Me too 😭
Yeah, me too
Lol I really didn’t expect the meaning to be this because they made it look somewhat wholesome
Why is nobody talking about the set design, the costumes and the colours? 🎭
It is indeed extraordinary
Seriously. I thought it was a painting when I clicked. Beautiful!

*Context for Song:*
Alfredo (the male singer) has had a crush from afar on Violetta (the female singer).
Alfredo, along with a whole bunch of guests get invited to Violetta's.
After being persuaded by his friend, Alfredo shares his love for Violetta in poetic words, which makes Violetta's lover angry.
Her lover gets asked to make a toast, but refuses, so the offer goes to Alfredo.
This song is Alfredo's toast, in it however he shares love verses to Violetta.
Violetta is a courtesan so she spends the song half-reciprocating the love, half-mocking Alfredo, because she believes a Courtesan can't truly fall in love.
Violetta however has undiagnosed Terbucolosis, and at the end of the song, she passes out, and the song ends.
She then leaves into another room to get better, when Alfredo enters and the two sing a duet.
Violetta tells him to leave, but after a second thought, she gives Alfredo a rose and tells him to return when the Rose is withered to show if he truly loves her. He obeys and leaves, along with the rest of the guests.
Whilst alone, she sings an aria, doubting herself... could Alfredo truly be the one? She overhears Alfredo, love-stricken, singing outside, and her crush on him develops.
Wow, thanks a lot for writing this out dude, certainly got me interested in watching the whole opera nkw
Thank a lot. I just wonder what happened there.

This whole context reminds me very much of moulin rouge
@@alanashy3514 I haven't heard of it, but I won't be surprised. I searched it up, and apparently it has taken inspiration from multiple places, including La Traviata.

Hahaha yesss
The voices of Diana Damrau and Juan Diego Flórez complement each other perfectly, for me the best performance I've ever heard
no they dont. Luciano may complement her. Juan diegos voice is weak.
Isso é impressionante. ❤🎉🇧🇷
❤
You should listen to the version with Luciano Pavarotti and Dame Joan Sutherland
I came here by myself. Classic education never hurt anyone, people! With all my respect.
This song is loosely translated to ‘let’s all get hammered and have sexy times!’
YEP ! The spirit of this song and this opera is "L'et's drink, drunk and fucks!"
😂😂😂😂
🤣
No you brain dead fuck, it sings about the hard times we Europeans had.
They're self degraded morons dude.
Sometimes, I can't believe how some people are this talented. Like how? Like, why I did not became like them? Like seriously. Please, in next life, give me a talent that I want to study so hard and love so deeply

Samee
you have talent but you are lazy
I can sing like this, but I'm ashamed to sing in front of people
That's because you didn't start practicing around the age of six, I'm not exaggerating, most opera singers start voice lessons before the age of ten
I'm here because this was my grandmother's favorite opera.
I was at this opera. I thought it was so crazy to see that level of talent right in front of you.
Manero eu ja vi uma com a orquestra
Exactly ❤
just stopping by to say that, while the idea behind this translation choice is correct, the original doesn't say "nothing in the world matters except pleasure" but "everything in the world that isn't pleasure is madness" which i like a whole lot better
Amazing.
Yeah, I think the second one sounds better too
Oh yess ❤
Nuccia Focile
La vita è nel tripudio
Quando non s'ami ancora
Nol dite a chi l'ignora

Diana Damrau is my favorite Soprano right now and of the last decade. Flawless. Her performance as queen of the night in the magic flute for the London opera is still one of my favorite performances of all time. Live on Queen, live on.

These costumes are my definition of camp
Then you should see real aristocratic clothes from the period; they make this look like farm clothes.
Jovan Osborne would love you to elaborate. To me, campy means over the top, out of place, elaborate stuff, which in a different setting this might be. I’m also not familiar with opera or the costuming thereof at all, so maybe I’m missing something?
But I really just love knowing how other people define campy, especially when it comes to costuming/fashion!
what can you expect from America, this is not Italy
Totally agree, they look so cheap and the actors here are kinda normal and old!
If you're looking for realism, I wouldn't go to opera!

Unlike Violetta.
Diana Damrau is, in my humble opinion, one of the best living sopranos, maybe one of the very best living opera singers. She and our missed Montserrat Caballé are the best of their kind in the classical music arena.
Omg... .... what??
@@shannonlewis8906 Just giving my opinion 🙂 Who would you consider to be the best nowadays? (I'm genuinely asking without any irony, just wanna know wich personality you would choose as best indeed).
@@davidmendes9900 I’m talking about “the best that ever existed.” Curious.. how old are you? It doesn’t really matter.. The greats are gone and will never be replaced. Look these legends up and soak it in. There are videos of them in their prime and later in life. - Sutherland, Pavarotti, Caruso, Horne, and yes, Caballé. - as far as today’s singers. I have no idea. I can’t listen anymore. I heard a tenor still in college who was really good.. but I’m spoiled. 😊
@@shannonlewis8906 I'm just a lover of music that has heard quite a lot. What I meant was that Montserrat's an Damrau's voices were the most moving and emotional voices I've ever heard. I consider them in my simple opinion (among with other singers of other musical genders, such as Amália Rodrigues and Hebe Camargo) to be some of the best ones that had the opportunity to ever show their art. Maybe I was exaggerated when I mean they are the best that ever stepped in the planet, indeed; I would have to at least hear all the voices in the world to consider so. Also I'm not even a studious of music nor anything related to this. Also it wasn't my intention to say they cannot even be compared to others such as Marylin Horne, Luciano Pavarotti or any of these. They are all incredible too, and indeed, everyone has their best and worse times in life. Caballe surely wasn't in her best when she left, but what really means for me was the incredible performances she gave during her life, and Damrau's interpretations, as I said, bring me the same level of emotion and dedication. Hope you understand my point here ☺️ ☺️
@@shannonlewis8906 Also, you literally mean you can't hear anymore? If so, my sincere respect for you. Honestly wish you the best in your life ☺️

I’m italian and I swear most of the times I have no idea of what they’re saying (but isn’t that what Opera is about?)
A lot of the more popular opera singers are non-native speakers so that is one part another is technique a greater emphasis is being put on power rather and clarity .

Being an American and speaking italian as a second language makes me want to be apart of their culture so baldly. This isn't even italian that I can understand but this is ART that came from a beautiful culture and people. It's magnificent.
Don t worry, Kris, this is ancient Italian, the words of the operas are enigma for most Italians, for the few opera goers, too ! But this is Art , I agree ! Viva Verdi !
obviously very little is understandable by listening, but reading the words, despite the style of a century and a half ago, are perfectly intelligible.( I am Italian).
Ozo Shatranj How nice for you my friend. And we all have to be some nationality. I personally wish I was Romulan and Vulcan. That would be my number one choice. My second choice would be Betasoid & Scottish. Arnold Bourbon Amaral
