- Hey guys! I wanted to make a video of what I remember from my SPI to help ultrasound students that haven't taken/passed their exam yet. Every exam is not going to be identical (some of the questions I got, other students didn't get), but these are some terms and questions that could possibly be important to your exam. Feel free to ask questions OR post questions that you remember from your SPI that might help others grasp important aspects of ultrasound physics! Happy studying :)
Thank you Marissa, this information is very helpful!!!
So Happy I kept My Edelman book! Been holding off on taking the exam but now that I am ready, The book magical turned up when it was missing for months! haha
I’ve been reviewing your tips within a two month period as well as reviewing the questions I received from the Edelman physics review and I take my exam today!
GOOD LUCK. Don’t second guess your answers 🤞🏽
Hey! I think for your question around the 10:30 mark it's either electrical to mechanical (transmission) or mechanical to electrical (receive). That would be my guess since the machine uses electricity to generate pulses (sound waves are mechanical), and then converts the echoes back to electrical for storage and display. Thanks for the video! Excited to take my exam soon!
That's my guess too. How did your exam go?
This is seriously SO helpful! I take my SPI in a week and this helped so much. Thank you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
How did you do? I completely failed it and scared to take again
@@noname-os4fs I failed too 👎🏼missed it by 10 points
Thank you very very much. I honestly think you should do some sort of tutorial for SPI exam. I found your channel by accident. You helped me very much. I think I am taking the SPI later this year.
You're a life saver thankyou!
Thank you for all your help!
Hi James! I don’t know if got a chance to see previous comments but here is a practice test I put on quizlet that is similar to what you will see for your SPI :) quizlet.com/529436142/spi-practice-test-flash-cards/
@@marissarenee9672 hi Marissa, thanks for the info but it was deleted any other links thanks
@@trosa3109 Here is another great quizlet! quizlet.com/354175187/spi-ardms-test-a-and-b-flash-cards/
Side lobes: single. Grading: multi. Subsiding grading can help
Thanks!! Taking my test this Thursday
good luck!!! Don't forget to flag if unsure, some questions may help with the ones you don't know :)
How did it go?
Hi! I stumbled across your video, thank you SO much! I take my SPI next month, and I was wondering if they’re going to ask questions as far as definition wise? (What is Q-factor? A unit less number related to extent of damping)
Thank you for the tips
Spectral refraction: 90 degree angle
Hello, Thank you for sharing this video, it is great. I am an MD from Argentina and I am thinking about taking SPI exam studying by myself. Do you know where can I apply for an Intership?
Thank you again
Thank you!
Than you for your video.
So do I study the questions in the back or the end of the chapter
What creates the turbulence flow? Reynold number
Thanks alot
Color Doppler; uses an ensemble; degrades temporal resolution; records mean velocities; range specificity.
Hi. Thanks for ur video. Just wanted to ask if the SPI exam is all written or do u also have a demo exam?
Hi! So your actual test will be taken at a monitored testing site on a computer. The green Edelman textbook that I used was spot on to the SPI. This is what the book looks like :
www.everytext.com/gp/show_book.php?isbn=9780962644450&gclid=Cj0KCQjwnqH7BRDdARIsACTSAduDED6nABntYsq_B3Nih6G1r37ou8prKWfDAFd0s6ogkDVHZpTfQ2caAlZGEALw_wcB
I used the ExamRefresh website that was just like the SPI as well that gives interactive practice exams that will be on your test. Here is a video that helped me a lot as well: czcams.com/video/MlLqqBqzK98/video.html
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions :)
@@marissarenee9672 I am so glad you replied. Thank u very much.
Hi, this video was very helpful! Thank you so so much. I have a question! I am taking my test in 2 days & I was looking over the doppler equations & there are just way too many. Would you be able to tell me which ones to focus more on please? I appreciate it! :)
Hi! Last year there weren’t really equations asking what is what but it’s more so the concepts and variables of how Doppler works! Hope this helps.
