finally picked one up last year. Couldn't be happier!
Outstanding choice, one day I will have one, hopefully! In the meantime, enjoy yours a little extra for me..
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Which dial color did you go for?
@@pacovl46I got the exact watch in this video.
That's cool man. The pano was on my wish list some 15 years ago. But it somehow went off my radar. Wear it in good health
Enjoy it ☺️
I own this watch and wore it at my wedding. Grey dial, a watch that doesn't shout but sits on my wrist with quiet confidence and sophistication. Its steel case and 50m water resistance makes it a great daily wearer if it is one's only watch.
20 years ago, I wouldn't have given this watch a second glance, but as you say, "tastes change". I was going to say that I daren't Google the price, but then you said $10,000 and I was pleasantly surprised, I was expecting more like $30K!
I would find myself wearing it "inside out" just to stare at the beautiful movement 😍
👍🏻
u can get the PanoInverse then ;)
I'm a big fan of Glasshütte Original. Not only are they well priced at retail for impressively made and finished dials and movements, but they are criminally undervalued when buying pre-owned. This seems to be the case for a lot of higher end Swatch Group brands like Blancpain and Breguet as well.
A prime example of where history meets engineering, art, design, fashion. An intoxicating mix that draws watch enthusiasts like a moth to a flame!
So true, well said, thank you!
Best regards,
TGV
Just acquired my grail of 20 years: the Panoreserve. It is so so special. The blue dial is mesmerizing in different lights and shadows and the subtle details are always there to remind you how special and beautiful it is. It lives up to the hype and if you’re a fan of a big date window, nothing comes close to offering that “digital” look in an analogue form factor. It’s truly a watch worthy of grail status.
So glad you’ve done this video, a real treat I have to say…because for me Glasshütte never seem to put a foot wrong, everything they make is exquisite.
👏👏👏👏 Thank you Peter, I only wish I could make this several hours, so much to unpack.
Best as always
TGV
GO has a lot of panache in an industry where everything is so derivative and conservative. They combine the respect for old world knowledge needed for custom-made movements with the out-of-the-box thinking to have a very unique design, and the mix of both to have something that looks elegant after all is said and done
Glashütte Original has been on my mind lately - always appreciate your take TGV. Thanks for the content you provide!
Thank you TGV for both an informative and entertaining introduction to a watch I had never had the opportunity to see in the flesh. The editing and style of the video is unmatched!!
The intro video is a remarkable passage of time, the fluidity is exceptional! The movement is very beautiful, especially the swan neck regulator! Thanks for another true review!! Best regards!
If you think how damn small the town Glashütte is, just a couple of streets, its crazy to imagine how many horological heavy hitters sit there. A true powerhouse.
I’m glad you finally reviewed this watch. I love this watch!
A great review TGV I really loved the watch and you were honest ,fair and reasonable in all your thoughts on this timepiece and they all made sense I love your channel for a long time and thoroughly enjoy work thankyou love and respect David❤
I bought a SeaQ earlier in the year, obviously a different style but the craftsmanship GO offer is excellent.
This is the best video on watches I’ve ever seen which combines history and art with watch review. Thank you.
Amazing craftsmanship. Wonderful spotlighting this iconic brand. Thank you TGV!
Eloquence, Elegance, Sophistication & Horology in one blissful episode.... Salut
A fantastic review Tristano! I have been a huge fan and collector of GO for years now as the Panomatic Lunar if one of their Crown Jewels. The brand is hugely unappreciated and thus represents undisputed value. Thank you!
Best intros. You always bring your A-game.
Great vid! It looks as though you put even more time into editing this one than usual? The amount of B-roll and the use of it makes it a joy to watch, it looks great.
What a stunner of a watch. A short time living in Germany in my early 20s has left me with a great fondness for the country which includes their watches. This would certainly be a great grail piece. Looking forward to seeing which eventually you choose. Enjoy the week sir
Loved this video. Another potential watch for my collection. Thank you so much!
Great video TGV!!! Always loved Glashütte Original especially the PanoMatics, Was lucky enough to visit Glashütte this year for my 50th and have a tour of the Deutschen Uhrenmuseum Glashütte ... increadible watch making history in such a beautiful place! Glashütte Original on list for 2024 !
