Nice job, you know your a good woodworker when you can fix your own mistakes. Thanks for showing them to us. A lot of people would have deleted the mistakes and made a new video.
I love walnut
looks great
Thank w
Gorgeous boxes, thank you for sharing!
Thanks for showing your entire process. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful! You are welcome
The walnut wood grain is amazing. Just a thought... You could have also cut the bottom of the dado to make a shadow line to match the lid.
Keep up the great videos!
Hi Skyler, thank you for showing us how you create your beautiful boxes. I agree the combination of woods used work really well. Also the information regarding the types of Tung oil used and why. Thank you for the video looking forward to the next one.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You are so welcome! Glad you liked the information on thing oil. Sometimes I wonder if I should have cut those parts out as it seems in lots of my videos I am talking too much. It’s a fine line between not explaining enough and giving too much information
Once again I enjoyed watching how to make this particular box. My favorite part was you making the pillar top for the box. Love that design, and how you make that top. Thanks for showing us how to do that!
Thank you so much! Thank you for watching and your support
Another good video!
top nuch like always
Excellent presentation! Thank you!
Skyler you continue to amaze me with your woodworking and finishing skills along with your knowledge. You must spend a ton of time studying, very nice job.
Thank you very much! I always appreciate your kind comments Mike! Finishing is something I spent a lot of time research.
Great job. Thank you 😊
Excellent job. The woods do compliment very well. Hope you two enjoy the vacation!

Where’s to like to those metal clamps for miters?
Beautiful
I am glad I found your channel.
Me too!
You do wonderful work! Found this channel recently and I am going back to all you posts
Thank you
Beautiful boxes well done
Thank you. I really appreciate it
Really enjoyed your video. I learned quite a number of things. Thanks
Your videos have inspired me to try to make some of those you explain things well.
Hi Skyler, my husband said the top of the box is curly walnut, it is beautiful, he made something for me out of curly maple, try using Johnson’s paste wax on some of your projects it works great, when time to buff it out use a paper towel
Nice work Skyler-was looking forward to this box build.
Thank you. So glad you liked it
Thank you for posting your videos…I’m always learning new techniques for my own woodshop. Salute!
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching
I really like your videos thank you

Great job,you make it easy to try this project myself.
You can do it!
Wonderful work as always, Sky!

Your are such a joy to watch. You are so informative keep it up . Julien
I appreciate that! Thank you Julien
I like your methods, just subscribed.
Your videos are great. I learn a lot and find myself willing to try new things.
Great to hear!
Good job. I like it when the complete UN edited job.
Thanks!
Very nice. Getting boxes good and square is not always an easy thing.
True. Most of my boxes that I made in past are not square
@woodworkingwithSkyler The saw quality helps a lot
I would have filled the slots with another piece of walnut then put the groove on the correct side and ended up with a box with two decorative strips
Those boxes are certainly very nice. The combination of wood works well, I am definitely going to try to make a few when I’m back home. My biggest problem is the number of silly mistakes I make so I need to concentrate more
:) I make plenty mistakes myself
Tung oil is my absolute favorite finish. I normally do 3 coats with 24 hour drying time in between. I'm my own boss now, with no deadlines, so I don't mind taking my time for a quality finish. Prior to this, my go-to had always been Watco Danish oil which is a nice blend. The boxes turned out beautiful, did you consider some contrasting splines?
Love your channel and you have a great shop. You work has so much precision. Also you are very attractive.
Thank you very much
I could watch your channel all day long 😊
You are so kind
Me too
Hi Skyler, it's Grover. This is in my TOP 3 all time favorite Sawdust and Splinters videos. I did press pause and replay several times during this video, no one does this type of content better than you.
@ 24:43 is this you after you got your hair done ?
Wait . . . . . . . after watching the entire video, I changed my vote to THIS is my #1 favorite all time S and S video
Thank you, Grover
Nice boxes 👍
Did you cut the edges of your finished sample board to assess the depth of penetration ?
❤
Enjoy your vacation!
Thank you, I will
Nice box’s how big are they
Your boxes are beautiful and your tutorials are awesome. On a side note, Where did you get that tape dispenser?
Amazon. I just added a link to it in the description
You could have fixed the miter mistake by inlaying a piece of walnut in that slot that would end up on the outside instead of cutting that part off. The groove could also have been filled with colored resin for another design idea. There are so many ways to fix a booboo. I always appreciate seeing the mistakes people make. Then I can come up with my creative ways to mess something up. rofl.
Now I want to make a box with different colored resin stripes on the outside. :P Your videos definitely inspire creativity, thanks!
My goodness you are absolutely gorgeous!!!!! And you definitely know what you are talking about 😀
Hi thanks for your great videos I would love to know what plane you use as I need a small one
Bridge city tools H8 mini. Is an fantastic plane
Easy beginner project when you have the tools!
Absolutely!
Where did you find the jig used to cut the angles on the box lids?
Infinity tools
I see two trash cans full of small pieces. Do you just store it that way or do you just get rid of them.
One can is holding small pieces that could be useful for other projects, the other is scraps blanks that I already glued up together for making birds, handles, etc
I could not find polymerized tung oil on Amazon, could tell me where to buy that Lee Valley product
I bought it from Lee Valley. Com
You could put a piece of 1/4 mdf on top of your 45 sled for a new base, and second you could have placed a thin strip of walnut in the groove and then cut your bottom groove on the inside
Great idea! Will try that
What brand of table saw do you have
Stop saw
Inches??????
you should offer to sell the plans for this box
I would but I am not good at drawing plans
You a beauty
Bring mr ewing on ..
So we can see what the luckiest guy in the world is all about
I hate it when I get sawdust down my shirt. That’s why I dress for what I am doing. I wonder why you don’t…..hmmmmmm?
