    Today we speak with Dru, The Skilled Sonographer, and discuss some tips and advice for those of you who will become a registered diagnostic medical sonographer. In order to become registered, your first step before taking a specialty exam is completing and passing the SPI (Sonography Principles and Instrumentation). It is not an easy task and many do not pass on their first try (like me!) Hear my story and listen to Dru's expertise on the matter at hand. I hope you know there are tons of resources for you to be successful and pass on your first try! If there's anything else you'd like to know or need clarification on, please comment down below!! Good luck studying and take care!

    Thank you ladies for all that you do in helping this community. Dru, your course will greatly help me when I eventually get into my program. Geselle, your honesty on feeling down when not passing is relatable to me and many others, I'm sure. Your persistence and where you are today are a great example on why to not give up and that it can be hard at times. Thanks for another great video and I'm looking forward to the next one.

    I passed the SPI on my first attempt. I used Lange Ultrasonography Review Book (it was provided by my school) I didn’t have the money to pay for Edelman’s seminar. I also used our physics textbook it was Kremkau’s 9th edition book. My advice is to study a bit everyday and focus on understanding concepts and knowing what you got wrong and WHY it was wrong.

    I just passed my SPI today! There were a lot of questions about what to do to improve image ect. What to do to eliminate alliasing. I honestly think that Penny book is enough. I liked it more than Edelman green book. Edelman green book is good. I think questions at the end of that book are harder then actually SPI. I think that question on actual SPI are more general and green book is very detailed which can be good for some people. And also definitely look at the outline SPI summary because everything on it will be on the test. Hope this can help anyone. Good luck to ALL of you!!! ❤️

    Our school tells us to take the exam after we complete the physics class because it will HELP us get placed in a clinical. They say it shows we are serious and shows initiative. I would rather wait until I have more training, but ... THANK YOU for sharing that it took you 3 times. I'm going into mine more relaxed - it's okay to fail. Just get up and try again!

      That's good that they say that! I did take a while to pass and that's ok! I know that I'm a good sonographer and not a good test taker. Keep going and never give up!

    Woohooo! Great collab! Thank you both for your encouragement & inspiration! I happened to speak to a pediatric cardiac sonographer (my goal) last week who was actually burnt out after 12 years in the hospital and was on her way out of that setting. She encouraged me to keep my options open with the many opportunities that sonography brings. It helped me to really see the versatility of this degree! Still pushing forward! ❤

    In your anatomy class Out of thes three separate concentrations of study - Cardiac, Vascular, and General/ OB knowing what you know about anatomy which part of the body was easy to learn?

    • @lolgeselle

    I just want to say thank you for this. I just failed my physics class today and they told me I have to retake the class again. I just wasn’t understanding none of it I felt like that my instructor wasn’t relatable should I say. Me and a few of my peers in my class felt like she forgot that this is our first time talking about or even learning anything about physics since she’s been doing it for so long.

    I’m currently taking physics 10 at a community college as a pre requisite. What tips can you suggest for me to do for better studying skills?

    • @lolgeselle
      @lolgeselle  Před 2 lety +2

      I suggest forming study groups and talking out loud. Explain the concepts and have that stick to your head. I had to keep repeating myself over and over again and write things down over and over again. But that's how I learn personally. Try to find things to relate the concepts back to. Study hard but also take breaks! And don't forget to ask your professors for more help and clarification on subject matters. Definitely turn to CZcams if you like hearing things more :)

I’m also doing the Edelman seminar on the 19th/20th. I’m so scared that I’m going to fail again. Any tips or advice would be so appreciated! Thank you!

    Hi, I've been a medical assistant for 32yrs. I am very interested in becoming a sonographer. Unsure of which school is the best. Some school are between 40,000 to 50,000 with teach maybe 3 modality and others 1..which is 10 to 15,000. How do you decide which one is best.

    • @lolgeselle
      @lolgeselle  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi!! That’s awesome you have such good history in the medical field. I’d say find a few schools, list pros and cons. The most important thing to note is if you can sit for the ARDMS board exams. Highly recommend accredited schools through CAAHEP.org
