It would be really awesome if Bulova made a Lunar pilot with a mechanical hand wind movement. It seems some don't know. That the original LP was not a quartz and I love Quartz but it just seems like a great opportunity for Bulova to really make it like the original that had a Valjoux manual wind movement. Excellent video brotha
GENIUS ides. I love that, fingers crossed. 🤞🤞🤞 I guess it depends if Citizen/Miyota can create a good chrono caliber. I don't think they even have one that is not quartz, I might be wrong. They will have to go out of group/house, which I don't think the brand will do. Maybe the smoothie sweep of the precisionist is a better compromise, plus it kinda makes sense Accutron-tuning-folk-history wise. Great point, thank you for sharing that.
Best regards,
TGV
Seems like a regression to make a chronograph with inferior technology for the sake of an insanely high markup.
Excellent point, I guess that is why they all wear Casios and not Speedies now. That is true about the inferior tech and high price,, but I heard from the chaps at Fortis, in space their mechanical watches (due to some crazy physics) function better, especially automatics. I kinda like the idea of a mechanical backup that does not rely on a battery or solar.
I think the Worn & Wound website did do some research on the original mechanical Lunar Pilot. The original movement did in fact come from Switzerland, from Universal Geneve (which was owned by Bulova at the time), and they also came up with the flat lever pusher design. As for a modern mechanical movement for the LP, I don’t think that would match with their plans to market the LP as a low-budget alternative to the Speedy; the Precisionist movement gives the LP a stronger selling point.
@@theurbangentry Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it, but the reality is that Bulova would be forced to use a Citizen Group movement, and considering the high markup it inevitably would have, it wouldn't impress the snobs it's targeting and risks being a commercial flop.
T! You have no idea how much that meant to me. It's an honour to be featured in one of your videos. Considering that you've pretty much inspired my whole collection journey from the very start, that was a very wholesome moment. So I thank you for the various mentions, and your kind words. You're the man, the GOAT. And of course, great suggestions as always. Although my partner really liked your Seiko Dolce so you might of cost me a new gift 😂
Thank you Kieron, the pleasure and honor is all mine. Keep up the great work and positivity, you do an amazing job, you really do. Regarding the Dolce, if you are interested I still have it. I would be happy to sell it to you and you can surprise her. 😉 Anyways, email me if you are interested. Thanks again my friend.
Best regards
T.
Loved this topic and your presentation! Absolutely brilliant! All of the watches highlighted have so much going on with them giving the owners decades of pure enjoyment. So many treasures packed into a single video! Very well done 🥃
Price has very little to do with enjoyment in my experience ❤
Correct!
Bingo
Usually I’d agree, but I notice I’ve been getting the most satisfaction from my most expensive watch. The fine case finish, the more precise movement, the dial that mesmerizes, the remarkable attention to detail. Don’t get me wrong, I love my G shock, khaki field, sarb033, SKX, Sinn and Nomos, but it’s my SMP300 that I enjoy the most. Go figure.
Me too. I have $60 watches in my watchbox and I have $10,000 watches in the same box right next to them! 👍
A hunnid....or 💯 as they say nowadays
Why oh why is Bulova not mining their outstanding and historic back catalogue for re-releases??? Some of their vintage military watches are sublime!
Well, they are though? The Milships, the Accutron (sister brand) Astronaut GMT, the Lunar Pilot itself, the Jet Star they just released, etc, etc.
Some watches don't need remaking...they're too nostalgic to wear right now, as they'll never be appreciated by the current generation of wearers. It's like asking, "Why don't they make more pocket watches?"
@@TheTillmanSneakerReviewexcept pocket watches are still made and people do still appreciate them.
They're making way too much money from their garbage quartz fashion watches
I just bought a beautiful Seiko chronograph with a panda dial, and I love it. I’ll never be able to afford a Daytona, but this Seiko is so impressive I won’t think about it as a negative at all. Quality is available at all price ranges…great video TUG~
I've said it before, "watch collecting isn't a one way street." If you don't look over your shoulder these days you are missing out on some great watches that are good quality, won't break the bank (or your heart if you damage or lose them) and more importantly are really fun to wear. Great vid.
Love the choices and pleased to have several of them in my collection. Thanks for always keeping it classy TGV!
Hi TGV
Still keeping on presenting great watches that are not especially expensive. I really love that attitude about your channel.😊
Keep up the good work👍
Another exceedingly enjoyable installment! The golden age returns - although truth be told I love all of the creativity on this channel. It was a bit curious that Long Island Watch dropped the Bulova today, but it is a fine piece nonetheless. And hey - I happen to love Squale and it was one of the first brands that I ever encountered on this channel! Proud to be original Gentry (I wish you'd say keep it gentry, onwards and upwards again), and thank you TGV!
