ICU nurse here! I love sonographers! Very important members of the health care team. This video was well made and a great resource for those interested in pursuing sonography. Will definitely share this with anyone interested in the field 🤗👏🏽
Congrats on being a nurse
Thanks! Love the support! I appreciate you!
you definitely broke everything down and explained so well. thank you very much! i’m currently in school for majoring in radiology and then i plan to specialize in ob/gyn sonography ☺️
💗
I’m doing the same thing!
How did going to school for radiology and jumping into sonography for you ? Isn’t radiology and sonography different?
@@jonaedorsey4611 yes they are different. Radiologist use X-rays etc and sonography does not. They are 2 different things but have similarities
@@jonaedorsey4611 Where I'm at, and depending on the school, you have to have a bachelors in Radiography Technology before receiving specialty training in other diagnostic imagery which sonography would fall under. So I have to go through my paces as an X-ray tech before moving on to sonography.
Learning all of these right now… the school I’m looking at tuition is 61K for two years and in my location cardio vascular and registered diagnostic makes about $41-$100 range and median is $56-$68
Thank you so much for this!! I’ve been feeling super unsure and overwhelmed with online school this semester.
Thank you! I was wondering about this just yesterday and feeling overwhelmed. Perfect timing!
Thank you for making these videos!! I'm just starting to think about becoming a sonographer and your videos are helping me pin point what I would like to specialize in if I go into this field. 😊
I get regular ultrasounds on my breasts for my tumors and the woman always make my day that’s what inspired me to go into sonography
Kristy! Your videos convinced me into joining a DMS program, and it was my delight to see my sonography professor include the link to this video in the class syllabus!
I learned so much thank you! I’ve changed my career choice so many times.. first it was medical examiner, music major, dog training, child development major, veterinary major, and now I want to get into sonography. I am 23 years old and only have experience with teaching children. Ive always wanted to do something medical and accomplish something greater. I am going to meet with my college counselor and figure out where to begin
what do u do now?😊
Hello What do you do now?
I start my program in January and couldn't be more nervous! But I feel much better after watching this! I am so glad I found your channel on youtube :)
I’m so glad I found your video. I have always been interested in sonography, but it’s been difficult trying to even find out where to begin. This channel has saved me:))
I’ve really been thinking about going into this career but didn’t know much. This video was so helpful!!
Seriously, thank you very much. I absolutely love how informative, straight-to-the-point, and clear your video is. Soo helpful so thank you again!!
I dont usually comment on videos but your video is so thorough a school should buy your video and use it as a intro guide to students who are interested in sonography but not sure how the road works.
Thank you so much for the info!
I don’t even know where to begin, Im lost
Same. Going to be graduating high school in a month
Hey how’s it going? I can help you out
@@dilly2023 hey how’s it going with sonography? Are you still wanting to pursue this profession? I can help you out.
@@courtneyn4157 help me out I want to pursue it
@@MrAnimeMoon I’m here! what do you need help with?😊
Yes Queen of Ultrasound 👏🏽 the one video every aspiring Sonographer should watch! Very detailed and organized, loved your facts, and as always clear and concise. Great video!! 💖
Kristy! You’re legit a good friend to all sonography students. Totally helping us through this journey. I’m on my first semester and seeing your videos have helped with my classes and to understand how sonography works. I completely admire you!! Keep doing your awesome work 💖
I’m one month into the program and it’s so much work 😫 but I just know it will be so worth it so I’m doing my best, I commented under one of your videos how I had an interview for the program out of 300 applicants they only choose 15 I’m so blessed and your videos helped motivate me into wanting to get into the program more
What does the interview consist of? What type of questions do they ask?😭
Hey, how is it going?
@@larissamarie5224 I was wondering the same thing, I recently finished my application and I'm now waiting for the deadline so they can start with the interviews. I'm so nervous, especially because they'll only choose 12 people for the program.
How's it going so far?
this video helped me a lot!! i wanna get into Sono, but i didn't know there was so much more to Sono. I learned a lot today because of this video
You are beyond amazing!!! Thank you so very much for this video! The breakdown of each path is very very helpful, tho I’m still having such a hard time figuring out if I should start with general or cardiac! 😭
Thank you so much for this girl ❤️I’m looking into going to school for this and this way by far the most helpful and well explained video I’ve seen
yesss! 💕💕can’t wait
Thank You. I’m gathering as much information as I can before I start sonography school! I found out physics and anatomy is important so I’ve been studying that as well!
Out of all the Ultrasound/Sonography videos I’ve watched, yours has been the most helpful when trying to get a clear understanding of sonography. Thank you for breaking down the basics and the credentials. This helped me so much in trying to decide which route I want to take!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! I’m applying to a program this winter. Your videos are so helpful
Hey Kristy,
Watching your videos has really motivated and encouraged me to seriously pursue my RSMS dream. After this academic year, I will be starting my sonography program. Thank you so much for disseminating this resource and insightful information about the branch of the diagnostic medical sonography program offers.
Hey how’d it go?!!
