    I’m a 3rd Year Nursing Student about to graduate in a couple months. One thing I REALLY agree with is that you need support. It’s so damn important. I used to be someone that always deals with everything on my own & never want to burden others. But I’ve learned to come out of that. I’m glad I lived in halls all 3 years with my closest student nursing friends. It was so good cause we all supported each other and would talk about placement, confide and push eachother.
    Everyone will have different experiences. I personally thoroughly enjoyed the process. Placement was tough but I loved the patients and the learning. Most of the staff were nice, some were strict and rude, but such is life. Nursing is something I’ve always wanted to do so I was motivated by my passion. If you’re not passionate, it will be hard. The 5am starts are hell lol, but if you’re used to working, it’ll be fine. Overall, it’s been very trying and tough but so worth it. I’m excited to finish! 😅💕
    LITTLE STORY TIME: I did have one terrible placement, that reduced me to tears but bear in mind, this was my first placement, I was inexperienced and didn’t respond well with criticism at the time. I was so anxious & scared, all I heard was that I would be a bad nurse. But I’ve grown so much into my own and developed a confidence since then. If I had that same placement again, I’d perform much better and I wouldn’t cry about negative feedback. Now, I just take things on the chin (unless I disagree) and always focus on self improvement, what I could do better, how I can provide better care for my patients and be more competent. You do grow over the years in this course.

    So true after Saving Boris Johnson's life Nurses still get nought in return for their hard work! In fact UK nurses had a nice pay freeze for 10 years! So they get paid less than they did 10 years ago! Their money does not go as far as it once did. The UK relies on recruiting Nurses from third world countries for cheap labour. The Nurses who get trained in the UK move overseas for double the pay!

      Third world? Italy, Spain, Filipinos...etc has the best nurses in the world.
      UK hire foreign nurses bcz to teach and train a good nurse cost tons of money and they don’t want to invest that money, so the training they give to nursing students is very basic

    In my second year nursing so close to dropping out because I literally have no motivation. Hate waking up for the shifts and placements in general. Hate assignments exams. Felt forced into it by my parents. The course is so draining emotionally physically etc. Still deciding if I’m dropping out. General feel like it’s not for me

    • @lifeofodun
      @lifeofodun  Před 3 lety +8

      Listen. I know exactly how you feel. At this point in second year, you’re almost at the end. The finish line is literally in your sight and third year will go quicker than you expect. At this point you’ve just gotta put yourself first. Go to the placements, do the assignments but most of all, make sure you make time for things you enjoy and take your mind off it all. You’re almost there and you’ve come this far. I wish you all the best with the rest of your journey ❤️
