I got hands-on with the 2019 Glashutte Original SeaQ Panorama Date in steel and the new 2020 SeaQ Panorama Date bicolour (two-tone gold). The SeaQ range from GO is a luxury diver, they are like a super-refined Oris Divers SixtyFive (65), or a more elegant, more vintage-inspired rival to the Rolex Submariner, or Rolex SeaDweller. If you are thinking about buying a Rolex Submariner or Rolex SeaDweller, especially if you're buying grey market at a premium, then you should check out this alternative. The value retention won't be the same as with the Rolex, but you will get so much more watch for your money. A technically better watch too.

I said almost the same about this topic on a German watch channel. I couldn't agree more with mindset.
That date change is amazing!
Rolex is the girl you date, but Glashütte is the one you marry.
God damn man, you said perfectly, exactly! Rolex is a toy in comparison to Glashütte. I have 6 Rolex's but when I wear them I'm not excited, but when I wear one of three Glashütte's of mine, for each one of them I feel differently. After 8 years of owning them I can't convince myself to sell them or trade them 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I was diving on here to say the same thing 🤣 Cracking video Adrian.
What a weird one. It’s odd that it’s a diver, to me. It doesn’t look like one as such and I can’t help but think they’d have made it more appealing if they’d gone for an urban daily wearer specs, rather than diver specs. It might have been a touch smaller, thinner and more refined.
Alex S it can’t ! The movement is huge ... they don’t keep the end product in mind but they make a movent and try to make watches around it. That’s exactly what ibm and how Steve Jobs fucked them in the ass
I went back and rewatched that one part probably a dozen times
Different league, indeed. If I’m not mistaken, these are adjusted to 6 positions and come with a hand-written report card of their chronometry. Not to mention that GO have their own dial factory, which also supplies A Lange & Söhne etc. huge fan of the brand.
I was all set to buy a GO Sixty Panorama date and then I watched your amazing video. I now have the Bi-color on my wrist and I couldn't be happier . Thank you.
True masterpieces from one of the finest watchmakers in Germany.
As I wrote ..got my bi clour watch last week. serial # 90. I have a 20 cm wrist or 8 inches....and even for me it felt big ( at first ) as Im used to wearing my Submariner and Daytona. After 1 week Im used to it now. To be honest, its not even close to the sub in quality. The dial is wayyy nicer ( breathtaking ) ...the movmt far superior, the lums are way easier to read at night. I will say though, that I still wear my sub more often as its more of an everyday watch. I would not dive or go to beach with this watch. Maybe if I got the non gold version Id think differently. Its a KILLER watch. But as author says, they are not in the same league. I payed 11,500 USD for it after negotiating from an AD.
These types of videos in which you explore off the beaten path watches are by far some of my favorite. I would never had given these dive watches a second look, now you’ve widened my perspective. Thank you
The two date wheels are what make the size of the numerals possible: You can make the numerals large when you only have ten of them around the circumference. Squeezing in thirty-one numbers requires the tiny numerals that you see on 99% of date watches.
I too remember discovering Glashutte Original with such enthusiasm 10 years or so ago (pre Swatch takeover) and was equally wowed when I got my first senator up and down. The comparison between Rolex, JLC etc. is perfect Adrian, as I regard GO as the German version of JLC. Certainly not in terms of the calibre catalogue (JLC, I think have well over 1200 calibre's to their name) but the quality and attention to detail is right there. Brilliant review and loved the enthusiasm you showed for the brand.
Thanks for watching Roy. And it’s good to hear you had to same appreciation of GO. 👍🏻
I have a current dislike for date windows, except when the Germans do them. They make them a real feature instead of trying to 'sneak' them on the dial. This date window has been executed perfectly for me. Great video.
I took notice of the date window at the beginning of the video, appreciating that GO designed it with independent digits.
Yeah I actually like the big date and placement
Love you for being so open minded and still enthusiastic about different brands and their watches.
Yeah, but what does he wear every day?
Adrian, you nailed it. They AREN’T in the same league.
That Glasutte is AWESOME.