Really appreciating this coverage! Relatedly, I sometimes think I could be happy with an all-German collection of three. So many brilliant German watchmakers to patron and admire. Cheers
I'm so glad you finally got to review the Panomatic Lunar! That watch has been a grail of mine forever! I don't think being part of the Swatch group is a guarantee of soullessness and this is a perfect example of that.
Why does that not surprise me my friend! I hope you make it a reality one day.
Well said on your latter point. Onwards, upwards and thank you as ever!
Best regards,
TGV
Great review as always. So much information. Thank you for providing it and great to hear from Peter Henlein in your videos. Greetings from Nuremberg!
Hello TGV,
I love your channel, not just for the watches, but for the way you present them with a few words of wisdom. Your style is great and respectful. I love Casio and am from the middle of society. So much history for the little man. I wish you, your lovely wife and Hugo a Merry Christmas and relaxing holidays. Greetings from Germany my friend and stay as you are!!
The PanoMaticLunar is one of my favorite pieces, nice to see you review it!
Javi, you are a person of class, thank you as always my friend.
Best,
T.
Amazing review TGV, cant wait to find out what your grail watch is! Cheers
Get back from watchmaking class at 11pm on Monday’s, a small nip…ok a big nip…of classy whisky and an even classier UG video. Perfect. I didn’t realize the heart of German watchmaking ended up in the east, going to read more. Cheers!
... and one of only few fellow overseas youtubers who's taking care of pronouncing Glashütte perfectly right, thanks TGV 👍🏻
Excellent piece and excellent review. Pure Class! I prefer their other watch that you gave us a glimpse of in an earlier video - think it's called the Panodate or something along those lines . The way that the one had the lumed indices looks great under low light. Also I really liked the layout of that one. I can see why Glashutte is a grail for so many people. They are just so alluring!
Got myself this on my 30th birthday as a milestone. No regrets at all, pure bliss.
👏👏👏 I wish I was as classy as you my friend when I turned 30. Congrats and enjoy.
Best regards,
TGV
The movement is the real superstar here. What a knockout.
What a beauty! Thanks for the detailed review. 👍
Got a used blue dial one a few months ago, used, 1 year old with box, parts and manual for $6900. Absolutely love it. Came on blue leather with deployment clasp. But I just but on an inexpensive Barton quick release Blue Croc pattern leather and it really looks well. I have a Longines Titanium big eye at 41mm and 14.5 thick and it’s a joy to wear, the GO is very comfortable to wear all day.
Great video TGV. Always enjoy the hard work you put into to filming watches no matter if they're a lower or much higher price.
There is some magic factor in the German engineering items;)! Thanks for the great content as always, and have a great week ahead, Sir TGV!
I bought this watch a few months ago and really enjoy wearing it. It is a really handsome looking watch. Both the dial front and the case back movement are a visual treat to observe.
Seasonal greetings Guv’nor, another banger of excellent content and cinematography!
Probablement la plus belle montre de l'histoire de l'humanité
Great, well written review of an absolute grail
My grail seems to be an ever-changing thing but Glashutte Original seems to be a recurring feature. Was so glad to see you covering this piece!
A great review as usual with great information & history. I just bought second hand the PanaMaticVenue. 39.3mm with a second time zone placed where the moonphase is. Great watch. Wish it had lume but as a dress watch maybe not needed :) double folding clasp makes it more elegant and not over size as you mentioned. Great combo with my Explorer 39mm :)
Very nice, love the display back I’m a real fan of being able to see the movements in a watch.
I always feel like I've learnt something from these videos. Thank you
That makes it all worth it!
Thank you 🙏 😊 Onwards and upwards!
Best regards,
TGV
Another great production. This brand is very underrated!
I have been collecting watches for over 40 years, and I have been lucky enough to have had most watches at some point. I have this watch in my collection and it is a beautiful piece but as you are now aware there is nothing quite like a Panerai.
Really enjoying your grail journey theme. Keep them coming! Greetings from Norwich uk
I like the way you put design elements in cultural and historical context and now I am going to have to find that whole three part Meades series again.
Any fan of Meades is good people!
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Excellent review of an amazing watch. It’s definitely on my short list for potential grail watches. I like the gold version
This model is one of my grails, happy to hear it be praised on its own merits than be seen as a "budget Lange." As always, appreciate hearing your perspectives and history lessons !
Another masterpiece in editing and storytelling.
