I'm American, but one time I was travelling through Europe with a couple friends, and we had been on the road for 4 or 5 hours. We decided to pull off at this tiny little village in France to grab something to eat real quick. I don't remember the name of it. It was kind of up in the hills with gorgeous views, charming little shops, but not many people walking around. The type of place you could drive right passed on a long road trip and not even remember driving through it. It looked like there was only 1 actual sit-down restaurant, so we made our way there. There was an older overweight woman near the door who gave us some menus and pointed at the outdoor tables to take a seat. About 15 min later, the waitress came to take our order. I shit you not, to this day, she was the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my life. Perfect tan, green eyes and strawberry blonde hair. She had that alien beauty that Bill was talking about. Like you couldn't find a flaw on her. I work in a part of L.A. where I see a lot of celebrities and models. They had nothing on her. I'm no simp but she was beautiful on a whole other level. And she wasn't even wearing makeup. Just completely natural beauty and a simple ponytail. Her english was very limited, so she was struggling with understanding us. She got really nervous, which was unlike the other French people we met, who would just repeat what they were saying in French but louder and a more angry tone lol. She had an innocence about her. She went and got the older lady to come and help her. Turns out that older lady was her aunt, and she was born and raised in that tiny little village. She probably had no idea how beautiful she was on a global scale.
Celebrities and models are women who wanted to use their beauty to gain celebrity. But the vast majority of beautiful people are happy to lead an ordinary life far from the limelight. You shouldn't have been surprised to see her in a small village.
I read your comment, and I thought about it.. Let me enlighten you. Model scouts, photographers, and people who "know people" travel all the time. They actively seek the most exotic women. One example is Sharbat Gula whom they found in AFGHANISTAN. She had exotic eyes and immediately became known. My point is, you will NEVER see someone THAT HOT in real life who isn't famous. There's no doubt she was beautiful, but nowhere near top models. You would see that if she stood next to them. You were probs really horny.

lazy people underestimate the impact they can generate on their outer appearance. especially as a man, you can go from ugly to almost-model by attaining an athletic physique, optimize your hygiene and hair management, fix your posture and behavior and clothing yourself stylish enough that fits your type. ofc this takes a lot of time and effort. too much for lazy people.
That’s true, everyone can do that, all you need is be consistent with your gym, lift heavy, less cardio, more recovery time, go to bed on time and eat more clean food. Don’t please eat less food.
Come on, this also depends of genetics. If you have narrow shoulders, even working out will not make you look bigger than a guy with naturally broad shoulders.

Its unattainable if your genes aren’t the same. 1% or less of people are truly beautiful….that is both sexes. You cant be top if you’re not genetically blessed.
@@michellesimmons3150 no, not just one percent of the population has the genes to be super hot. That's complete BS, most people who never try, complain about genes. It's only unattainable if it can't be maintained year round or steroids had to be used to achieve it. But other than that, genetics is usually an excuse. Except when talking about calves
I think the "unattainable" aspect of it, actually has to do with it being unattainable. Where it's make-up and retouching and corrections and production. Well i think that beauty standards are mainly problem on Social medias, where mainly young people have tendecies to compare themselves with not only celebrities, but even with fitness influencers or influencers overall (which are many). There are much more people like that, which has 100k+ followers and captures only like 1% of their happy life on Instagram. This makes lot of people think, that they are always happy and their not, so they want to live like them, although 9/10 of them never can. I have good self awareness and when I used these medias, I never had that problem, it was only way of relax for me like 30 minutes per day maximum. Many people don’t realize that and cannot divide their for example Instagram life and real life.

