Those tight trails on that fast ass race bike is a challenge, you'll have more fun on more open terrain, best case a paddle tire on dunes.

Had to find my limits somehow. Terrified of dunes after my buddy got was paralyzed coming over a hill. Now they require flags thank god. Ride safe BRO 🫡

I just did the same thing and tried dirt bike after 20 years of street riding. Then decided a few lessons were in order lol. It’s sure a different beast!

Now that you have that mastered, time to try some single track on a fat pig of a dual sport like the XR650L. Standing up on the pegs, and keeping close to the tank and pinching it will control the bike better. If the bars feel too low in that position, get some high rise bars and or risers. This will help a lot climbing hills. Shift your weight from one foot or the other on the pegs to help control the direction of the bike also. Also, don't have commitment issues when it comes to ruts. I've found it personally best for me to put myself in one from the get go than to try and avoid it, only to be sucked in. Being a sport bike rider also, it is a weird feeling to go from my zx10r to a bike with a sand tire knobby on the front. When I corner on the way to the trails, I can feel the individual knobs flex. Keep having fun and learning what works in the dirt!!! Btw, there is nothing slicker on earth than a moss covered slate bottomed creek.

@@BMWBRO I think that's loma prieta trail (the left side). It's a blue trail. That section of dirt is quite loose, and a bit steep so people often get stuck there if they have a low power bike or no momentum or tire with no traction. Once you pass that spot, it's pretty easy. I have slid out there on my heavy dual sport bike and had to go down the hill and restart from the bottom.

Seemed more difficult than all the other trails out there. I almost didn’t stop for them because its dangerous but didn’t want to plow through either. Ride safe BRO 🫡

Stand up more put chin in front of bar pad it helps but regardless that terrain will be challenging on a track bike

@@BMWBRO Lostonabike is right. In fact you should been standing on the entire trail (at least the part you showed in your video) balls of feet on pegs, toes slightly turned in towards gas tank. And yes attack position with chin over front bar much of time.
There are times you will slide hips and weight back for rear wheel traction. All depends on terrain, obstacles level off camber, hill and so on. Use your body through your thighs drive into the pegs to keep traction. Elbows out and body square. Practice balance on pegs, get on off with both feet on peg (not with one foot on ground). Practice these on flat ground at slow as possible speeds. Once you are doing without thinking and have retrained your muscle memory.
Go ride the trail again and post video after. PS if no time for lessons, watch online tutorials. There are plenty and most excellent. Cheers!