Aliasing: how do you fix it? Adjust the scale
Where was blood flowing with scale: flowing towards transducer
So know everything pretty much
turnaroundherewego !! Lol it feels like it! But DOPPLER IS BIG ON THE EXAM!
Where is your link to your quizlet you made similar to spi ?

Link didn't work for me 😬😔
Awesome video ! Have you taken the abdomin registry yet ? If yes please make a video on that too !!!
Hi and thank you but I am still in school and will be taking the exam next summer ☺️
update: I have taken the OBGYN board and passed if you're interested in this field.
@@marissarenee9672 congrats i took that one too. Im studying for Vascular registry now.
@@armelley_6700 good luck! let me know how it goes! 👍🏽
@@nk4140 hi! I used the red penny book and the online site: ultrasound registry review. My tests had a LOT of fibroid pictures but every test is different.
Does anyone have understanding ultrasound physics in pdf format? I really need it becuse this is not available in our country 😢 as well as Amazon services are also not available here.
Did you use ONLY the green edelman book to study or any other book also?
Hi ! I also used ultrasound physics and instrumentation-SPI 211 by Edelman. This book has hearts placed by specific texts that would pertain to the SPI!
@@marissarenee9672 thanks alot! Did u mean 2011?
@@marissarenee9672 also, is it the ESP book you are talking about?
Do you recommend exam refresh or ultrasound registry review
For the SPI I would recommend the green Edelman book but I have tried the URR just for the OBGYN exam and it was helpful.
Great help
Hi did you take the practice test from the actual ardms website before your exam?
I found a quizlet online that someone else must have paid for because they were the exact same question. What helped me the most was the green Edelman book called Understanding Ultrasound Physics
@@marissarenee9672 can you send the link of the quizlet plzzzz?
What is duty factor? Fraction (and percentage)
2/100
Which school do you go to?
Hi ! can someone please tell me if its better to go to the location or do the exam at home???
In my opinion, it’s better to take it in person. You can write down notes and are given headphones if you need them. A classmate of mine took it at home- you are not allowed to have anything in front of you, empty room, and will get in trouble if you have ppl in the background or telling ppl to be quiet in your house 😅
@@marissarenee9672 thank you!
Hi Marissa.
Is there a way i can connect with you?
Can anyone give a feed back if you passed or didnt pass the exam i am terrified, about to take it at the ending of my can you guys give the feed back from your experience from watching marrissa renee video ? Did you all pass ?? Was this video helpful ?? Omg! Thank you marissa i am taking my exam soon and all your info sounds helpful ☺️ thank you so so much
Hello, is it all multiple choice?
Hi! Yes, all multiple choice.
Adjusting gain: 75%
Can sound travel in vacuum : no
what is SPI
Sensitivity, ALARA
I’m taking my SPI Wednesday..is it as crazy difficult as I heard?
I think it depends on how much you’ve studied! A lot of questions were straightforward but it’s how much you can retain or know concepts that will get your through the test faster!
I’ve read through this green book 5x and have been going through it nonstop! If it’s straightforward then blesss!
@@amandajean1945 GOOD LUCK 😊
@@amandajean1945 feel free to update! lol. I'm taking mine in a month or so. I have heard about the questions being confusing
If you know the concepts and have reviewed the green book over and over you will be fine! The only thing I used to study was the green book and I passed! They try to trick you with some questions so just read them carefully!
As a person who has not even applied for the program, everything you said was foreign to me. How well do programs teach you what you need to know?
I could totally see how everything sounds foreign but if you have a great teacher like I did they can explain to you why and how we can apply these things in ultrasound. A lot of stuff we don’t always use but it’s good to know! Definitely a great question to ask a program during the interview what their teaching style will be.
@@marissarenee9672 Thank-you for the quick reply! I’m so nervous and I hope I can apply within 2 years!
It’s been 7 years I’ve been thinking about trying to take it once more. I’m not sure if I took to long🥺
First of all you r very beautiful
