  • In this video I go through the Geometry Regents January 2020, part 1, questions 1-24. I cover many of the topics from high school geometry such as:
    similar triangles, parallel lines and transversals, triangle proofs, partitioning line segments, exterior angles theorem, using trig to find a missing side, using trig to find a missing angle, cross sections, Cavalieri's Principle, alternate interior angles, transformations in the coordinate plane.
    Here is a link to the practice exam:

    If you have any specific topics you want me to cover, let me know in the COMMENT section. Thanks for watching!

    Hi! If anyones wondering, a different way to do question 5 would be to use the SMA formula. First, find the fraction using the ratio. The fraction would be 1/4 becuase you keep the one as the numerator (top #) but add 1 + 3 (the ratio) to get the denonimator (bottom #). Next, you would make a chart for x and y. Under x you would do subtraction (s) 5 - -7 = 12. Then you would do multiplication (m), 12(1/4) = 3. Then you would do addition, -7 + 3 = -4. This is how you find the x-value. To find the y-value you go to your chart under y and do subtraction (s), 3 - -5 = 8. Next do multiplication, 8(1/4) = 2. Finally, do addition, -5 + 2 = -3. This is how you find the y-value. Using this formula your final answer should be the same as in the video: A(-4,-3).

    Why is it 66 for the first one isn’t it supposed to be 114 degrees cz you subtract by 180 I’m confused

    • @vinteachesmath
      @vinteachesmath  Před rokem +2

      The 114 degrees would be the missing angle inside the triangle. You can solve the question by finding that missing angle. However, once your find the angle inside the triangle, the angle we are looking for forms a straight line with that 114 degree angle. So we would do 180 - 114 = 66, giving us the same answer. Your thinking was correct for finding the missing angle of the triangle.

    • @pikifrog
      @pikifrog Před 2 lety

      It's similar, triangle ABD similar to BDC just like their length and think BDC move ccw or it's SAS BD=BD angle D= angle D and then Angle A = angle DBC. So Angle A = angle DBC becuase angle A + angle ABD = 90 just like angle C + angle DBC= 90. For example angle DBC + angle A also equal to 90 because angle A is equal to angle C, it cause SAS shows they are similer :3