The “They live” analogy was simply BRILLIANT!
Another insightful video.
Perfectly executed, Tristano!
And one of the best B movies.
Fantastic video TGV. Loving the watches and as always your production value is next level!
Quality upload and production again Tristano. Grazie mille! O&U
I’ve got Casio, seiko, Dan Henry, and Phobios, as well as Omega, Panerai, Tudor, Rolex, Zenith, Daniel Roth, and my Bi-retro Gerald Genta that I showed the “Urban Gentry” at the Moyer Event several months ago. I am enjoying all these regardless of price.
What a well spoken, entertaining and thoughtful presentation. I see you have a real passion for watches. Not only for a watch itself, but it’s history. I watch other videos on watches. Some are good as well and others not so well. You have a personal style not like others that really bring a gentleman’s perspective to watch collecting. At 59 I’m new to watch collecting. Right now it’s like being a kid in a candy store. I have started with a few affordable basic classics. And a couple $300 price watches. Now ready to move up in scale. Videos like this one really help me to select next level. Thanks for your help. All the best. Jim from Georgia
Good picks. I remember you bringing my attention to the Citizen "lefty" automatic diver when it and the SKX were contemporaries. Now both are history (both Citizen and Seiko have introduced alternatives) but while the SKX in NOS condition is often at crazy money the Citizen can still be found new around $200. It's a very affordable under $1000 watch but the fact that it was used by the Marina Militare as their official dive watch gives it a credibility no watch snob can deny. I have several that will never leave my collection
TGV, from when i first started watching you (back in the flighty review days...about 10 years ago?) ive been through several relationships, several failures ,and several milestones. But one thing has remained unchanged. Youve always stayed true to your roots. You are the epitome of a true watch lover my friend. Don't ever change!
An amazing list and range of watches. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all.
The stuff on the thumbnail always looks great;)! Thanks lots for the great content as always, Sir TGV, and have a great week ahead!
TGV, I always appreciate your immense watch knowledge and that you share it with such a degree of attention to detail. Cheers my friend.
🙏🙏🙏 You honor my friend. Thank you so much.
Here's to you 🥂😎
Best regards,
TGV
I can honestly say I have NEVER watched one of your video that I didn't find it entertaining, educational and pure awesome...!!! THANK YOU for doing what you do (so well). Cheers!
You made my day, thank you!
Onwards and upwards my friend,
Best regards,
TGV
Great video, a nice change, some good choices, and it's good to see you have other thoughts on other watches...👍👍
I specifically asked Junghans what the original was and I was surprised they still made them! Gotta love the proportions and harmony of the design on the original 34mm manual Max Bill. Glad to see it mentioned here.
These videos are fantastic - great work as per usual.
Beautifully made as always. These are such useful videos for getting ideas. My watch fun is to get nice pieces for under 500 Euros. So Dan Henrys, Seikos, Orients, Casios are always of interest.
I'm happy to see more of you on CZcams lately. I love your Noe' movie poster. Enter the Void is his best one I think. I just bought a matching bracelet for my Sinn 144 chronograph, and I'm loving it.
Great video Tristano! Thank you.
Very good, love all of this. Cheers!
Excellent TGV! Your editing skills are among the best on CZcams.
YES!!! The ARNIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great show T! Watch snobs are around every show corner!!! Watch out! And wear what the heck you like!;)
Once again, the opening video editing is stellar! Well done TGV! The Laco coverage makes my heart sing.
Pure class as always. Big fan. Thank you from Winchester, England.
Nice variety of watches, I learned from you. Subscribed !
Stumbled upon your channel again, incredible how your production value increases with every year. 🐐🐐🐐
This Video ist just simply incredible good. Love it❤❤❤
Once again, a thoughtful, sweeping overview of great watches under four figures that I have a hard time quibbling with. Big shout to TTT for your inspiration (and hopecl he takes you up on that Dolce).
Informative and interesting as always, thanks TGV. btw what is the jazzy background music.... awesome, and lastly, as a suggestion - your opinion on Vostok watches, some interesting history behind these as well.....
Great list! I have that same red Bulova Jetstar and its fantastic, both in styling and its amazing accuracy! Onward and upward!
Another superb introduction 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love this content lad
Bringing watch collecting to us mere mortals.
Great picks TGV!
Excellent video as usual. I’m thinking of picking up the NG Depthmaster thanks TGV!
Bravo bravo. By far the best watch channel on youtube. Been watching you for years.
