- Hi guys,
today we will analyze 2 boards from Bigtreetech, the SKR Mini E3 V1.2 and the V2.0.
In the video, you can check the comparison between these 2 boards and the installation guide of the V2.0 (the procedure is the same for the V1.2).
Also included are the installation instructions for the TFT35-E3 V3.0 display and BLTouch.
For all the tests we used a Creality Ender 3 and the procedure is the same for the Ender 3 Pro.

Thank you - this video helped me to sort out some wiring I had wrong. It is amazing how much quieter things are now!
Great video as usual, great quality screening and better than that.... the clues and the explanations go to what matter most :) Thanks Rui. keep up the good job!
Awesome timing, my new skr 1.4 + tft35 are just arriving very soon, so your video will be very helpful.. thanks.
I remember your tevo videos from years ago I'm glad your still around!!
Thank you so much! It was so helpful as I had a handful of questions on wiring. Your video just saved me!
Awesome video! That's so clear!
Great video as always :-)
Thanks for sharing :-)
Very good video thanks for the clear zoomed in videos.
Following this video I was able to successfully make both upgrades. Did have to watch another one of your videos to figure out where the screws were for the Ender Pro.
amazing Video! really at the point, just what i was looking for. thank you so much!
Thanks a really great guide, helped me set mine up with an Ender 5 Pro and BL touch!
thanks for posting this video, as there were no instructions supplied with the board or screen i would have been lost.
Works great, with a few changes managed to run this board on old but still pretty good Anet A8. Thanks for tutorial, especially with TFT :)
Great tutorial, this helped me get set up in no time at all!
Another thank you. I had everything else working (on a CR10 V2), but wasn't sure how the BL Touch connected. You made it very clear.
Thank you your instructions are clear and on point! couldn't have done it without you! now that bL- touch will be a mess! lol
This is an excellent video! Thank you very, very much!
nice video,, everything very well explained and illustrated, congrats....keep going.
Thank you. Bigtreetech firmware is not working on my Ender 3 Pro. This one from you works very well.
Helpful video. Quick question, what do the 2 fan cables need to be swapped around? Thanks
Thank you so much for this great video. Your video is the only one I could find that actually slowed down enough on plugging in the cords that I could clearly see where it went. Either hands are in the way or the video inside is really dark.
Bought a used Ender 3 Pro that already had the touch screen installed. I just upgraded to the v2.0 board and picked up the BLTouch, a Micro Swiss hotend, and a dual gear extruder. Hotend fan was melted to the old (aftermarket) hotend, so I had to rotate my main board cooling fan to the hotend and borrow my Raspberry Pi 4B and 5V fan (waiting on buck converters to ship still) to temporarily cool the board so I can print my Hero 5 fan ducts for the Noctua fans.
Your video helped me figure out the touch screen control board. I now know I'm missing the black serial cable, explaining the "No Printer Connected." Also, my BLTouch did not come with brackets, so I have to print them as well (on a printer that isn't running yet).
Quite the juggling adventure, but this video is helpful and added to my resource playlist to review again later.
I have zero experience with 3D printers.
Cheers got the info I needed.
Hi ! Thanks for your video it will be helpfull for my next upgrade. I'm wondering which Bl Touch Mount you're using
hey man, I just installed this on my ender 3 v2 and I noticed that my power light is red. When I start a print, I hear a beeping noise for half a second, but the print still works. Are my lights incorrect? I have one flashing green light while printing and a static red light when the printer is on. Also, is the printer supposed to beep when u start the print? thanks great vid btw
Thanks bro great tutorial
Great video guys. I'm about to go put the board in my ender and pid tune the microswiss hotend and figure out the current and esteps for the orbital extruder. I have a brand new bl touch that I've had since August of last year. I don't mind the corner paper method but I'm putting on a pei bed as well and I'm wondering if it's worth it to install the bltouch or just play with it some day when I'm bored. I have a spare y gantry plate if the existing one is warped. I'm replacing the glass, hotends and main boards on both my ender and cr10v3. I plan to enclose that one and keep the separate enclosure box.
Thanks for the video.
I've got the same board + TFT35.
I use the connector next to the PSU input to power the electronics fan. The two left are for the hotend fan (Fan1) and the print fang fan (Fan0) which the speed % can be modifyed with the slicer or in the screen menu. This way I can also adjust the temp to start the fan of the hotend in the slicer as well.
