Abdrazakov is the best Figaro ever! And his partner has such a sweet voice 😍

This recording has brought me so much joy, I saw it many times, mainly for Peter Mattei, but found the whole staging and cast are amazing, it is this one in a million event where everything was right.

First thing first: amazing production of Richard Eyre. Second: perfect conductor, Levine! Third: love Cherubino! Fourth, Susana was great, but Marcellina was something out of this world. Such grace and humour! Figaro is perfect, not outstanding, but perfect for the role. All in all, a glorious spectacle! I forgot: this Basilio was impressive and reminded me of Truman Capote. He really fills his role, too narrow for him!

What more could you ask for? Two fabulous voices and monstrously great staging. I watch, enjoy, and wonder, how do they do it?

Bravo & brava. Kudos to the orchestra @ 0:58, 1:40, 1:53, etc.; there's always something new to hear in this brilliant, happy, opening duet.

The staging. After Susanna lifts her skirt and straddles Figaro on the floor, Figaro grabs her a**, unbuttons her blouse, then finally pulls her under the covers to fool around. Doing this in the first scene makes nonsense of the story.

Guarda un po', mio caro Figaro,

Abdrazakov is a very overrated singer. As they say: in the country of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

In the country of the deaf, Abdrazakov might be overrated, but in the country of the blind, sorry)
