    I am very impressed by all your Jamaican fruit trees on your property. I'm from Jamaica and I've lived in Orlando for over 40 years. I have a Lychee and an East Indian mango tree also. This year we've had a mild winter and as a result I have a lot of young mangos and Lychee. I also have a naseberry and otaheite apple tree. The reason I have good luck with my east indian is because I use a propane heater under the tree when it's cold. Try doing that with your east indian.

    Get more diversity where all the lychees are. You can plant smaller plants in between! Because if you get pest, the other plants will act like a “barrier” to discourage pest going from one lyche to the other. 👍 food forest!

    • @dellriat9026
      @dellriat9026 Před rokem

      I never know anyone who dies from eating Ackee, but if you eat a fruit that’s not fit, it may harm you because if you force it open and consume it then it could be, therefore you have to wait until it’s fit and opens all the way, in that way the toxic gas is released so it’s safe to eat. It’s just like eating any young fruit ,it could scorch your mouth.

    For the banana to fruit you have to remove the suckers growing around it

    • @Dimps1850
      @Dimps1850 Před rokem +2

      No, if you do that when the main tree bears and dies she wont have any more banana trees. She would have to wait until the suckers are almost half the height of the main tree to remove it, then she will have to wait nine months before it bears. Leaving it at the root of the main tree will allow her to get fruit from the suckers much faster. I have a lot of banana trees. I never remove the suckers.

    Beautiful property, love all the fruit trees, some of the things I did not hear is guavas, bread nut, bread fruit, oranges, citrus’s, but omg you have an amazing array of fruits. The reason sometimes the grafted trees or Julie mango returns to its original mango is because the grafted piece is lost by the damage, and the stock tree was allowed to grow ,instead of the new pieces below the graft being removed. Great job! Did I hear you say bear or was it deer? I would not want beats on my property, I would be afraid!

    What about the scotch bonnet peppers? Can´t have a garden without peppers. I succeeded in planting scotch bonnet seeds in a pot here in Sweden inside the house and they grew quite well and bore fruit but you have to pollinate the flowers yourself before any fruit will grow....it´s very sensitive to the cold weather so you have to make sure they are warm during winter months.

    I would like to advise viewers that ackees must be cooked, and not eaten raw. Wait for the ackee to spread open showing the fruit and seeds. People only get poisoned when unscrupulous sellers open the ackee with a blade instead of waiting for it to open naturally. Take out the seeds clean the red from the inside and the hard part left by the seed. We have been eating ackees forever we pick them from our trees, never buy. Delicious with or without saltfish. Lovely lady nice property. Just one observation, why not plant dwarf coconut trees? the tall ones scare me