i dont have sympathy for anyone especially not for myself and even more than that FAT PEOPLE! i was an obese kid throughout school until the last 2 years of highschool but i was shredded my last year and have stayed that way but here's why i dont have sympathy for anyone who's fat. When i was a kid in school i relied on my mum to make me food, take me places and things like that so i gained a lot of weight due to the terrible diet she had me on, i went to the doctors a bit as a kid like everyone does but i found out i have a thyroid issue which apparently effects weight gain and bla bla bla and then i also have scoliosis, bad knees, bad shoulders, asthma and tourrettes syndrome which used to be extremely bad. I was told all of this not in one session but over time in about 2 years from 11-12 so younger me finds out my bodies messed up and then in the same generation people are trying to advertise being fat as good and that its "healthy and okay to be overweight and a bit feminine as well" which to me sounded and still sounds so retarded i can barely comprehend it but at the time when i heard fat acceptance i was apart of it as my mum let me believe i was at a disadvantage to everyone else around me and i basically got the short end of the stick unfortunately but i found that all out to be bullshit when i started hating myself so much i needed to make a change. Being obese as a kid is one of the worst possible things you can have happen to you and also one of the best if you manage to get your shit together but the reason i say its the worst is because so many people stay fat and just accept it and try and live with it by distracting themselves with weed, food, liqure, vapes and anything which can make you feel good about yourself when you shouldn't and i used those things as well but thankfully after years and years of grinding by myself even without parents, learned to cook for myself, forced myself to exercise and i did all of this on my own without any guidance at all and learned as i went from trial and error. Here is the most crazy thing to me though, i found out after dieting and cutting things out that the more clear my head became through no longer having sugar all the time and eating right and working out my tourretes went away for good, my bad knees no longer exist, my shoulders are weak but way better than they were and i dont have asthma and i also have normal thyroid levels without even trying and all due to me just becoming healthy no matter what i heard, i could've just said "i have all these things against me and there's no way i can get there so i might as well just pack a bowl" but instead i decided to choose the harder rouite as it was the best for me and so when i see all these obese people trying to look happy it hurts me because i know they are lying and its up to us to say "NO you fat useless fuck, your NOT BEAUTIFUL because a whale on a beach is not beautiful its actually sad and depressing! Get in the gym and STOP CRYING LIKE A 2 YEAR OLD!"
congrats i have a similar mentality though I'd recommend trying sympathy out a bit for awhile and see how it feels. you may hold all the same views but it's healthy to feel sad for those in shitty circumstances even if those are 100% self-inflicted. it's like your buddy going back to a girl that cheated on him, you know what's gonna happen and it's 100% his fault but you're still sad when he gets his heart broken again. doesn't mean you can't tell him he's an idiot or you treat him any differently, its just how you handle the internal consideration of these people, it changes from one of ego and comparison to one of understanding.
@@TheInfectous no of course i will feel empathy for the friend as I've had that happen but I'm not going to give or show sympathy towards him though but instead tell him what he needs to do to get his head straight and try my best to help him out. Unrealistic beauty standards is when plastic surgery is involved and a lot of those celebrities don't want to admit that they received plastic surgery because being "natural" is "better". The butt lifts, tummy tucks, breast augmentations......that's the unrealistic beauty standard
You could be a handsome man like Hugh Jackman, but to go into the role of Wolverine, he still needed to work his ass off in the gym and eat until he puked. He had to look like the actual character. He never complained.
he got paid, uh, handsomely. You won't get a raise just looking good flipping burgers. The best you can do is learn to double flip the burger and "be all you can be" in the kitchen.

I'm pretty sure that's what most people are talking about.... That and plastic surgery. Women are rarely very thin with big breasts, but the amount of women (I personally know several that have had it done) that have breast augmentation make it seem like this is the norm. Usually when you lose weight your boobs are the first to go.
In North America, anything "Euro" to do with style usually implies it's tighter fitting. Baggy jeans were kinda the look here in the 90s & 00s in Bill's prime "about town" years, so anything tight like that is something to make fun of from his perspective.
as a dude whose dad LOVED fly fishing. the trick is the full rubber suits that go from the souls of your feet and end as "overalls" would. They walked around naked UNTIL WE GAVE THEM FREE CLOTHES! Just look at a national geographic magazine pre 1980...
Also, I'm all for beautiful people especially if they promote health and commitment, but whenever I hear "unrealistic beauty standards" I think of crazy plastic surgeries, Instagram filters, and photoshop. That's the stuff that fucks with your brain and distorts reality. One of my biggest missions in life, when I have a daughter, is to teach her that beauty is not everything and also to teach her to not measure her worth by her beauty. My family is very shallow and it's taken me many years to appreciate beautify and to no envy it in a negative way.
Yes, that's what I think of unrealistic beauty standards... that or they have extreme diets to the point it's anorexia. The past 10 years or so there's been more and more healthy beautiful fit role models for women like the Tone it Up women- Karina and Katrina... or some youtube fitness influencers like Whitney Simmons or Nikki Blacketter. Where they show working out and eating properly is beautiful and inner happiness is beautiful. That to me is an attainable healthy beauty standard.

