    For those of you looking to add touch screen to your Ender 3s, make sure to confirm that the touch display is compatible with your motherboard first. Per the linked wiring guide, this requires a BTT or RAMPS based motherboard (the video was based on a BTT SKR Mini e3 V2.0 board). You will not be able to get the touch screen functionality with the stock motherboard.

    Also, that speed issue with the dial, is also still a thing. I WAS GOING NUTS trying to figure out why my prints were slowing down sometimes, and fine others. Hi I recently watched your video on setting up mesh bed leveling on the SKR Mini E3 and thank you for that. I followed along using the Marlin side (I had already installed the TFT35) after doing so I switched back to the touch screen side and it gave me an error that the mesh was invalid. So using the Touch side I dug into it and re-did the mesh bed leveling, stored and saved the info. As you have done this video I too have noticed you receive the same messages upon boot of the printer: Echo Fade Height Off and Bed Leveling on. I will need to go back into the touch screen and set Fade Height to 10 and save, currently it is still at zero. So the question becomes are these messages normal? Once I set the Fade Height will it stay?

    I don't know if you can advise, I have setup the TFT E3 V3 as this video and my btt skr mini e3 v2. If I use octoprint and the marlin mode on the display I can get the printer to mesh level the bed 3x3. If I use the touch mode and select 1,2,3,4 or 5 points the head homes using the BLT then moves the head around X Y home position but head still over bed, lowers the head rapid without BTL deployment into the bed. Like I say if all homed and I use G29 it checks a 3x3 mesh, one this I did find strange though my bed size set correct if I use 5x5 set in marlin the head dose move off the bed z & y home but dose deploy the BLT but this is now not over the bed. Coming back to it is it not working correctly in touch mode. is this something you can advise on?

I have a bit more info, I have now enabled in Configuration.h #define TOUCHMI_SENSOR 1so I get the TouchMI sensor settings in ABL menu. Tested the BLT and all works ok, in the ABL menu also this deploys the BLT and level's the bed. Where I see a problem is in the LEVALING menu, there are selections for 1,2,3,4 and 5 points and if I click on one the head homes including deploying the BTL to home in centre of the bead then the head zooms off just over the bad around x y homing positions then without the BLT deploying moves the head at speed into the bed. Its almost like this menu levaling.c & levellingControl.c found in user\API is not made for a BLT or set up somewhere or this part of the code the has M401 is not enabled by infoSettings.touchmi_sensor. I cant track this part of the code as this time to origin.

    Hi Mangorille, i placed the tft 35 in my Ender 3 but what i noticed is that the Chip is really hot from the TFT backwards is this normal ? i connect the wires all correctly , Best Regards

      @Mangorille  Před 3 lety

      Hey. Does it seem to be working okay? The display does a lot of processing so it will get warm especially since there is no fan cooling it down. When you say hot, did you check it with a temp gauge?

Everytime when i shut down the printer and switch it on the TFT Calibration comes for the touch. Is this normal ? I have a SKR Mini 1.2 running on Marvel 2.0.7.2 with the TFT35-E3 V3.0 VS Cheetah V1.2 SKR V1.3 PRO an the firmware from the Tft is BIGTREE_TFT35_V3.0_B1.26.x.bin. Best Regards.

    • @Mangorille
      @Mangorille  Před 3 lety

      If I understand correctly, this would be more of a question of your motherboard's compatibility with EZABL and not the touch screen. Check to see if the motherboard you have is listed as compatible.

      The touch screen functionality will not work with that board and it would function no different than the stock screen. You need an upgraded motherboard to leverage the touch screen. I have one linked in the video description.
