    Currently studying for the TEAS and I’m stressing. Now I’m questioning myself if this is the career I want. I was so close to graduations with a business associates then I changed to DMS, now I’m just having a breakdown. I don’t have a passion for anything. Everything is just spinning in my head. I hate my life ...

      Everything is going to be a challenge! This is how I was. Pushing past the challenges no matter what field you study will help you in the long run. It’s okay to second guess because it’s hard but DO NOT give up, you won’t know if it was for you or not in the end. Keep trying, get tutors, put your best foot forward (in all aspects even studying and talking with your professor) and it will be okay. 🫶🏾 Good luck wish you the best.

I definitely saved the hardest courses for last. I’m active duty military, so I’m completing my prerequisite courses while I serve. Love that I found you a few weeks ago! I'm currently putting my application packet together to submit to my DUTEC Department Chair to see if I'll be accepted into the program at a local community college. Regardless of pathway, my DUTEC program only accepts 30 students a year maybe 35 if they feel they have deserving candidates and other CC's only accept 15 students so be aware that it is a competitive program. It never hurts anyone to be proactive and do your research on the specialty fields and the school you're looking to attend. Usually the manual and and other helpful links to info sessions, email to the department, FAQs, etc to help you know what to expect.
    I love your videos! They have helped me so much in a very short time. Every time I listen to one, my anxiety goes down (yay) or inspires me to to go look into at another specialty I could use sonography.
    Thank you for being so upbeat 😁 and clear (10 min vids 👍) in your explanations! I can't wait for more videos!

    I am so sad. I have a B.A. in English & after years of having unrelated jobs & working as a Receptionist in doctor offices I grew interested in Sonography. I went to Montgomery College and had to take Medical Terminology I & II and Biology. I made A’s in the Medical Terminology but couldn’t seem to pass the Biology and then Coronavirus hit in 2020 and I had to drop out.
    I wanted this so bad for me. I’m happy for you, it seems like we were there at the same time.

  • @shamans123
    @shamans123 Před rokem

    I find it interesting that there were so many pre-reqs to get into the DMS programs in Maryland but maybe entry isn't as competitive because of that, or at least there's fewer applicants. Where I'm from (BC) there's only 4 high school level minimum pre-req courses but this in part makes my closest DMS program very competitive. At least for DMS entry at this school, 90%+ is expected to get in but, in comparison, the 1st year college courses you described may be more challenging. Sadly, idk if I can get into my nearby DMS program because of how competitive it is to get in but I'll have to try and find out. All the other ones in my province are fairly far away from me :/.

      @dpaper7962 Před 2 lety

      @@arstolotle Even with "dual enrollment " like Howard and Montgomery Community College, the program is actually still a 3-4 year program to graduate because in reality to enroll in any Diagnostic Medical Sonography program you need to have a minimum of an associates degree to enroll in the actuall program. So for Maryland, Howard and Montgomery may seem like they are just an Associate Degree program, but those programs are still 3+ years to complete because the way the have their application set up so you can have 60+ credits by the time you are actually in the program. For example: We are in Fall 2021 Semester. Everyone has the prerequisites all ready to go to apply for the next application opening date for September 2022-January 2023. That's 1 year in school by now. Now you got accepted, YAY!!!, So you will be joining the next program start date which will be Fall 2023. Which now you been in school for 2 year's. So that 2 years is for you to get that 60 credit total mark to qualify for an "Associate Degree " with Howard and Montgomery so you can now join the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Hope that makes sense.

    I'm trying to find what I would like to do with my life/career. I am a male very interested in sonography, especially in OB sonography. It's certainly a female dominant career, can anyone working in ultrasound give me some insight of what I should do? Are mothers comfortable with male sonographers?

    • @elliemack5356
      @elliemack5356 Před 2 lety +1

      Males definitely could be ob-gyn sonographers, if that’s what you want that’s great, however it’s not all babies and mothers when you specialize in ob-gyn you aswell do pelvic Sonos and check for cyst etc it as well works in the vaginal area, If that makes you uncomfortable you can still be an rdms but you could specialize in abdomen and if you work in an ER you can aswell work with a little bit of everything!

    But in ultrasound it seems they make more and have more job openings
    The girl who did RT went back to school to for ultrasound! She wanted a more challenging career. Maybe I'll do both like her 🤷 she got accepted right away into the ultrasound program because she had already went through RT school