Still the best watch channel ever! TGV always deliver the best quality watch content! Pure class!
Always a fun vid, this one particularly fun with some suds,,,..er a draft? I mean a um lager! Cheers TGV!!!🎉
You should not drink and bake!!!!!!!!😂😅😂😅
“Really 007!” 😂 Great list on a good topic. I would nominate the Citizen Promaster which I think garners respect among our more brand obsessed colleagues, at least in my experience. I hope you are well TGV and thank you for being a voice of reason and inspiration on my most recent acquisition. Best-David
Great video! Thank you for all the information. Question, where did you get the large wrist watch wall art piece?
nice/very fast moving & entertaining , good job tgv
Top video as always a TGV 👏🏻 May I ask where you get your film posters from? Thanks! 🦖
It would be great to see a video about the Casio Oceanus line. They are extremely well finished thin slim analog everyday watches with all the G-Shock tech in the $300-$1500 range. The perfect choice if you need a business-appropriate watch with all the G-Shock ruggedness. They’re Japan only so you’ll need to import them unfortunately.
Refreshing watch content as usual
Thank you for introducing me to the Bulova latest products. 👍🏻
New Urban Gentry Video, I do not hate Monday's anymore.
I will definitely be getting the Casio DW-290, before the end of the year.
What is the song that starts at 1:57 ? I cannot identify it for the life of me!
Lovely video by the way. Absolutely love the diverse takes that appreciate a brands heritage, approach, and direction in the horological world we find ourselves in.
Always enjoy and appreciate your work.. Love the photo of grandfather!
Francesco Bruno in Colorado
Impressive vid!
The sea quartz by momentum aka magnum pi re-issue and the chronoking Paul Newman by Nivada grenchen. I don’t know about you guys but I’m just loving these watches more and more please this is the watches that brings smiles. And as always still my favourite watch guy bar none keep up the good work I love your vids
Sea Quartz has authenticity while maintaining a reasonable price.
Love the nod to the movie They Live! Great job as always
Fantastic collection and recommendations TGV! I have the Lunar Pilot. Will look at the Nivada soon. Have a Yema Classic 017 with its in-house auto movement that almost identical to the Junghans.
Awesome take on They Live 😁 👍
Stopped at 0:30 simply to hail your reference to They Live. Couldn't love your channel more at this point - thank you
TGV again a great video thx , when will the rest off your Italian trip be on you tube.
As always another great video. I feel your list was spot on. I don't follow the current trends when it comes to watch size, if you like it, wear it. With that said, yes the "Arnie" is too big for me ;)
Hey TGV, great episode, as always. Question…what strap did you have paired with the Nivada Chronomaster? I’ve not seen that combo, but really liked the way that the color/texture played against the watch head. Thanks so much for being a voice of truth amidst so much blah blah blah. Please keep it up. Mil Grazie
Thank you so much, the strap was from Holbens, I think it was this one:

P.s. this video might help:

You are so right about a G Shock, every home needs one. Clearly the square steels the limelight, whether that be the bas 5600, or slightly pricier abd updated 5610. But ultimately there's nothing the base 5600 misses from the 5610, ultimately they both do the same thing, tell the time. However I'll argue you need 3 g-shocks- a Casioak- they wear really nicely, have a 5610, it does everything and has tough solar, but have something special- a 5000u, and put a combi bracelet on it for a premium wearing experience. Those 3 and your g-shock collection is complete.
Glycine Airman has to fit in this category as well. Good video, always enjoy
T, Great stuff as always. Best. Matthew
I think the Zodiac Seawolf deserves a review, due to it‘s tremendous history.
awesome video as always. ❤please review the tissot t touch ii or the sturmanskie 3133
Love the "They Live" reference, one of my favorite genre movies ever. Good topic, snobs will be snobs no matter what they collect: watches, cars, fragrance, stereo equipment, cameras, etc. Plenty of elitism to go around. "Used" or "pre-owned"? You decide. Thanks TGV, always fun content.
That’s so cool referencing “They Live!”!!
Great piece, as always. Your dad picture at 10:09 was taken in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. Such a small world we live in. Greetings from the land on the sunny side of the Alps.
Sieko and Laco are on my short list of watches to buy. I have a Bulova Precisionist as my go to watch. Thanks for this!
Wooo! Even though u have been critical on Tudor BB Chrono and Panarai u brought me to these warches.
You’re a genius man. Hilarious clips at the beginning.
One day you should mention the Oceanus lineup in these videos. They really are amazing.
Bulova has been on my list for a while now they make a lot of watches that the designs just hit for me. Love the old school design cues.
