Honestly my first impression for story in wuthering waves is all about post apocalyptic story. And i dont expect any bright topic. But that truly fail my expectation. And some information is just not add up. And then a lot of new information give to us and make me real confuse.
I play the 1.1 update story. To be honest the animation is god tier, but the story is still lacking. Is feel like they just give us great promis with really bad execution. I even feel really sleepy in the important moment and not really feel bad or sympathy to any character even i know that story must be sad.

Haha, yes. That's what I want to talk about in my next video.
WuWa has a great presentation with cool animations and stuff. The premise is also great, with 1.1 having time travel and having Jinhsi's origin, but the execution is just so lacking.
This is mainly in emotional tone. They didn't even try to invoke any emotions in the players. No sense of anger or sadness, nothing. It's all plot and plot, scene and scene.
And then there's no direct character growth or arc, which makes the story forgettable.

I played Wuthering Waves at release until the Threnodian of War, and I remember when I got to the scene of all the characters coming out to defend the city, and I could not, for the life of me, care about that, I didn't know any of them, I had no connections, no attachments, only characters I cared for where Xinglang, Aalto and Encore, and two of those weren't there, and Xinglang was because I went out of my way to get to know him.

@@ThyFloorestFloor Haha, WuWa is clearly a textbook example of how to NOT write your story. That game is a mess.
Gameplay's great. But whoever wrote for that game sucks. Roasting it will be like picking a low hanging fruit. I just need to find an angle to make it more constructive.

@@FeyHunt Sadly, yes, I don't like Genshin that much, but I have to give them something, I played for the first time back in March of 2021, but left it after a few days because my phone couldn't handle it, and by late 2022, around late December, I got a better phone that could handle it, and when I returned, I could perfectly remember all the characters and what their deal was. But if you were to ask me to name who were the two characters you start with in Wuwa, I could not tell you despite playing it 3 months ago.

@@ThyFloorestFloor I can tell you their names, but aside from Chixia, all of them have the same personality. Stoic and knowledgable characters that only do good things.

I will talk about problems people don't usually talk about "the MC"
First get rid of Amnesiac silent protagonist and you are doing something right. This plot line is (isekai)truck kun of gaccha stories. Most of them never even touch on why or how they got Amnesia.
Second problem is the goal of the story. Like most of them are forgotten soon as the game starts like finding lost siblings, memories etc. Need a goal which is detrimental to current events and why you the player is the solution.
3rd thing characters automatically trusting MC without even showing their worth first or letting MC win them over.
Best example of Amnesiac protagonist done right is "Oracle"(Doctor/Endmistrator) .
Main goal of the story is to find the cure of Oripathy. Very important to current events of main story. The reason you are only who can do is because you are the creator of problems this world faces,( originium ) which resulted in Oripathy and cathostrophe.
But your blood is the only antidote to this infection. Making the doctor very intergal to the plot.
Doctor:" I was awakened as savior but I am destined to be their destroyer " (babel event)
Alot of characters hated MC at first like Kal'tsit, W, Ex babel members but doc slowly win them over.
Amnesiac plot is also intergal to the plot because in the past Doctor wanted to let originium consume terran civilization because he knew terra stands no chance against the threat which destroyed doctor's civilization so at least terrans could survive inside originium. But current doc doesn't know the threat so he choose to save terra this time because of his ignorance. As time goes on his memories are slowly coming back and will help terrans fight that threat from outer space.

Arknights lore is indeed a good example of making an amnesiac protagonist. It's basically a redemption arc, a second chance for the character to do it right.
I get the feeling that Wuthering Waves want to do the same thing, but it's still to be determined if they can pull it off with their current level of writing abilities.
That being said, I still think self-insert is not the great way to do it. They were trying to engage the player with illusions of free will, but sometimes it turns out to be cringe.
Maybe I'll make a video discussing that someday.

I honestly think the ones that criticize the story are pushing their hate agenda on wuwa and kuro, this could be explained as a reaction to all the hype before the release, most ccs that overhyped it said that kuro knows how to write mature stories and that their stories in PGR are better than genshin's, which ended up being one of the big disappointments for this game, the story was just your standard gacha game story nothing as terrible as people like to talk about.

I mean... ofc they will expect something better for an newer product on well known IP. some might want to play the game because how good pgr story is, and when It didn't meet their expectations, they will be disappointed.

I mean, I think part of the problem is being as good as a standard gacha is a really, really low bar to clear.
But when a game feels more like a premium AA or even AAA game on most aspects, and has the production values to match, the low quality writing starts to stand out more. Especially when there is so much of it on the introductory chapter.
There is the fact that the devs rewrote 90% of the story, but bits of the cbt1 story are still available out there. And while I cannot understand Chinese, the introductory chapters seem to introduce more conflict / feel a lot more unique, compared to what we got. Not saying they were necessarily better written, but... It creates this frustration over "what it could have been". And also worry that Kuro might keep making the story blander by trying to appeal to everybody at once, instead of sticking a creative vision.
That said... after the first couple of hours, the story does take a back seat yo the gameplay, wich is genuinely great. Not just by gacha standards - this is actually a good game.
And when the story kicks back in, it's a noticeable improvement over the first half. It shares a lot of the same problems, and the world seems to revolve around the OP amnesiac MC, but... Whenever Scar is on screen things get a lot more interesting, and most of chapter 6 has actually good writing.
So... Yeah. While the first half of the story is crap and leaves a very bad first impression, it does feel weird when some CCs start putting way too much emphasis on it (and the performance issues a lot of players are experience) and very little time on everything the game does great.

Well, I can't speak for all content creators out there. I do notice that some are just hating it, just because. Disingenuous, yes.
However, I think it's important not to label everyone with the same label. Giving criticisms and comparison are natural as people weigh in their decision to play or not to play.
And then there's also the relative aspect on what we call "good". I played Genshin for 2.5 years, and I dropped it mainly because the story didn't get better. I played WuWa for 10 days now, and I love its high skill-ceiling combat. But I can also admit that the music is not for me. I still prefer Genshin's classical orchestra than synthmix.
You will find that most people in the comment section of this video are level headed, and genuinely wants to start a discussion. We criticize the game as a genuine feedback to the dev.
In fact, you'll find my next video will be about criticizing the terrible storytelling of Lingyang's story quest, while also suggesting what could've been done better.
