    Awesome video, thanks! Just FYI, from watching a few other similar videos online, that shakiness you were referring to in the footage seems to be a common problem that results from the app or phone's stabilization settings when using an anamorphic lens. For that reason, it's recommended by other film makers to turn off any kind of stabilization to prevent this. Apparently the shakiness (Jello as they call it) is better approached in post, or by just using a gimbal if possible for certain shots. Hope that helps. Just passing that on, as I have no personal experience of it yet lol.

      @victor.melchorfilm  Před rokem +1

      Hey thanks for watching! :) I have seen that as well, that day with the shaky clip, it was incredibly windy and we were at a high altitude, so I think it was a combination of my hands shaking, the stabilization, and the mount being a tad loose haha, but I will have to try turning off stabilization in the app next time I’m out! Thanks for the tip! :)

    Dude! great vid. awesome examples.
    I just ordered my lens. Im watching a bunch of videos and people keep mentioning the need for ND filters. Do you think its necessary with this lens? My hope is to keep bulk to a minimum, so if I'd rather not use it if I can still get great footage without it.
    Does the moment app let you shoot flat footage?
    thanks!

    • @victor.melchorfilm
      @victor.melchorfilm  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey thanks for watching!! So I also have the variable ND but I’ve only used it a few times tbh. If you’re maybe planning on filming a short film and you do wanna get that cinematic motion blur, I’d say get it but if you’re traveling, vlogging, or just want to keep your setup as minimal as possible, I’d say you don’t really need it. Also because the mount is kind of loose on the moment thin case, everytime I’d try to adjust the variable nd, it nearly unmounted the lens so I opted not to use it. I think the best accessory to go with the lens with be a small gimbal tbh, that could help get some fun smooth shots! And yeah you can shoot in a flat and Log profile on the moment app! :) Hope this helps!

      @@Coco-xi9hq I noticed it was totally fine on the regular moment cause but the moment thin case seems like it’ll always be a little loose cause it’s mount is detachable but I love the feel and look of the thin case haha! And yeah of course! 🙌

    that's a great video Vic! i myself am currently on the verge of buying an anamorphic lens, mainly for photos, and was wondering if it's possible to mount the lens not horizontally, but vertically, so that it stretches the height component of the image and not the width. that way (theoretically) you could get perfectly square photos.
    also, i've seen some examples online (in an LTT video) that moment lenses severely decrease the sharpness of the picture, especially in photos.
    could you please confirm or deny this? i live in a country to which moment doesn't actually deliver, and so purchasing one would be a huge commitment for me. thanks in advance!

    • @victor.melchorfilm
      @victor.melchorfilm  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you I’m glad you liked it!! 🙌 So It does come with a little allen key on the pouch and you can actually unscrew and rotate the mount 90 degrees to take vertical pictures and I believe when you desqueeze it’ll be square but what I noticed is that you’ll get a bit of vignetting on the top and bottom of the frame unfortunately :/ and the anamorphic does decrease the sharpness a little bit but it has a nice vintage character to it if you don’t mind that look. So personally not sure if I’d recommend for vertical photos just cause of the vignetting, but if you were planning on shooting horizontal photos or videos it’s definitely a cool lens! Anyway hope that helps let me know if you have any other questions!

    • @victor.melchorfilm
      @victor.melchorfilm  Před rokem +1

      Hello! Most of the time I shoot handheld, and the app’s image stabilization works pretty decent! Sometimes on shaky clips, it can look weird, but looks good 90% of the time :) You don’t have to use the Moment app, but I’d recommend it, just because the app will desqueeze your anamorphic footage for you!