That Bulova Red Star in deep burgundy is the bomb (the good bomb!). I have such an aversion for quartz but I think it's mainly the single tick per second that turns me off - but that smooth sweep, high accuracy, and 39mm case size has my head turned.
Thanks for this video another banger as always many of these watches are in my collection and one I am going to buy shortly I agree with all the picks plus there are plenty more “snob” proof watches ( almost any vintage watch is a guarantee for less than 100$)
Dude...I'm not gonna lie....great freakin video! I have never heard (writing his while I'm watching it) of Nivada Grenchen. ..and i dig it!! I went to their website and looked through the collection and I've got to be real...I've never seen better looking watches across the board. I'm for sure on the hunt! Great vid! New fan here!
I love your tribute to the Carpenter movie, They Live, very very cool. Great video as always
Really like the references to that 1980's classic movie in the beginning of the video.. the intro music with image's "Just class" bro.. thanks 🎉
Loved the video…I have two of the for mentioned watches..being Canadian I have a Marathon Navigator purchased from Mark at Long Island Watch and the Bulova Lunar Pilot which is very accurate and every bit as nice as the Omega SpeedMaster which I used to own. Thanks from a long time Nova Scotia Subscriber. Cheers MikeR. ( P.S. I 'm also a big fan of Casio G Shock Squares, one of which is on my wrist as I write this..lol! )
Awesome topic TGV... My rule is nothing over $1K. So many wonderful watches within this price point!
The jet star just spoke to me as soon as u showed it. Omg that’s stunning
Wonderful topic , TGV!
Citizen divers! Nearly any of them are excellent. Well. That goes for nearly any Citizen. I am a Citizen > Seiko guy though. Also the Steinhart Triton has the 1000m spec and helium scape valve. All original design and below a grand. The Lunar Pilot is excellent; hands down inarguably a snob repulser. I know it is having a hey day but the CasiOak has become my favorite G-shock. It just works! The buttons are easy to manipulate, it is incredibly rugged. It is analog/digital. It is truly fantastic. Best Gshock to me at the moment. Certina DS chronograph and divers are simply wonderful. Some may not be fans of the Powermatic, but I love mine. I really like the idea of Laco. Need to add one of those to the collection!
Excellent job, TGV. Thank you, as always! Also, might wanna include Orient. They are becoming forgotten again.
Keep doing what you do. Learn something every single show. Onward and upward, my friend. Be well.
Excellent video sir, always loved the “THEY LIVE” reference 👏 A wee bit above the £1000 budget but how about Doxa being a snob proof brand ?
Watches to me are Art pieces... 🥃🥃🥃 Always admiring the artistry.. Thanx TGV
You blow my mind with every video. The quality, edit, effects, props. Tmg i want to buy you a pint and pizza.
Lee north wales
Great content!
George Nada would be impressed with that intro… great great intro 😄♥️👍
Hi TGV, thanks for your always interesting videos. Been a fan, for a number of years now. Hoping you may be able to help with some advice on how to get a Seiko Bell Matic 4006-6011 serviced in Melbourne Aus or anywhere reputable you would recommend? Am originally from the UK, but now live in Melb. Have visited official Seiko dealers, but they will not service my watch. It's originally my Dad's from the late 60s, I believe, so has much sentimental value. Any help would be much appreciated 🙂 Keep up the good work!
Video bellissimo come al solito ❤
Thank you so much TGV for providing such great insights on watch brands that have no snobbery! Another brand that I love that is so understated and in my mind could be snob proof is Timex. I personally own a manual wind Timex in 38mm beat blasted case (Hamilton Khaki Field inspired) with sapphire crystal. It is a great quality watch that is very affordable!
Thank you so much TGV for such a wonderful and educational video!
Stay healthy and well as always!
(Nick L) ❤❤❤🦖🦖🦖🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧⏱️⏱️⏱️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🥂🥂🥂
Im in love with bulova lunar
They Live! Worth subscribing after seeing that intro. Was a cool movie and still good these days.
I love my Bulova LP, BUT, as mentioned elsewhere already, a mechanical version does intrigue me (regardless of price). Anyway as always, great episode, i love the choices you shared, but would be remiss if i didn't also mention that there are great options from citizen also, i own 2 Chronos (a red arrows and blue angels)
Great video my friend! I already have one of the original Bulova Moon watches but I really like the white dial. I don't remember if my watch is 45 or 43mm. I'll have to whip out the dear old micrometer! Cheers!
Awesome movie posters! Especially enter the void ❤
I particularly love your love for Bulova