Jeffrey Threat The Germans make the best watches, and their exhibition case backs are sublime, thanks
Rolex builds a tool watch for everyday wear. If you're the type of person that wants to spend money on 21k solid gold rotor weight, on a watch the size of an Omega Planet Ocean, then this is the one for you!
I'd rather my money went to a gold rotor weight than speculative hype. But agree with the sizing issues
@@sidewinderxx The hype isn't really speculative at this point. But I understand people not wanting to pay inflated prices. Not a fan of how Rolex is like that. Fortunately there are options for people that don't want A rolex. I love my sub, but i also love my seamaster. I honestly generally prefer Omega.
@@erikkalifornia5182 People buy Rolex's speculating that they will be worth more in future because they've been hyped up to date. That is the definition of speculative hype.
Seeing submariners going for over $20k USD is speculative hype. If it was about the watch itself, you're comparing it to Vacheron Constantin Overseas and Parmigiani Fleurier Tondagraph which are so far ahead of the Rolex they can't even see it in the rear view mirror
Ask yourself Adrian when was the last time you felt so excited about a Rolex?
I could feel your genuine excitement for that watch. I totally agree with your comments about Rolex. I also own and have owned several Rolex’s but when I realise how common they are and see the type of people wearing them the experience is diluted.
You are correct there are several watch manufactures that put Rolex to shame and the exploring new watches is the best thing about being a watch enthusiast.
Exactly. There are many watch experts who believe that Omega is much more better than Rolex & believe me my friend, I do insist on Omega's accuracy in comparison to Rolex. I think people made Rolex a God which is not. I've had many Rolex's models but I couldn't find that level of difference. All of them are the same, maybe Sky dewller has sth to saybut I believe it's just a brand it's NOT that timepiece which makes you proud
Loving these transitions and the macro shots with the music!
I just bought the black version on the bracelet. I have other luxury watches (including Rolex) but nothing can hold a candle to this one. You can tell the difference from the minute you put it and and look at the dial. Makes my submariner seem like a toy. I highly recommend the bracelet. The engineering and machining are fantastic. Jumpinjackflash said it best. I don't get excited about wearing any other watch but this one is different. Way under rated
Interesting to hear this. I'm considering the Nylon as the black rubber bracelet doesn't seem to look as attractive or as comfortable as an oysterflex from the photos but I fully appreciate that it needs to be worn and seen in person
I bought the steel and gold yesterday on the rubber strap. Supreme comfort, and a beautiful watch
I entered the store and they had the gold and steel version for sale right away! with 20% discount!!! I own rlx sd43 and jc deepsea! there is a reason for a discount and immediate delivery! rolex is 10 classes better in every respect!
@@Never_Stand_Still how much did you pay? in the official store?

Incredible watches. The movement and the finish is on a completely different level. The Submariner or any other Rolex diver doesn't even come close to the quality and value of the GO. Great video Adrian.
Fantastic watch review. I love how you account for your preferences, even if logic doesn't adhere.
One of the best things about this channel is that I get to discover watches I'd normally never have looked at.
This is especially true with the JLC Reverso. I'd never have looked at one but now I'm a fan.
Shortly after release of the blue version, I visited an AD in Montreal. Without even asking, after trying it on, the Representative offered me 30% off and I declined. Regretting that decision lol.
30%? That’s amazing!
wow!
Wow! thats a hefty price drop
30%! I would have taken that and run....
Château d'Ivoire?
I love Glashütte. I have a Senator from 2004. Love the SeaQ. And also love that their new tourbillon doesn't show the actual tourbillon on the front. Thats Glashütte - for ppl that love watchmaking, rather than showing off!
Absolutely love GO. I have a friend who lives near Glashutte and it's La Chaux De-Fonds of Germany. Such great brands and watchmaking talent. If you want a GO then you don't care that you could have a Rolex or that it loses money.
I love these watches. I had the opportunity to try the more basic SeaQ 39mm last year when the hit my AD. The smaller watch just sings on wrist, but IMO it doesn’t have the tech to justify the price in the same way that the Pano Date versions don’t. Glad to see that you liked these watches.
