DAY IN THE LIFE OF A STUDENT NURSE | NIGHT SHIFT Hey guys, I've been super busy with uni work so this is up a bit late but hope you enjoy my night shift vlog!! x
Loved watching this, i finished my final placement as a student paeds nurse last week and start my job on monday! good luck with the rest of your training!
As a RN for 22 years and shift working nurse of 30 years, I can tell you... it wasn't the caffeine you had, it was NORMAL. It's always the first shift no one sleeps before or after. Night 2 you're tired but not feeling terrible. Night 3 is harder, if you get to do a 4th night, you're in a rhythm... it's harder to come off nights by then that start them
... hi there, my tips for nursing on nights. Nursing for 20 years.. Go home after nights, potter about, electric blanket on. No breakfast, then get into bed and you might get 4 hours. Empty tummy or milky drink. And, nothing like toast or crumpets on the night shift about 5 am in the morning. Good luck 🤞
Hi. Well done! Thks for the vlog. Final year student as well. Did my nights last February. Initially I was anxious and nervous too but thank god it went smoothly. Have finished my last clinical attachment now awaiting final results. Good luck to you ya. Cheers from 🇸🇬. ☺️
Im a nursing student and I was institutionally bullied in gstt hospital and i reported it to my university which BTW is crap and they didn't take my concern up, in fact that placement got referred and they told me to repeat it and my university first said I can take off those completed hours from my total placement hours end of the program and now they are denying me. Im thinking this career isn't for me. I have struggled with sleepless night with my 1yr old and managed to get up at 5am to do my 12hr shifts 4 days a week. Can't believe the injustice. Too much discrimination going on and I can't wait for the justice to take place on judgement day. If by the end of the course they deny me a pin after all my hard work, then I wouldn't care bcoz I'll be on benefit anyways. Only wanted to be a nurse as I have kind heart and I see a lot of abuse happening in hospitals and many people don't deserve to be nurses. All the best ❤
Can you make a video of what’s in my placement shift bag? I’m starting my 1st placement in January and I don’t know what to bring with me. Also I love your placement videos!
I am yet to do any night-sifts as a student, but I will be doing a weeks worth at the end of my current placement! I would also vlog it but I worry I'd just be too tired 🤣
Hi Thanks so much for your informative video, I really like it, But please can you make a video about the first year of nursing in Cardiff as I am going to start this September, like What is it like the first year what are the challenging bits How to do notes everything please Daisy Thanks in advance XX
I even started my period a week early when I was on night shifts last month (which is really unusual for me because it's always on time). I looked it up and apparently it's common in women who do night shifts
@@I-am-the-one-and-only Not surprised at all.Apparently it takes the body 1 week to recover from 1 night shift and settle into the normal function of the body..Imagine when in 1 week we do nights and days at work..Our body clock has no time to recover. Its really unhealthy..our glucose is raised, stress level ,risk of diseases ,depression, cancer etc.😔
I've been trained since 2014, however in 2017 I took work that took me away from direct patient care, well recently decided to return to working in a hospital setting with an agency, I would love suggestions of who on CZcams is good to follow that posts content on all things nursing 😀😊
I'm starting my adult nursing course on the 18th of September and I'm excited for the course in general, but I'm really really scared for placements. Like I'm actually freaking out about my placements. 😱 What if I mess up or what if like, I do something wrong when I'm around a patient? 😭 Just thinking about all of that is freaking me out so much and I'm actually really scared! Like I honestly cannot explain how scared I am. 😭 😭 😭
Please post more nursing videos!! It’s good to see an insight, I start my nursing journey next year 😃
So inspirational to see student nurses, who are front line workers and not even get paid! Respect you so much girl!
I’m a student nurse too and I had my first 3 nights the other day. It was a lot better than I thought !!
The idea of them is always more daunting, and once you’re there you get used it it. Glad it went well!
I love your videos so much!! Thank you for sharing your experiences - I can't wait for more content!
I start in September and placements seems the most daunting thing to me!! These videos are really helpful✨

Hate night shifts..it messes up my system regardless of what I do!
