Sonography FAQ | College Interview Questions
What's up CZcams fam and WELCOME back to the channel! Welcome if it's your first time, I am SO happy you're here! My name is Geselle and I am an ultrasound technologist, Disney lover, and fellow Vegas dweller. I aim to spread PAWSitivity in the world! Thank you for stopping by and I hope you stick around!
Today's video includes tips on how to ace your college interview... what to expect during a college program interview or college acceptance interview, my advice on how to answer these top 5 commonly asked questions and how to prepare for your interview! I hope you watch the entire thing because it can greatly help you reach your college goals! I am a person who has anxiety and grew up on the shy side, but I have been able to sit through multiple interviews in my life... so definitely don't hesitate to ask me anything in the comments for your personal needs!
Today’s advice: Going to college and getting into a program is not an easy thing to do. It takes time, handwork, and dedication. Remember that anything worth having doesn’t come easy. And if it were easy, everyone would do it. Believe in yourself, be confident, speak with clarity and know that you can achieve anything you put your mind to. Be proud in your life experiences, your strengths and your weaknesses, and show off all your hard work from over the years. If you fall, get back up. Try again and never give up. You got this!!!!!
If you happen to enjoy this video, I'd appreciate it if you liked it and subscribe to the channel for more fun adventures! I would love to have you join the SonoGes family. We are on the road to 1,000 subscribers, and every single one of you means so much to me! As always, take care, be safe, stay PAWSitive, be KIND, and we'll see you in the next one! XOXO, Ges.

When I was doing my interview for DMS, I recall there was another Asian prospective student and we were picked randomly and each asked random questions. The question he got was, "How do you deal with failure? Let's say you got a bad grade. How would you react and how would you move forward from there?" You know how we Asians have this reputation for doing very well in school? I feel like that was this guy, and his answer reflected this: "Hehe I would never fail an exam." He did not make it into the program.
My personal advice, if I may add, is to be realistic during these interviews, be positive, and be modest about the learning experience you're so eager to have in the near future.

hi! i always watch your videos because i’m in college for sonography right now. i’m only a freshman, so i’m taking general ed classes. i’ve had my mind set on doing sonography for about 2-3 years now. your videos are really helpful and insightful! i talked to my advisor a couple of weeks ago, and she told me that based on my gpa and knowledge of the field i am a competitive candidate for the program. this was super reassuring to hear especially as a freshman. i won’t have an interview until summer of 2023 but i’m on track with all of the interview requirements. i can’t wait to start my journey as a sonographer. i love watching your videos ❤️

I just applied to a rad tech program at my community college, but now I am confused if I should have picked sonography instead. Your job sounds more interesting. @lolgeselle  Před 3 lety +1

Amy C. Thank you Amy!! Happy to see you here!! ✨
I would definitely apply to multiple programs if you have the chance to, just need to make sure your pre-reqs will transfer and count for the programs you apply for. It doesn’t hurt to apply to more than one but if you have your eyes set on one place just know if you don’t get in the first try when you apply the second time some will usually like to see that you’ve applied before. What it comes down to is how long are you willing to wait. I had friends who actually waited 2-3 years to get into our program. But really just depends on you! And the programs are possible to get into, just gotta show how much you want it and network where you can! 💕

But for now, focusing on getting prepared for prereqs! And great reminder about making sure classes transfer over! That is a must- Thanks! Hope you're having a great weekend so far!

Hi Geselle, I had my 1st admissions interview. I received an email for a 15 minutes 2nd interview. I thought I answer every question they asked. Never heard of a 2nd interview.
What do I expect in a 2nd interview? What type of questions?

Congrats on the interviews! Maybe they want to just know a little bit more about you and your future goals/ aspirations. Definitely just go into it expecting for them to ask personal/ situational questions. You've got this, just be confident!

Would using my preventative mastectomy as a way to stand out be bad? Like I don’t want their pity but it’s a part of what inspired me to go into this field. Being able to speak up when patients don’t feel heard.
I was young and felt a lump. My doctor wouldn’t listen to me so I got a second opinion, ultrasound found a tumor ( luckily benign) but at 23 I decided to have a mastectomy since I tested positive for BRCA1…. I don’t want to over share but if the story helps😅

Yes of course! Your personal story is personal to you, and that is definitely something they will remember you by. I think you can use that as a way to show your passion and confidence about you wanting to be better for your future patients! I think that is a perfect way to stand out and not bad at all. You're showing them the impact the medical field has had with your life!

What do you typically wear for these interviews?

Wait, I’m confused so is this to enter the sonography program or is this afterwards . I never heard of being interviewed to enter a college program

    • @lolgeselle
      @lolgeselle  Před 2 lety

This is to apply into a sonography program. Some programs require an interview process in order to be considered into the program.

Just got my results (rad tech) and unfortunately i did not get accepted. Very hard, competitive program and what questions i thought would be in it, was not. Questions were all situational, 2-3 part answer and they were all the hardest interview ive ever been in

@@Stefin770 it is critical thinking, but not entirely based on HESI. I wish u luck tho

@@Plasma_King dang, do u kind of remember what exactly they said? How am I supposed to study then? lol. For my college(HCC), they recently implemented interviews(i think this year actually), previously they only made u take critical thinking questions on the HESI instead.

@@Stefin770 yeah i still do, right after the interview, i wrote down all questions they had asked while it was still fresh in my head. As far as my own interview research tho, i learned that a lot of UNI program interviews have their own style of asking questions.

Job interviews definitely involve a lot of bullshitting and that’s probably why I’ve always dreaded them.