The two tone is beautiful. I love how the crystal distorts the hour numerals. At first I thought it was the actual design, but then saw when you moved the watch around that it is distortion. I think that is amazing. I agree with you about the two tone having a better look to it. It's like the BB 58 (not the new blue one) with the hour markers highlighted in gold. This adds just enough elegance to the watch without making it too flashy. I'd love to try it on in person to see how the size fits me. Maybe I'll make a visit to my local AD to see if they have one in stock yet. Last year I tried on some of the other Glasshutte watches but this one is really great.
Thanks for the video, Adrian. Great journalism as always. I first saw these watches over on Watch Advisor. He went into the factory and followed how they are made. From the content of the video, it's clear that Glashutte are several rungs up the ladder from Rolex. I'm getting more and more into the German watch brands these days. From Nomos to A Lange & Sohn, there's a lot to enjoy.
Amazing watches, amazing video, love the editing, the music, the whole atmosphere, well done, keep them coming please
This is by far the best video on these watches that I have come across. It captures so well how magnificent they are. So much so, that it prompted me to go to nearest AD to try them in person right after watching it. All I can say is: this is the first time in a long time that I left the store so impressed with a watch. Truly incredible timepieces. Thanks Adrian, great work!
So glad I’m not the only one who thinks these are amazing.
I’m waiting to be able to see one in person, looks fantastic!!
I commented on trying on the Bicolor 3 weeks ago and I find myself thinking about it, rethinking about it, and rethinking about it about yet again! This watch has the functionality of the Sub, the refinement a JLC Master Control, and the slight whimsy of a FP Journe.
Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!!!
I fell in love with this watch the day the blue one was released, and was seriously considering selling my submariner to finance its purchase....that still may happen!
Great review. I agree. I was actually on the hunt for a nice Sea Dweller but I came across a great deal on a LNIB, preowned SeaQ Panorama date at a great price.
I have always loved the GO Panorama dates. Now that they have that in a serious dive watch, I'm fully in! The movement is incredible! Power reserve 100 hours?! And so well decorated. Beautiful.
Mine is black on the black rubber with a sensational buckle. I can't wait to get it.
Dude, I just found your channel and I'm super happy I did. You're videos are amazing! Great job!
All your videos are excellent but this one compelled me to say so, thank you for your knowledge, insight and dedication to a topic that I can't find anyone else to talk about!?
I loved this watch from the beginning reminds me of a 62mas homage in case shape!
I know successful CZcams guys always are watching their numbers & demos. Here's some data, analytics can't tell you about.
I opened up my laptop and my 11yo son asked me what I was watching.
As soon as he heard your intro music he said: "Oh you're watching the watch guy? Cool!" Then he came over to watch the video with me.
My 9yo, who could have a Ph.D., in CZcams, has said in the past he likes your "polished production". I asked him what he meant. He said your lighting was very good as was the set. He commented positively on your videos (shared) and your editing. High praise from an expert.
Haha. That made me chuckle. That’s awesome. Thanks. Have a great weekend. 🍻
Adrian, I think you grew up massively in the way you look at brands, watches, the way you think and talk is just impressive compared to your first vids. I always liked your videos but you really stepped up. Congrats.
Damn you. Based on your video I decided to drive 90 miles to the closest Glashutte AD in Northern CA today. To complete my collection I've been on the hunt for a: great but undervalued brand, small production, sporty dress watch, in-house movement, first-class finishing, and a clear case back. Loved the dive watches, but the Glashutte Sixty checked all the boxes for me. Magnificent. How are these watches not 20% to 30% more? Seriously. Video doesn't do them justice. My only complaint (like I have for Grand Seiko) is the straps, but the AD seems more than willing to work with me on that.
My comment? I got the beautiful bicolor SeaQ. You had been so excited and authentic that I went out to see and try it on my wrist. it was love at the first sight.
Oh man! Congrats. I was thinking this morning “what can I sell to buy one!”. There aren’t many watches that I dream about, but the bicolour pano date is one! I love it. Great choice. 👍🏻
Loving this content dude! Keep up the great work. Thank you.
What a wonderful piece of miniature engineering presented with great passion! 👍
This is a phenomenal watch and I just bought the two tone model. I love it!
