If there was a Most underrated player award, this season has to be UPL, look at the numbers he's put up this season for Buffalo and he doesn't get mentioned much outside of Buffalo

I'm trying not to get too hyped, but as a Sabres fan I feel like I'm on Cloud 9 today. Just keep on giving us that effort and chipping away one game at a time. You can already feel the energy in the air around Western New York.
Being a Sabres fan who went to both of those big wins the confidence level of fans is growing. Knowing the Sabres though they’ll either disappoint us (90%) or surprise us (10%). Regardless, LETS GO BUFFALO

I went to the game Thursday night, and while I was enjoying it, it made me sad to think how many of the kids, and hell, even teens in the building had no idea what it was like to watch the Sabres in the playoffs. There are kids getting their drivers licenses this year that can't remember watching a playoff game. Hopefully this is the year, but of course, we've been saying that for ages.

I am from Wpg and have been rooted for Sabres to get into playoffs. They will do it this year. There has been a spark since aquiring Byram!

If UPL plays for any other team he's in the Vezina conversation. The kid has been unreal behind a very offensive focused D core which has left him out to dry a good number of times but he has answered the call each time. Obviously we all expected the offense to slow down from last year but with the 1-2 punch of Dahlin-Bryam on the blueline has opened up the offense to shades of last season. I couldn't be happier to finally see the light at the end of tunnel after over a decade of waiting. The hype in Buffalo for these guys being me back to the mid 2000's.

I always cheer for any team who has never won the cup to one day do so. Vancouver and Buffalo came into the league in the same year and have never won. I hope they both can do it. Go Buffalo.

An interesting stat to note is the Sabres have 9, 1 goal regulation losses this year. I know OT losses are controversial, but if even 3-4 of those have a singular bounce go the other way, the season looks a lot different, even assuming they lose every game in OT or the shootout still.

Byram has been a difference maker. Buffalo has needed a top 4 dman and goaltending for years and they FINALLY got it this year. Fingers crossed for a late season run to wild card but it's heavily stacked against buffalo

Let’s go Buffalo! Anybody else think that the arrival of Byram has lit a fire under Power? The entire dynamic of the defensive core changed including Power’s role, usage and ice time and Power seems to be playing with more urgency and decisiveness now. Also, UPL is the biggest reason why the Sabres have an actual chance at all and I hope he signs at least a bridge deal with the Sabres.
Very much hope that the Sabres make it, as a fan of a Western team.

Depending on how things go, the Sabres are more likely than not, best case, to finish just outside of a playoff spot given the recent play of the Red Wings & Islanders. Tampa Bay making it in 1st wildcard. Worth noting New Jersey & Pittsburgh have games in hand
Also Buffalo getting their best goaltending since 2016-17, when Lehner & Nilsson were performing above average but faltered down the stretch. Same in 2020-21 if Ullmark stayed healthy, which sunk the ship

Y'all will enjoy having Bo in the lineup. He wanted to be the #1 in Colorado, but Cale Makar is the #1 on the Avs. He'll do just fine with the Sabres. Unfortunately I don't see Colorado making it past the 2nd round, but at this point anything is possible.
I hope they grab a playoff spot , the youngest NHL team has a bright future but would be nice to see them in this year! Let’s go Buffalo!!!

When you miss the playoffs 12 years straight and the majority of your former players move on and win cups with other teams your fanbase can get a little nutty. It seems like the hockey gods love effing around with the Buffalo Sabres.

UPL's play has been great, but it's too little, too late as the Isles also have 2 games in hand. Besides, they are tied in pts % with 2 other teams AND must jump over 3 teams to take the last wildcard spot.
II want Buffalo in playoff, It's a strange team, can probably make some other team work hard to beat them . I think Buffalo would grow whit a good motivation.

lmao, no they wont. as a Sabres fan, I am used to their March dash to the finish.
Honestly the fact they are in this spot doesn't surprise me that much as while we'd get dummied by some of the worst teams in the league, there were periods where we'd beat some top teams and make it look almost easy, pointing at games like the 7-0 Sabres vs Kings or 9-3 Sabres vs Toronto Maple Leafs game, hell the Sabres have even swept the Golden Knights as well this year in their games played. They've even grasped out a win from the freaking oilers. This doesn't surprise me as the Sabres have shown themselves to be strong but just feeling like they are missing a few pieces to greatness. It makes sense that giving up a strong forward for a strong defenseman helped the team. Especially when said defenseman is a Stanley Cup Champion and has worked with all of the guys on the team.
That being said I don't really expect them to make it this year, but am looking forward to their prospects that should be starting up next year. The work Kevyn Adams has put into the minor league team has been absolutely insane with some prospects such as Matthew Savoie or Kulich coming soon... I think the Sabres could be a potential contender for the cup in the upcoming years.
**Edit** I don't think the Sabres will be a contender for the cup this year, next year or in 2 years. We still have a ways to go. But with players like Zach Benson who's performing as well as he is at 18/19.... The kid can only get better and bigger. Every player on that team should be getting better, especially with Byrum in the roster and possibly helping the team a bit more too.
If the Sabres make the playoffs and the wings don’t Detroit will have the longest playoff drought in the league. Just throwing it out there

i dont know.. math isnt great, buffalo need other teams to not go on a heater, so the last wc stays at around 89-90. they got 15 games left. they would need 22-23 of those 30 potential points. they have been a .450 hockey team all year. but needs to be a .700-.750 to end the year, that is a tall task.

I'm getting to old for this kind of excitement. Detroit and Buffalo were my 2 teams I figured this was their year.
Detroit had been making me smile, I bought into the Yzerplan, up until 2 weeks ago. Now they are teetering on being out of the playoffs. Fighting in practice and totally unraveling before the hockey gods
