The 1960s were such an incredible time of technological innovation.
Love it! My sis was a UA 'stewardess' based in SFO at this time.
Nice! She may have flown with Dad...he was based and flew out of SFO during his whole career, 1952-88.
@@mcdonnell220 Christine graduated training in 1964 and flew until 1971. She worked in baggage for a while and opened the Anchorage station with a colleague in the early 1980s. She retired as a gate agent in LAS in 2004. She started on the Caravelle.
@@charlesbower8387 Cool! I love reading posts like yours.
Thank you for the great video! Interesting and informative. Keep up the fantastic work that only you can produce!
Very kind thing to say, thanks!
The glory days of flying.
Where passengers were dressed up to the nines rather they are first class or economy, today, you have to keep reminding yourself that you're on an airline, not a greyhound, lol!
The 27 one of the best aircraft!
The year I was born! Great footage.
Excellent. Those were my Wonder Years! Thank you for sharing this with us.
The magnificent Boeing 727-100 were silent and smooth to take off and depending on the pilots landing could be freaky. Everything sounded real, the metal, the heavy weight, the sounds, the meals, the aromatic blend of fuel perfume and smoking onboard, newspaper and coffee. Flying in such a babe beauty made you feel part of the plane in every single stage of the flight.
Thanks for a great video!
thanks for posting this.
Brings back memories of my A&P days with UAL SFOMM .In all probability I worked on this aircraft along with taxi and runup. Our runup area was 19R
The 727-100 series we're fast! Got a chance to fly on one in '89 IAH-MCO with continental. Probably put out to pastor soon after.
Super😍
727💋
That's fantastic!!!
The good old days ...
Wonderful era! Lovely!
best years in aviation
I took that flight about two years earlier (SFO-LAX). Don't know what plane it was, though. Took us 45 minutes, then took almost two hours to get from LAX to Disneyland by bus...
and it still takes 2 hours to get from LAX to Disneyland by bus!
Today it would be almost infeasible to fly such a short route with a jet. Have no problems flying it in a sim though ;)
Rolex watches were affordable back then, especially for pilots. Can't tell if it was a firm, hard or smooth landing though 🤣
Martin R. My dad had a Timex that he got when he was hired by TWA. I think he said it cost like $250 back then.
@@odinsson204 wow, $250 is a lot of money back then for a watch
