    SABATON HISTORY LINKS:
    Sabaton wrote a song about the Battle of Wizna, called 40:1. When the Germans invaded Poland in 1939, they met determined and fierce resistance. Multiple battles show the steadiness of the Polish defenders, in contrast to the common narrative about the Polish defence. One of these Battles is the Battle of Wizna, where a Polish defensive force managed to hold off a much larger German army for several days.

    "Made Sabaton popular in Poland" is an understatement.
    Sabaton has been sited in modern history books in Poland because so much of their history from WW2 has been erased thanks to Communist and Allied propaganda.
    And after getting recognized by the Archbishop, if Sweden doesn't hold on, Poland could easy go "Sabaton is our band now".

    9:52 Funny fact. The invasion of Poland began on September 1, 1939 and ended on October 6, 1939. For 35 days. The Battle of France began on May 10, 1940 and ended on June 25, 1940, giving us 46 days. This means that the "inferior" and deprived of allies' support, the Polish army fights only 11 days shorter than the great French army supported by the British army, which had more than nine months to prepare. ;)

      @mladenkorstic i don't think it's just slavic people it's just that france in ww2 was not ready for a war in any way possible many countries like America Australia new Zealand Britain sweden france etc can fight very well even outnumbered

    • @mladenkorstic
      @mladenkorstic Před 7 měsíci

      @@kingseb2252 i'd bet differently if you look at slavic history and all of the slavic countries history you will often find that being outnumbered and still managing to put up resistance is a reoccurring theme for slavs. And what do you mean France wasn't ready for a war they had allies and they had time to prepare something slavic Poles did not have. While Americans did fight in about 9 battles where they were outnumbered it was no where near 40-1 when i think about it none of the countries you listed were facing those odds and almost always had allies and support

      @@mladenkorstic france literally conquered all of europe mostly alone sweden was attacked by 3 fronts on the great northern war alone australia and new Zealand fought the germans and Japanese in ww2 and were alone till late 1942 in pacific Britain was regularly outnumbered in alot of battles like rorke's drift america won tons of stunning victories in american revolution civil war ww1 and ww2 and others it is not just slavic peoples so don't get rude 🙄

    The battle of Wizna is surrounded by many myths. For example it was not 40:1 "only" 6:1. Germans never attacked their positions with full strength. Still brave, but let's not fool ourselves. Guderian stopped, it is true. But not because of Polish soldiers, but because they were missing parts of the pontoon bridge and could not cross the river. They were simply waiting for the parts. I am surprised that anyone believes that 700 soldiers, even the best, can stop the entire Army Corps of 40000 soldiers and tanks with practically no ammunition. And these "heavy German losses" amounted to 10 killed, several wounded and 10 destroyed vehicles.