Beautiful watches! While I generally like blue dials, in this case the grey and gold bi-tone projects more of a presence. Finishing of the case and movement top-notch, and I love the bracelet. I enjoy seeing watch reviews on watches beyond the Rolex/Omega/Tudor trinity.
I got a Glashutte Original Sport Evolution Panorama Date off eBay about a year ago for $5400 CA. It even came with box and papers, which wasn't stated in the listing. It's more utility styled than these ones, but my oh my, every time I look at it I smile. It's just next level quality that you can see and feel. And the movement is a joy to look at through the curved sapphire back crystal. Also rated at 300m. I'm so glad I researched the resale prices on these and got it instead of the submariner I was looking at.
This is a very gorgeous watch in person. I am a big fan of dive watches and this model is one of the most beautiful in this category.
Strikingly attractive watch! Glad to see your thumbnail is healing well.
I agree with you 100% on the choice of the model. It's incredibly well done and with 100 hours of power reserve and 6 position test it's an awesome value.
Stunning watch - amazing. Your comment re the back of the watch and music make me 😂 - class Adrian!
The bracelet is fantastic (mainly the quick adjust).
The movement finishing is amazing.
I love the domed sapphire and the distortion around the edges.
Torn between this and a Fifty Fathoms on an X71 bracelet.
And being part of Swatch, GO has service centers everywhere, unlike some other smaller volume manufacturers.
Just a beautiful watch - thank you for another fantastic review Adrian 😊👍
I own the two tone SeaQ Panorama Date, and absolutely love it!
One thing I don't think you mentioned is the precision of timing of the change of the date! The watch changes the date at between two minutes of, and exactly at midnight, and it changes which a snap! None of this slowly moving date that takes ten minutes to complete... at midnight, or just before, if you're awake and paying attention, you'll catch the numerals snapping to their correct position!
The winding of the watch is firm and secure, the hands have no wobble when setting the time, everything about this watch just feels precise and secure!
Truely an outstanding watch!
Thanks for the excellent review (I know it was a couple of years ago... )
which version do you own?
Adrian, I was drawling with the open back...it is impressive !!! Thank you the honest review and your comments about Rolex.
I'm a Rolex/Tudor Fanboy. THESE 2 "Alternatives" are IMHO, Levels UP!
Thank you for bringing a Well-Deserved spotlight to these BEAUTIFUL Work-Horses/Tool Watches! 🙌😉
First time I saw it i couldn’t wrap my head around it. Panorama date dir a dive watch and , naaa, just didn’t feel it.
But time past by and I like it more and more.
I still wouldn’t consider it for my collection but do sort of like them. Thanks for the hands on Adrian, as usual fun to watch 🙏🏻👍🏻
As far as 2 tone goes this is probably the nicest one I've seen as it's so subtle & not in your face.
Nice watch ! I’ll remember to get one in case my wrist swells up 2 inches overnight 😁 !
Joke aside, it looks good, although I find the dial busy with these big numbers... but the diameter and thickness are the real show-stopper for me.
Thanks for presenting this model and for the quality of the vid !
As much as I love Rolex , I gotta say I agree with you , these watches play their own league. Awesome video dude , so happy I found you and subscribed.
A big part of the reason many would prefer a Rolex over this is because they want to brag that they have a Rolex. Those who need that ego boost are going to pick the brand that allows them to peacock. Those who care less about image and more about fine watchmaking are more likely to look into Glashütte Original.
Perhaps they just prefer a Rolex.
Hate to say it but if you’re spending 10k plus on a watch, whatever brand, there’s some element of ego in there. In this day and age there isn’t the need to spend that much on a watch even a diver.
After all a seiko diver does the exact same job as a Rolex Submariner. Sure this brand isn’t as well recognised by the average person so you may not have people pointing to it and recognising it like you would with a Rolex but there is equally an element of ego in having a similarly if not more expensive watch like the one in this video and having nobody recognise it (a sort of OMG they have no idea how much this watch cost). It’s almost a weird paradox because the reason for buying an expensive watch is to preen to some degree or as an ego boost whatever anyone says no matter if it’s a Rolex, a Panerai, an Omega or whatever.