Thanks for the info! I’m a man and I am about 2/3 of the way done my Master’s of Science degree and decided change career paths and start my DMS program this month. Wouldn’t recommend this path into the program but I’m excited to start!!
Thank you so much for this video!! It’s so thorough and educational I’m thinking of going into DMS
Thank you so much for this video I’m thinking about going back to school and this is one of the programs that has caught my attention the most I would like to work with kids but im not sure yet!!
Thank you so so much for this informative video! Looking forward to watching more to come 🤩
Thank you for this video! I plan on applying this January for the program in July at Gurnick Medical Arts .
I think I finally made the choice to switch my major to cardiac sonography, so naturally I'm watching all the videos haha. Thank you so much, very informative!
Awesome video , very informative. I’m glad you mentioned at the end that guys can be Sonographers as well lol. I just got accepted in my two year sonogram program , can’t wait to get started on my journey to become a RVT.
I start my prerequisites in august! I’ve wanted to do DMS for 7 years and after babies and life, I finally get to start. I’ve watched about every video you’ve made and I’m still so excited and thankful for your page. ❤️
Amazing 🥺! currently a stay at home mom of 2 patiently waiting for my time to come, congratulations !! 💕🙏
@@neidalynvasquez693 ah I’m the same! SAHM of two and just starting my upgrading to get into college to get into sonography!
Did you go through school?
Great video. I just finished my first semester in my cardiac sonography program where we will also learn and train for vascular as well. Really enjoying it but it’s tough work for sure.
Thank you so much for making this helpful video! I'm preparing to enter sonography course with late age and also with a language barrier 😖 I'm doing pre-requisites now. I hope you would make this kind of guide videos. Thank you so much!
You're awesome !!! Thank you soo much for all this great information 🙏!!!!!
You are so extremely helpful, thank you sooo much!
Awesome video, you broke down everything so clearly and concisely.
Most informational video by far I've seen Thank you 😊
Love it! First commenter ❤️❤️
Love all of your informative videos, even as a echo student, I found this helpful, especially about how cross training works if one was interested =)
Thank you for the video! this was very helpful. I'm working on my DMS application and I was wondering about the pathways if I had to work on all the credentials possible or what. I am really interested in vascular and echo, but I'm sure the clinical experience will help me decide which one I'll choose. I recently completed a certification in Sterile Processing, and the clinical hours were interesting, it really gives you a perspective of what the job will be like.
This is so helpful! I think I want to get into this. Thank you so much!
Thank you! You answered so many of my questions! I've recently decided to leave the Dental Field to pursue Sonography & I am SO excited!
Do you not like the dental field anymore?
I’m looking at the same thing!!! Let me know how it’s going?!
Same ❤
After 3 years of trying to get into school I’m starting DMS school next week, I’m so excited🙌 I’m watching everything I can find on sonography and I love your videos 💕
R u a Sonographer yet?
how was the schooling for u ?
The best video I've seen on this. I am interested in Cardiac Sonography as well as the brain. But honestly. All of them sound good so I will have to think long and hard about it.
Hey have you thought about it?😊
I love your videos. I finish clinicals in December & this is super helpful! I feel like you’re a friend who’s talking to me & telling me all of this information & advice. Hahah Thanks girl 💘
💕 YOU are the sweetest!
Was schooling really difficult? I'm terrified bc I don't see myself as a smart person. I usually have more difficulty learning things.
Thank you so much, you are helping High School students ❤😊
This was an amazing video! Thanks so much!
Love your video. Very informative!! Thanks 😊
Thank you for making this video! I am interested in becoming a sonographer, I just am not as certain about which type to pursue. This video has helped me to weigh the pros and cons of each option. I was not certain about what RDMS would be about, and now I am considerably more certain , eheh...
I start school in the fall this year. This will be my 2nd career. Thanks for the info. Jus started following on ig 👍🏿
Thanks Kristy for posting your videos! They've really helped me figure out which career path to take. Currently, I am trying to meet some pre-requisite courses needed for the program I want to apply for, and then next spring I'll apply for an AAS in DMS at University of Anchorage Alaska. So wish me luck! I really want to get accepted... any other words of wisdom on how to stand out against competition? About 6-8 students get accepted each Fall, and then otherwise you would have to wait a whole year to reapply again... Aloha from Anchorage! -Angela
❤ thanks for explaining the pros and cons of the job
This video gave me motivation to study before sono program application deadline next spring 😅thanks kristy !! ❤️❤️
Always here to help ! Good luck !
Tips / steps you took?
I really enjoyed this video and your presentation of the content. Good job.
Thank you so much for breaking it down! It is harder to find information for the different concentrations within sonography, especially for cardiovascular sonography. Do you have any tips for getting hired in this field once you’ve become certified? I know in some states it is harder to find jobs in sonography. If you have any tips or advice that would be much appreciated :)
Yes! Omg that was gonna be my next video! I will definitely touch base on that. Especially during COVID-19 getting a new job was a struggle
Hello, I’m also a sonographer from the Philippines. I love watching your videos. 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for clarifying the Physics portion of the program. The mathematical part definitely held me back on pursuing the program because math is my weakness but now I might just go forward with the program 😅 Still have to do more research on my part though.