I'm having problems with the display of the print time. no info are displayed. Thanks for your help
Great video. I am a bit behind the times and willl be doing this upgrade to my Original Ender 3, although I have never had any problems with it. I am puzzled by the comments on the "noisiness" of the machine. I do not think it is bad at all, and far better than the terribly loud and headache giving crap "music" the neighbours play all the time. With all my doors & windows closed, and the curtains drawn, that crap "music" still drowns out the little noise of my Ender.
Do we need to remove the Z limit switch if we install the BL Touch? I'm curious about the Z stepper motor unable to stop even though I have fully followed the steps as video.
Great video - very helpful. Amazingly so, thank you! Can you tell me what wire gauge your wire ferrules are, please? Thanks!
Hi. Have you a guide to install filament runout sensor and firmware changes to use onTft 35 instead of Mainboard.
The stock ender 3 boards have both the part fan and electronics fan wired to the same power connection so that if you turn the part fan off, the electronics fan also turns off. I was wondering if the v2 board has separate power controllers for the part fan and electronics fan?
Hi, your video is VERY helpful except when I turn on the power yes I get the message "printer no connected" but then the screen goes dark after a couple of seconds. anyone have an idea why? I'm using an Ender 3 with the TFt screen and SKR mini V2.0. thanks in advance
This is a good video, however, the wires that I have to the BL Touch are Blue (Not Brown), red and yellow and black and white. Why is that not mentioned? I have both versions of 1 and 2.
Will this guide and the V2 board work with the CR10 along with the TFT touch display??
I got a 3D touch for my SKR Mini E3 2.0 and have set it up the same way you have but all I get printer starts to load with it in and then shuts down.
If I try without the 3D Touch plugged in the printer loads fine.
The wires are a different colour to your touch as mine are blue, red, yellow, black and white in that order.
How long does it typically take for the printer not connected screen to clear? I've waited about 5 mins and nothing.
Well one of my heat sinks didn’t have any adhesive on it so that’s unfortunate. Any suggestions on anything I can buy to stick it to the board?
Hi. I have a Ender 5 pro. I been looking like crazy how to install the firmware as you do to Ender 3. I have Ender 5 with skr mini e3 v2.0 with bltouch. Could you point me some video or info how to fix the firmware to my printer? (Im new. Only a few weeks with 3d printer) Thanks!
Great video! Question: once the z-axis stop connector from the bltouch is connected to the board, what do we do with the original wire coming from the z-axis limit switch?
Hi, the original endstop cable you can remove and keep it as spare.
Does the skr mini have the same issue as the original ender 3 board where the electronics fan and part cooling fan are wire to the same place? This is a serious issue if printing with the part cooling off which would also turn off the electronics fan.
Fantastic tutorial for anyone changing out their board, nice work.
Can i connect the bltouch v1 to ender 3 v2 board??
hello Ruiraptor
I have installed the same way you said the layer cooling fan and the box fan... but none of those are working. What could cause this?
Hey quick question i coudn't find it any where will the BIGTREETECH TFT35 SPI V2.1 Touch Screen Display work with the skr mini v2?
My board powers up for a second then powers off even though the print fans stay on, did I mess something up?
what a great video, thank you so much for taking the time to make it!!! all the best from the uk..ps new sub added
Hello, where did you buy the pods? I am looking for the same on French websites.
Hello .. does the wifi module allows for remote printing ???
Thanks. That was great.
há uns 3 ou 4 anos que comprei a minha impressora 3d e nunca tinha descoberto o rui. nem sabes a falta que me fizeste e eu não encontrava os vídeos a ajudar 😅 keep up the good work rui
Olá, obrigado pela mensagem. Abraço
one of the best clear videos on youtube, but what did you plug the hotend fan wires
Hello friend, my Ender 3 printer and I have the Touch-Mi device for automatic level and plate calibration
SKR Mini E3 v2 0 and I want to flash Marlin 2.0.1, I don't know how to configure the TOUCH-MI.
Can you tell me if you have the Marlin 2.0.1 configured so that EL Touch-Mi works. Thank you
Great video! Do I need to flash the firmware even if I am not using BL touch? Or am I ready to print as soon as the new board is installed?