The thing about a Rolex is, yes they are popular. Yes they retain value because they are popular and well recognised. But what most seem to have forgotten is the reason they are popular....a Rolex, be it a Sub, a sea dweller (my personal favourite particularly the 16600 or the 4000- anything but the 43/44mm deepsea types which are just ridiculously chunky) an Explorer is that they are classic pieces of design. Like an angle poise lamp or a chesterfield sofa.
Yes Rolexes are widely bought (relatively speaking) but there’s a reason for it. And just because a product is “mass produced” doesn’t mean it’s a bad design often quite the opposite. But Equally just because a product is made in small number doesn’t mean it’s a good piece of design. There are exceptions in both cases but unfortunately this watch isn’t one of them.
@@arghjayem well, if it's about price-quality, I would prefer a Tissot Seastar over a Seiko: Swiss made, own (with silicium) movement 80hrs, ceramic bezel, Saphire cristal and 30 ATM. It cost 10 times less than a Rolex Submariner. But you are right 👍🏻
Way off - most people wear Rolex because they don’t lose too much value on the resell market. You can essentially wear a Rolex for free if you take care of it.
Love this model, have always thought it looked great. Big fan of the date window, like the fact it's not just a simple date at 3. Although I think I'm in the minority of people who get annoyed at no date watches and couldn't care less about dial symmetry or balance
I hear ya… I actually am in minority and don’t get why more don’t have day/date ….. after all, it’s a tool first and foremost!
6”3/4 wrist. Bought this exact watch. Couldn’t be happier.
Glashutte is awesome... I love the 60’s and 70’s too.
These watches are absolutely amazing!! Great review and thanks for your honest candor when comparing your favored brand of Rolex to them, agreed they are in different leagues. I'd be interested in your opinion on Swiss vs German manufacturing etc maybe as a future video/blog post.
It took me five videos but I finally figured your voice out...you have the whole Cary Grant vibe going.
Regardless of our personal preferences... we can NEVER stop learning and exploring other things out there....
Great Video Adrian! 👍🏻😎💨
Everyone bleating on about losing money on the Glashutte clearly can't afford the Rolex they're going to have to sell eventually.
Truth bomb!
Haha truer now than ever.
I own the Glashutte Original Sea Q Panorama Date in blue on bracelet and it absolutely is a few steps above my Rolex 116610LN Submariner. The 100 hours power reserve and finishing are noticeable upgrades and the case back allowing me to see the movement is icing on the cake. Discounts are available so don't pay Retail and unlike most Rolex dealers you won't get jerked around, lied to or treated like garbage.
I bought the blue one on a bracelet , have to make myself wear my seadweller now
Great review Adrian. The timepiece ozzes quality.

Thanks so much Mark. I really appreciate you saying that. 👍🏻
I have a PanoLuner dress watch and the movement is to die for! Strong finishing!!
I like the gray dial. I also like the date window. It's unique and balances the "8" in terms of symmetry.
Nice video and superb watches. It's on my list now and I do like the date window.
Never even glanced at this brand but I love how they’re not just doing vintage-inspired but something genuinely new. Something about a sapphire caseback on a dive watch (and a proper dive watch at that) throws me off, but that’s just me I guess.
After wearing a steel Daytona for over 15 years and then change to a GO Senator Chronograph Flyback Panorama Date in steel with that white dial 1-37-01-05-02-36 I never regret selling that Daytona. That GO is just a better watch over all imo
Amazing watches, I like more the blue one and as you said they are in a different league than Rolex. Very nice video, keep the good work my friend!
Great video Adrian lovely pieces man, impressed
Great content !! It would have been nice to see some footage of the case profile/domed crystal vs. just the face. But you’re killin it keep it up !
I somehow fell in love with this brand obtained the blue 39.5mm and the bluish sunburst squarish 70s panorama date as well two beauties that surpass anything else I ever wore
Bravo! Well said, Adrian. I also love Rolex and, as remarkable as they may be, that does not mean that they necessarily supersede everything else.
I totally agree I really like that two-tone version you pointed out
Bought the blue on bracelet about 6 weeks ago. Super quality! Mailed my warranty card to Germany and I received an email thanking me for my purchase and welcoming me to the Glashutte family. Rolex never did that.