Yes I am needing to learn whatever math and physics is needed so I can get into and do well in the program. Where do we start on our own?
This was a fantastic explanation. Thank you!
Thank you! This was great!
I'm only in middle school but I know I am going to be a RDMS when I grow up. Your channel is very inspirational.
same over here lol
You got this! thats so amazing!!!
Girl you’re amazing
Thank you so much 😢😢 this helped a lot
Help a lot. Absolutely lite it. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this video!❤️
Thank you! This is very helpful in making my decision
Omg this was super helpful, thanks!! 💖
Thank you I’m about to sign up in my local community college for DMS program! Have to do my prerequisites first! Thank you. Can’t wait for future videos!
Me too! I am about to take several pre-req courses this Fall and next Spring. Good luck!

Great information, you have so much knowledge in your head and you're so kind for sharing it. You speak so quickly and I know that I am not listening too slow. I really wish that you could've slowed down a little bit more while sharing your knowledge because I would've been able to hear it better and retain more of what you said. Thanks.
Thanks so much for this!! ❤
Thank you this was very helpful!
Thank you . brief and well explained

@@KristyDMS Is there a sonographer who does only abdominal check up? If there is, what are they called?
thank you so much for this information.
Hi Kristy! I watched a couple of your vedios and have known your channel for a while. I’m preperating for this career and working on program applications. However, I am wondering about the occupational injuries related to general Sonographers. I did the research online. Looks like about 80% of the Sonographers have some kind of muscular injuries like pain in shoulder, back, or arm. I’m so worryed about this whiling pursuing this profession. What do you think about this? Any of your advice? Will really appreciate!
Thanks for the videos. I’ve appreciated the inside info!
Nice and clean thank you for sharing 👍
My community College only offers General and Vascular, but I want to do Cardiovascular ultrasound. I'm just a bit worried with how I am going to be able to transition over to that lane within the 5 year time frame of taking the SPI exam. Would I have to shadow someone who does echo or let my school know I want to do cardiovascular for my clinicals instead of the general route? Thank you for the help!
Im a junior in high school and im currently in a 2 year program that will allow me to graduate with an Associates Degree when i get my high school diploma but i have no idea what to do after that. All i know is that i really want be a sonographer or a travel nurse but looking at schools and programs is so hard
You're awesome! Thank you for the info, I also shared your vid with my daughter who I'm encouraging to pursuit a degree in Sonography. Very useful 👌
Yay!!
Thanks. Super helpful!
Hi thanks for your tips and i am looking into becoming one i don't have high school education so when I watch a video about trade school and found this i fall in love
Thank you for sharing, I highly appreciate it. God bless! ♥️
9:30 love your videos, they all so helpful. Thank you very much! From Marylander!
She briefly mentions that you might want to go into vascular if you want something more "chill". Does anyone know why vascular might be considered more chill than the other two?
Thank you so much for your helpful tips and information! Honestly, thanks to your video, I was able to understand what an ultrasound actually was. When I saw the word "ultrasound", I automatically used to think of looking at ultrasound images from a pregnant woman and never thought that there were going to be different pathways 😅. Although I have a question, if anyone knows, does sonography has a bachelor's degree or just the certification program? Is ob/gyn known as a specialization such as a master degree where you have to go to a university? Again, thank you for your helpful info!
Hi Kristy! Thanks for the info. Would I be less qualified for a job if i just do a certification instead of AS?
She is good! Very informative.
There’s a new sonography program still in my state the college is literally like two miles from where I live now and I’m thinking about going there
I start Monday thank you so much
I’m interested in RDMS program. Thank you for the video
I am attending one year accelerated cardiac sonography and my program promise me I will be taking the CCI exam, I just noticed this program is not accredited, but the school has been open for more than 50 years. Would this make it hard for me to find a job. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you 😊
Thank you! Helpful
Hello! So I've recently graduated university with a BS of Psych, but I've been interested in starting a program in neurosonography and was wondering how exactly I go about that. I'd love to know where to start for this fall!
Informative vidéo. Thank you.
Hi!
I apologize in advance for this being extensive. I had just got into the DMS program at Indiana University Northwest, which is great. After talking to an individual about his 9-year experience as a Sonographer, he only had negative opinions. He stated how physically tired he was, the extensive work hours, and how difficult it is to barely get by. This gave me the worst anxiety because, through your videos and others, I have seen that, just as in any other job, it can cause you to burn out and become physically tired. I worry that I will face difficult financial troubles and/or not have a healthy work-life balance, and I truly don't want to be put into that position. I know this is a career I feel I belong in, but is there any advice you can give me about this? I know there are ways to expand in this career, be in a healthy work-life balance, and be able to have pay that provides sufficient financial stability. When you have the chance, I would love to hear your advice. Thank you!
Hi did she get back with you? This is a great point. I am halfway through my program and have seen videos speaking on this certain subject relating to ergonomics and work related injuries.
What degree do you need! And how many years does it take!