Thx TGV
Oh by the way the watch are a beast too..
Thank you so much, very kind of you to say. O&U!
Best regards,
TGV
Again, another extraordinary history lesson and review. Who would have thought a company who would do anything to sell you a Mission to Uranus 🤔 could be the parent company of such sophistication and design. Danke!
Thanks for another Great presentation .
This Brand and Model really does speak to me ever so
urbanely and eloquently .
As do you , Good Sir 😉
I really appreciate your videos.🎉
Another amazing video 👏👏👏
What an intro!!! Pure class Sir!
🙏🙏🙏 Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Watching this video, I was struck (and not for the first time) about how terrific your video production is. It’s even classier than the PanoMatic :)
Always such a delight to watch, and learn.
That's one stunning watch... thanks for sharing. John
While dress watches personally aren’t my style I can appreciate the beauty in them. They are works of art. Thanks again for another video TGV!
My second luxury watch, after my Sub 16613 (new, bought in 1998), was a Glashütte Senator moon/power reserve in 18kt yellow (39-44-01-11-04) that I purchased from a G.O. boutique in 2007. The back story of G.O. is what drew me to the watch...and this particular model really hit all of the points I wanted in a very special dress watch. It has not disappointed.
You are KILLING me. I'm trying to decide between this watch and the Grand Seiko Cherry Blossom which is cheaper . . . and here this video is! I'm thinking you're gonna have me shelling out the bigger bucks. That date window . . . that movement . . . wow. I should have NEVER started this hobby!
Oh yeah! Best part of the week! Thanks TGV! By the way……grail….incoming soon. As in exit grail!! So stoked
It's a beautiful watch, for sure. And I agree with you that it is the classic design of Glashutte Original.
Like you, I also think it's a bit too large for a dress watch, and here is where you see that Lange have more refined designs. The Lange 1 comes in many sizes, including 38mm.
The one point in this video I don't agree with is that the 'shadow' of their luftwaffe history still hangs over Lange. For me, it doesn't, and that is because Lange is not the same company that produced those watches. They were nationalized and revived in the '90s. And from the privatization of the nationalized glashutte watch companies resulted Glashutte Original. So some might say it is GO over who the shadow of the luftwaffe hangs, and not the modern Lange. Personally, I view both as new companies and prefer to judge them on their current merits, not on business they carried out 80 years ago.
My last point is that as beautiful as the watch is, I don't feel like it has that quality that would make me think I don't need anything else. I don't think it's really an endgame watch, at least not for me. Curious to see your other candidates!
Fantastic review of a real stunner of a watch. GO is on my list the minute they make another watch sub-40mm. One of several of your episodes that had me wishing I'd chosen a different career path many years ago - good grief do I wish I were working somewhere like GO!
This is an excellent brand. I feel their quality is up there with the likes of JLC personally.
Quiet, confident, they let the watches do the talking.
And I agree about their value cf ALS.
I have a seventies panorama date. My favourite watch
I have this piece and I love it. It was a serious consideration for me for a long time and it gets so much wear from me.
Big fan of your work brother! But I feel it will take another decade to finally decide on your grail watch! lol, And we will have all those contents to watch in the next ten years. Happy holidays!
Thanks TGV, I have been a fan from a far of G-O. I love the vintage watches they have (70's style) and I must admit I over looked this one. A really smart watch.
I have the blue dial with blue leather strap. PanoMatic Lunar is definitely a beautiful dress watch. One thing I do agree less writing on dial in different fonts would be a good move. Glashutte Original one of the finest German high horology.🤔
A snippet of Reggae into the soundtrack of a German watch review. That takes some skill - well done.
Fascinating and balanced content as ever TGV. I have a grey dial version under consideration but am
looking at other German Glashutte watchmakers. I do like the in house movement here, compared to other brands reworking the ETA at least in their base offerings - but let's not forget that is what Panerai did - I do love a Panerai! At the other end of the spectrum is the Patek Philippe inline perpetual calendar - logically and aesthetically it really speaks to me but what I cannot fathom is the cost associated with bringing the triple date function inline? How much?! Completely separate to this is the news that Breitling seem to have just bought Universal Geneve… interesting times! Ciao!
I bought a Glashütte Original - what a wonderful piece of art
Definitely gives me A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 vibes at a fraction of the price too ... VERY nice grail.