Got my 2tone last week and I am so happy with it. For me it's the ultimate beauty. Watched this video so many times before I got it to ease my waiting time and now I still watch it because I enjoy it so much. I Dig your cool style of video-making and talking/presenting. Go on Adrian!
Congrats Max. I keep watching it too, I'm very tempted to finally get one.
@@BarkandJack - I got mine now a month ago two tone as well, with the textile strap, but thinking about additional straps - just not sure how to find them. Your video was a huge help in deciding for the Sea Q!

Very beautiful watch, specially gold tone one. Most georgious watch. Thank you very much.
Couldn't agree more about the polished center links. It's like when I bought my Jeep and it had chrome rims. Immediately replaced them... immediately
Thank you for posting this video! After watching it, my ADD self went into deep research and came back out of the water with the sole intent of buying the GO Panorama Date in 43.2. I've long been an Omega guy and was thinking about the Submariner. Thanks for helping me avert buying a lesser quality watch that costs more money. The GO Panorama Date simply rocks... even on a 7.25" wrist.
GO is an amazing brand and only if the 43mm was 41 or below, it would make it more approachable. Great video.
Well done Adrian. Such a great watch. Great video
You've introduced me to a new watch as well! Cheers
Purchased the Glashütte original senator observer a few weeks ago, absolutely beautiful watch. Plus with watches like Glashütte you can work and get a discount.
I'll also give a shout out to Nomos Glashütte, another beautiful watch for the money!
Hey, I was on the fence about buying the Sea q panorama. I now have the watch, the blue variant on the canvas strap. Its just wonderful and comfortable and I have not taken it off since I got it. Its a fabulous everyday watch, easy to read and the date is fab. What has amazed me is how comfortable it is on the wrist. I have a 7 inch wrist and this feels great. I still love Rolex but this is a step up. It has been plus 1 second every 48 hours for the last 4 weeks. Wow! I now forget im on my way wearing it and it atracts no negative attention. Thanks for the review Adrian, it made my mind up.
It’s very very accurate… I have compared it to me GMT Master BLNR and it’s juts outstanding how the Glashütte SeaQ is so accurate
Be careful thinking it attracts no negative attention. My black dial recently got me marked. I took appropriate actions before bad stuff happened. Be aware of your surroundings when wearing these fine timepieces.
Superb timepieces,thanks❤️🏴👍
Great vid Adrian, i'd love to see a green sunburst dial, that would be awesome. Also i wonder if the clasp was outsourced from IWC as it looks identical internally and externally to the Mark 18.
Thanks for making this review Adrian! ...I really like this watch! ...I think it's a very capable contender to Rolex. And one of the other great diver choices out there beside Rolex.
Amazing watch and brand. Worth making the review. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I had the two tone on my wrist. INCREDIBLY beautiful watch. Had an INSTANT crush on it. Such a shame that the 43,2mm is simply too big for my wrist. Would have spent the 16.600 Euro for it without a second thought. Actually I was quite sad, that I could not spend the money ... INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL watch 😍
And I'm a BIG Rolex fanboy myself.
Dream of the two-tone in 39mm and with a steel bracelet (at best with brush and no PCL)... Waiting for that one!
Thank you for the Rolex bit at the end. Far too many people just hold them up as the greatest and the best watches ever, when in reality they are good looking well built watches with a crap load of marketing and branding. The two tone is the better looking one, but I can't get over the date window at 4. Though it's mechanism if freaking awesome.
Excellent content again Adrian, I’d never heard of them till now. Looking at their history and heritage they’re a true watchmaking company like you said. Personally I think is a fantastic watch but the brand font puts me off. There you go that’s my 5 peneth worth for what it’s worth.
Keep up the great work mate, always enjoy your knowledge of a good watch.
That instantaneous twin disc date window is amazing. The people who don't like it must have a think about what they really actually like abOut watches because this is one of those watch making pinnacle things. Maybe what you really like is just a brand name or some ad placement and watch makiNg is just a side note
You seem conflicted Adrian, I know you are a big fan of Rolex, but you it looks like you feel pained to find out that there are other brands that make better watches (like the examples in this video) but at the same time you're impressed - Great video 👍
