- Today I'll show you how to turn glass pots into aged, stone-looking vases using baking soda. I tested out a few techniques and they all worked so well.
I achieved that antique wabi-sabi effect and flipped these glass vases into textured pieces.
These vases are super inexpensive, fun, and easy to thrift flip! I made them using baking soda and ingredients you probably have at home, such as coffee and dirt.
You will be amazed at how beautiful these textured vases turned out. They really give that stone effect and make a great wabi-sabi decor.
I cannot believe how this DIY turned out, what a transformation! I turned it into an experiment testing few different techniques to find out how to DIY the perfect FAUX stone VASES! And they all turned out amazing!

🤣 Yes! It's so much fun ☺️
I really loved them them all. I loved the different effects and textures that adding coffee grounds and dirt gave the pieces. ❤❤
So glad you like them 🥰
Total success and so easy to achieve with stuff you already have at home. Thanks very much!!
Thanks! So glad you like it 🥰
Excellent idea and great result with your technique.
All of them are unbelievable 🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
Thank you so much 🥰💕
I like them all! I will be trying this on vases I was going to give to charity. Now they will have a new purpose. I've seen the dirt ones before but the coffee was a new one for me Thank you ❤
So glad you like it 🥰
Ficaria mais bonito se a tinta fosse passada em um único sentido. Ou na horizontal ou na vertical.
Thank you!

Good ideas here ♥️
They look like they were just discovered in a pharohs toomb , so cool!

Wow, these turned out great! I've used baking soda before but will definitely have to try adding dirt/coffee. I love the effect you created. I recently aged my indoor terracotta plant pots that were looking too orange with my neutral décor. I got a small bag of calcium carbonate powder and mixed it with water to a milky consistency, (effectively what lime wash is made of but it's generally sold for reptile care! You can mix up garden lime granules with water to do this too). You don't need much at all. After three rounds of brushing on coats and allowing them to dry in-between, I just gave the pots a quick rub down with a damp cloth to remove any dust. It dried really quick and the lime is also good for the health of the plants inside the terracotta pots. I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you haven't already tried it, just wear gloves and be mindful of breathing in dust particles as you would be with cement/Plaster of Paris - a mask is a good idea. I had no issues using it, and it's very easy to clean up any drips. They look full of character now, are a more muted tone and they fit in a lot better with my décor :-) Have a wonderful rest of your day, thanks for another fab video!
Omg I would love to see how they look 😍 That's such a great idea actually and I want to try it out. Do you think this will also work on walls?
@@HomeByMon ooh, goodness. Not thought about walls. I know you can buy limewash paint specifically for interior walls in different hues. Might be interesting to apply to concrete/cement pots too. Calcium carbonate is effectively what you get when lime wash suspension is applied, the water evaporates and then the lime reacts with carbon dioxide in the air to form calcium carbonate, (thanks Google 😁). So using calcium carbonate is kind of a quick cheat for traditional limewash, (slaked lime or calcium hydroxide). The reaction occuring with proper interior wall limewash paint with pigment added will leave the walls shiny after a few days of reaction to carbon dioxide, apparently. I wouldn't class my pots as having a shiny finish. Lol, that's more science than I've done in years 😁🤣
@@yzolakitchi I have to try it now! ☺️ Thank you so much for sharing so much info 💕
@@HomeByMon My pleasure! I just uploaded a 30 second video of the pots I did. It's the only video on my channel, so it's easy to spot . Hopefully it gives you an idea. That was three coats, of a watery wash. I'm sure adding more layers of calcium carbonate would produce whiter results if desired, you could also mash in some dirt/coffee. I've seen people rub moss along the edges too, which leaves a green weathered look. Lots of options 🤩
@@yzolakitchi Wow!!! They look amazing!! I am definitely trying this out! Thank you so much 🥰💞
Excellent! Thank you, I'm subscribing to ur channel!!!
So happy you like it 🥰
These are beautiful ❤ I made something similar i took an old tall vase and gloves and used left over joint compound and i put it all over my vase it dries fast i went over it a second time for coverage and added some texture and it looks like i paid for this. I was going for neutral vibes in my living room and the vase is perfect i added some faux green plants to top it off. My next one i will try the coffee method.
That's such a great idea with the joint compound! I will try it out for sure ☺️
We me and Molly Brown are gonna be doing the Vases,
gotta lot of um'
Thanks From Austin Texas 78704🌈🐕
I tried the first technique worked, perfectly. I added too much Bicarbonate of soda, over eager I guess. Just added some water still came out great!🎉
So glad you tried it and liked it 🥰
Hey Mon. Awesome. The link for the pigments leads to a guitar repair shop. Your channel is like a day at the beach.
Omg O have to fix it asap 😅 Sorry
@@HomeByMon it's not a problem. I can just use my acrylics. One of the other links leads to an Amazon oops error page. I forget which one. Love your channel
guardando il video stavo per scriverti del caffè macinato invece della terra, quando ho visto il terzo progetto 😅❤ siamo in sintonia 👍🏻
🥰💕
More freckles?
Was that decaf or caffeinated?
We Molly Brown and me Kaye-Lee couldn't tell the difference 😊 Austin Texas 🤠
Nice! How do you think this technique will work with plastic pots?
I've tried it and it works 🥰
Does this need a matte finish coat to preserve the paint?
I think so. Plus the matte finish will make it look more like a ceramic vase.
@@HomeByMon Thankkks ~ aside from acrylic what type of paint can I use
@@presyazz Hmm I think acrylic works best, I haven't really tried anything else 😅
Am I the only one whose OCD kicks into overdrive with the dirt? I couldn't look at my vase the same way with old plant dirt on it. But very interesting. I like the baking soda and find that using a wide sponge brush will yield faster results. Also I sweep in lateral strokes vs. vertical, so it looks like it was made on a pottery wheel. Then for texture use a sponge. But I'm not as patient as you. Nice job.
Yes, the dirt kinda bothers me too if I'm completely honest 😅
@@HomeByMon I like the smell of coffee better too 😉😚
Dommage que les produits ne sont pas traduit en Français.
This is so creative, I definitely want to try all three methods, could you post a note of the pigment Brand and colors please? The link didn’t work. Thanks!
Thank you so mich, I'm so happy you like it 🥰 And thanks for letting me know I will fix the link in just a bit. I live in a small county in Europe, so that's a local brand. I will update the link 💕
wow less than a month old video with bad links
Is someone burping?