Great video, TGV. I've had this watch on my radar for a long time. Having owned a Senator Chronograph in the past, I'd like to have another GO in the collection. But I share your thoughts that it's too casual for a dress watch and to fancy for an everyday. I guess I'd classify it as "business casual" but I think there are better options for that at this price point (mines a VC fiftysix). I'd like to see this go more formal with a fully polished case or even a coin-edge case side
Finally, some brand worth making a video about, well done Tgv, well done 👌👌 may I suggest another brand to take a look at, D. Dornbluth & sohn.. hand made watches made in the traditional way....👌👌
Excellent use of Bach Cello Suite 1 in G to really gild the lily when talking about the GO’s baroque-inspired design.
Picked up one of these used late last year. While I do wish it could have been a little thinner, I find myself not really minding the size generally, especially with the shortish lug to lug. I view it as operating in the same space as a Santos De Cartier: While one can press it into service as a dress watch, it's more like an elegant everyday watch. More so on the bracelet, which has the best on-the-fly microadjustment systems I've experienced (my understanding is that IWC uses the same system).
I'll admit that I think the Lange 1 dial is a bit easier to read (the Pano's overlapping seconds dial can get in the way of the hours and minutes), but visually the Pano's layout just looks better to me. Plus being available in steel is a big deal for me, both in terms of price and being able to wear this more often.
Ayyyy TGV uploads, it’s gonna be a good day. The Panomatic Lunar is my grail, since I’ll never be able to afford the Lange I want lol.
You are pure class my friend, thank you!
Best regards,
TGV
Excellent review. I believe this is its 20th anniversary. I would have been curious to learn more about the technical evolution of the watch since its inceptions 8 iterations ago. The brand definitely seems to be ascending.
Excellent video.keep it up sir
“The 5th Element”!!!! Love that movie Tristano!
Wonderful presentation as usual! This brand has been a grail for me for years.
This is definitely one of my grails as well but unfortunately you are right. It's too thick and just too big for the dress watch it should be. They should update this model next year and give it proper dimensions. Else it's absolutely stunning!
I have one and I really like it. For some reason the date change just makes me smile inside.
I’m getting sick of some watch companies that are artificially trying to make their watches more exclusive to obtain by all the ridiculous hurdles. Mentioning no names,😂 I had a Rolex I actually sold because I was sick of people saying “that’s not real or is that fake or even how can you afford that” 🙄 that actually made me cringe wearing it at times.
Would love to own this one day. Nothing but beauty on this one.
wonderfully presented, thank you!
I've just recently discovered Glashutte and am seriously considering this over "just another Rolex"
Another superlatively made video TGV, and on a beautiful watch. Unfortunately I can't afford a GO, but I'm interested to know does their Swatch sibling Union Glashutte also enjoy a similar independence from the parent company? Also, I really like the look of the Limes Pharo Big Date II, as a more affordable watch that looks to have high levels of finishing and build quality for the price point; is there any chance of a review of some of the more affordable end of German watches that aren't Fliegers or Tool watches please?
Beautiful watch AND beautiful chair!!!
Production value on this video slicker than a snake who's just been appointed Professor of slickness at Oxford University. TGV showing them how it's done once again. Very enjoyable, thanks for the informative entertainment & merry Christmas TGV.
Interesting. It is like we have a strange telepathic connection. Last December I bought Panerai. It was 40mm and I got it because I finally found the Panerai I liked. A few days later you get yourself the exact same watch and do a review on it! And less then 2 weeks ago I bought a Panomatic Lunar. And you do it again! This time not the exact same watch though. I got a previous generation rose gold one
Cant wait to hear your takes on the UG revival.
I own a Glashutte Senator from 2001, nice and smaller, descontinued and square. Beautiful and elegant watches
Great vid, thanks
Another great review, TGV. Personally, the size of this model is unfortunately a deal-breaker for me, as a dress watch should always be on the smaller side (at most 38mm, 34-36 even better), and it should definitely slide under your cuff, in my opinion.
Great Review. I love this style of watch. I wish there were more USA brands out there that could produce a quality piece that could compete with Japan, Swiss, and German pieces. I think RGM probably has some models that would be able to compete.
Finally watching the Crown and I keep waiting for the Urban Gentry to save the day
What a lovely video. Excellent stuff as usual. What An exceptional and genuinely interesting piece, sadly too large for me.