We would recommend to flash the latest Marlin version.
.:thx:. googled for half an hour without a result how to connect the screen but first video on youtube did the job.
i just insatled v2 in my ender 3, but now it does not reconnize the onboard sd card, hod do i fix this?
what gauge ferrule did you use?
Can I substitute the cr touch for the bl touch
can this be use to upgrade the ender3 v2?
Thanks for this. The official video from BIGTREETECH doesn’t show the one end of the TFT cable having 4+1 pin connections instead of 5 which caused me to hook up incorrectly the first time.
ya i saw her fiddling with the 5 pin connecter putting it on the board only reason i put it on right the first time
Great video! Downloaded the BLTouch firmware and it seems to work. Problem I’m having is that the nozzle is way to high. I tried the z off set function but it will not move down. What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated.
I second this Comment. Nozzle is too high and can't set Height of Z lower than 0.0 on Printer settings. Basically AutoHome ends in the air when the Probe hit's the bed.
Hi,
the nozzle is too high because the Z-offset is set to zero. You need to calibrate this value.
The z-offset value will vary according to the BLtouch support mount you use.
While printing, use the babysteps feature and move the z down untill it's at the correct height.
Then, use that value for the z-offset and store the value. Start the printer again and check.
The z-offset value will vary according to the BLtouch support mount you use.
As a note, our Z-offset value is -1.2
Figured it out!
It’s a repeat process of autoHome, zeroing the Z axis, and then offset Z probe.
1) AutoHome
2) Lower Z axis down to 0.0
3) Check how far the nozzle is from the surface.
4)Adjust the Z offset with control/motion/z offset
5)Store Setting
6)Repeat until the nozzle is where you want it.
@@bucsfann20 yeah that doesnt work ether.
Mine will not come down
@ruiraptor ... I downloaded your bin file from patreon, loaded it onto the board and it made the pezo alarm scream nonstop. Any idea what could be wrong?
my part cooling fan and motherboard fan comes on but the front facing heatsink fan doesnt turn on. any ideas why? i double checked the wires i saw in this video you didnt plug in the front facing fan
algum destes funcionam com a tevo tarantula classica ?
Hey nice video and very easy to follow. By the way; what kind of surface are you printing on? Looks awesome.
Hi Keith, we are using the Biqu steel sheet.
Hi i know you posted That a year ago but ive tried twice with the stock LCD screen from the Ender 3 max i cant compile IT at all could you help me out please
Is there a way to get the raw bin file so I can edit config to ender 3 max
Thanks for the video and compiled binary. Unfortunately, when I try to enable auto bed leveling I get an error "Failed to enable Bed Leveling". The BL-Touch seems to work as it passes its self test (10 cycles of probe deployment/retraction) and responds to probe deploy/retract commands. Do you have any thoughts?
Hi Leroy,

Would it be possible for you to provide the source from which you built the binary?
my screen is black when i power on any ideas how to fix?
Can i use this board with anycubic kobraneo.
So we can use the existing rainbow ribbon cable with the new TFT35 screen because the gray cable that came with the board is too short?
Hi, yes, you can use the rainbow flat cable instead the gray one. It will work the same.
Is this considered an upgrade for ender 3 pro?
You say to remove the tinned ends and that the crimped ones are safer. Why's that just out of curiosity. I just replaced this board and didn't crimp on new ends, is that something I should be planning to correct soon?
Thanks for the video, it was great
Hi, from stock, the ends are tinned with solder. When you tighten the screw type connectors with tinned ends, these will be crushed and will not make a perfect conection. With time, it will increase the contact resistance and therefore increase temperature which may eventually melt your connector and wires. For safety and performance, it's recomended not to use tinned ends. The correct (and professional) method is to crimp ferrules.
Gonna Install this on ender 3 V2
My skr 2.0 board can't wait a Micro sd card. What's it for? Anything in it?
hi i have the skr mini e3 v2 and the tft35 e3 v3 but for the filament load unload and park head features to work you have to specify the screen in marlin...when i specify the REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER as per the documentation i cant build the firmware as it says #error "Only CR10_STOCKDISPLAY, ZONESTAR_LCD, ENDER2_STOCKDISPLAY, MKS_MINI_12864, and TFTGLCD_PANEL_(SPI|I2C) are currently supported on the BIGTREE_SKR_MINI_E3."
