    The best aged vessel I have seen on CZcams. Great work!

    I have watched tons of this kind of process but this is the best one with great results! I love how you explained every step of the process! The best was you telling people to wear a mask! I have been doing art, pottery, building furniture for year without a mask and it truly did damage to my lungs! Keep up you beautiful projects the shape of this vase is phenomenal ❤️

    I admire how neat you are. I have watched a lot of people just slap the compound on vertically or in no direction which is not how pottery is made on a wheel. Also the way you paint with a brush horizontally then use sponges and paper towel. I'm not a big DIYer but these things simply make sense to me. Some of the others videos send my OCD into overdrive lol. Beautiful outcome with the flowers👌

    You did an amazing job. It's unbelievable that you started with a glass vase/vessel and ended up with something that looks like an aged clay vessel.

    beautiful job! most DIYs like this suggest using a primer or dry wall tape so the compound adhears better, have you had any issues with it sticking to the glass?

    • @stephyoungren
      @stephyoungren  Před 6 měsíci

      No it’s held up great and it’s been a few years now. I sealed it with paint and a spray so that has kept it in good shape.

    Note if you find a good translucent vase, consider using it as an accent light. Toss some fairy lights inside the vase and you're done. That's not to say I don't admire the result Miss Youngren achieved here. The only thing I'd like to add is that you could review some photos of ancient pottery between your thrifting expeditions. That can help you hunt down a similar shape for a more authentic ancient look.

    Everything looks great. It seems like the wall texture spray -on did not work out. So, did you just smooth it with your fingers? You can use concrete overlay mix or wall spackle to spread around and then add texture. Well done.

    IT is lovely. But you dont use baking Soda ?

    • @stephyoungren
      @stephyoungren  Před rokem

      No this is a different technique than adding baking soda to paint. The joint compound is already thick and provides the texture. The paint is just for color!

  • @Gtumrths
    @Gtumrths Před rokem

    Can you also recommend this joint compound for outdoors? I would appreciate a reply!

    • @stephyoungren
      @stephyoungren  Před rokem

      Joint compound is water soluble and therefore not outdoor safe! It needs to be sealed properly. You could try using weatherproof paints vs craft paint and see if that does the trick. But again, joint compound alone will not withstand weather.

    nice, but by the time you pay for all the material, and the time it takes to do this , you can buy a vase for the same price, that looks the same at Home Sense...just saying

      It's the sense of accomplishment where we're are able to duplicate the same look and finish as the expensive vessels. The products that are purchased are enough to do at least 3 more vases/vessels. It's a diy thing that not everyone appreciates or understands.

    • @irairod5160
      @irairod5160 Před rokem

      I don't agree, Jeff. When one tackles a project of this kind, one can choose the exact size of the piece, the overall shape, the color and its depth, the perfect degree of texture...plus the satisfaction of saying, "I made it", that's simply priceless. In addition, a lot of materials are likely left over and one can make several other such vessels to keep, gift, or even sell. The savings over buying a similar piece at Home Sense are quite significant!