How do i specify the tft35 e3 v3 in the firmware...i need this so i can make the filment runout park the head on pause. any help is useful thank-you
What size ferrals for the connectors?
Excellent video, just got my BTT SKR V2. This will help. Will you do a further in depth BLTouch install video?
Hi Anson, thank you for your comment.
So what display did you use in Marlin? i keep getting this error: "Only CR10_STOCKDISPLAY, ZONESTAR_LCD, ENDER2_STOCKDISPLAY, MKS_MINI_12864, and TFTGLCD_PANEL_(SPI|I2C) are currently supported on the BIGTREE_SKR_MINI_E3."
Did you ever end up finding out which one to use?
@@p0st4L yes. it doesn't matter. since it has its own CPU, the TFT35 runs its own software and simply talks to the SKR MINI via commands and ignores all of those Marlin display settings. I left it on the stock cr10 display. but you can also comment them all out too and use to display.
All the display settings are for if you are going to hook up a screen that the SKR Mini has control of. Like the Zonestar LCD display or the CR10 display.
Also, you will need to use VS Code to flash software( i think its a version of marlin or similar) onto the TFT35 similar to the Marlin one for the SKR Mini to get it all to work properly or if you want to change the icons and such.
I installed big tree tech motherboard and display. Now it shows no printer attached!. Why?
Great vídeo, thanks Rui 💪 It Run good on v3 mini 3
I Aldo buy a creality cv- laser module . Can you help me to install it
Does this work with sprite extruder pro
Once I installed the bltouch the TFT goes blank. Any ideas why?
Do you guys have the complete marlin files for the bltouch setup, the one's that you would import into vscode? I'd like to edit linear advance settings and such
Hi Alex, yes we have. You can contact us by email and we will share it, no problem.
@@ruiraptor is this an email that I would find on your patreon?
Yes, correct.
Hi!
I need help installing this board on Anet A8 Plus, I do not know what to do, I can't find anything for this printer with this board. Can anyone help?
Just wondering why someone would choose marlin mode over touch screen?
Have you seen someone put one of those modern 3d printer boards in one of those K40 chinese laser cutters to replace the awful board they come with (which has no power control for the laser)? I think it would be a cool project
Thank you
how do i know what size terminal connectors i need?
I have an old Tevo Tarantula that I like and don't want to throw away, however, the mainboard is giving me trouble (extruder driver stopped working), Is the SKR mini E3 a good replacement?
Yes, the SKR is a good replacement. Do you have the old MKS Base board?
@@ruiraptor yes, thats the one I currently have. can you point me to any video where I can flash the SKR mini e3 to work with my tarantula?
I don't think there's a video with the explanation for the old tarantula with the SKR mini. Can you contact us by FB instead? Maybe we can help setting up the config files for your tarantula.
Thanks for the video and the compiled .bin file. Finally got things up and running. Does the touch screen make a sound when you make selections? Are they still gone because of the BLTouch?
Yes, it beeps, but the sound can be turned off.
Soo anybody know how to enable the BLT in configuration.h?
Seems like that part is missing
the bin file is in the description
I did everything to a t and my hot end fan don’t work the board looks fine no shorts should I get another fan or send back the SKR
Yes
Mks Robin E3d or skr 1.4 turbo not is possible installed in ender 3 pro?
Hi, you can also install the MKS e3d on the ender 3 pro as it's plug and play too. You can check our video here: czcams.com/video/k9A8JYxBvqE/video.html
I checked the new bullet points in v2 and realized I can get 1.2 for 50% the price of v2.0 today, so I opted for the old version.
1. external EEPROM durability increase can be dubious especially if you don't change settings much
2. not planning to use dual Z motor
3. using 3D touch as z probe and not using sensorless homing
All of these means v1.2 is just fine. I keep my 20 bucks
Can I use Bigtreetech skr mini E3 V2 in the 3D printer I made myself?
If the inputs and outputs from the board are enough for your printer then yes, you can use it.
14:49 - How did you get the layer information on the bottom of your screen? Amazing tuto btw c:
Hi, that is a small script that is added in the slicer.
My only issue, is the download of the firmware on github, and the choice of which file to modify, but nothing is said about this.