The beauty standards are not unattainable as such. They can be attained by those work on it like their livelihood depends on it and have an awesome photographer with a Bunch of photoshop artist and make up team to create it. But a regular joe working 12 hrs daily on a different job for his livelihood will obviously feel it as unattainable. Cause their livelihood needs their energy, discipline and focus.
The problem is that not everyone is able to attain that "10" so to speak. What society deems attractive . But you can get in the best shape for YOUR body. And that's what you should aim for. Wether you're a slim or bigger. You can still be fit. Some will be attracted some won't
"Stop complaining about the unattainable beauty standard and go to the gym." "If you have an eating disorder I get that but drink some fuckin smoothies." These guys are missing the point totally, especially Bill. The "beauty standard" isn't referring to the famous actors with abs, its referring to the intense amount of pre, during and post production that curates an image that bears no flaws whatsoever - done on actors/models that already have their lives dedicated to their image (believe it or not, not everyone can prioritise their beauty amongst their careers), even just the sheer amount of work put into these images is unattainable to the average person. The sheer volume of these seemingly real but unreal ideals across many media forms accumulate for years in the minds of children, teenagers and adults, People aren't being self-important when they demand change in the media - because the media is a public platform that impacts everyone. It's the same reason why some countries have regulations around how smoking/drinking can be portrayed in film. Go ask any teenage girl - even the ones without ED's will probably tell you how at some point they've employed unhealthy tactics to change themselves. But these guys seem to be more concerned about "the hundred million dollars as stake if this actor doesn't lose 20 pounds"... yeah right. Not one good point was made in this video, plenty of good jokes tho lol
but people have also to learn to not be fucking retarded. Otherwise we as 'consumers' would believe anything that would be said in ads (the percentage is too high even right now), removing the plain obvious sign on which is written "ads are fake and BS" would probably higher that percentage. if I watch a movie about superheros, obviously they have to look like super humans and not some realistic gym guy. And that is only possible by faking stuff - surprising I know but the actors aren't even real superheros. I stand for banning ads that promote anorexia in fashion or when the product is in direct context to the look (protein shake but using a modell on steriods etc). But for the big stuff like normal ads for big brands (fashion, odors etc) and hollywood it is ridiculous to ban something like that and that is what they talked about in the video. the general problem is more social media and parents disconnected from their kids with no parenting lessons or control (imagine what the babies now have to deal with with parents that have never learned it themself)

One unattainable standard that can’t be attained no matter how much a normie diets and exercises is height. I’m 5’0” and even when I weighed 95#, my short torso/legs/etc. was never going to look like any model/actress I grew up watching. Not to mention growing up Asian in the 80s/90s, but at least that has changed a bit. When I get down on myself about my looks, I remind myself, that’s not my job; I’m not a model or an actress, I don’t need to put that pressure on myself. They touch on the point that men don’t compare themselves the same way women do. Hopefully with more body positivity and less judging within our own sex, this too can change for women.
Maximize the traits you have, hit the gym and be a dwarf warrior from LOTR. It won't fix your height, but you will feel and be better. Plus if it boosts your self confidence it will boost your quality of life
It matters. I had a buddy who was that guy. Girls used to approach us offering drinks/beers when we were living the dream as 20-somethings in Scottsdale back in the early 2000s. Never a shortage of womem at our house. He also had a helluva career for a guy his age. Never a shortage of female bosses that wanted to give him an opportunity and a decent salary. And every time we flew to Vegas...flight attendants would ask where we were headed later. It's a two-way street. Oddly enough, more than a few of us thought he might be gay. He wasn't. He just got tired of how easy it was. He's the model chick or exotic dancer that thinks men...are pitiful and desperate. He got the same feels about women.
The funniest thing about unattainable body standards is that they always show someone who obtained it. This is a self defeating argument. "No one can look like this" then they show someone who looks like this.
Right, but they're attainable only if your 40+hr/wk job is to look good or you hit the genetic lottery. Like, flying is attainable--by birds, insects, and aircraft. So good luck with your side of the argument
@@kilgoretrout321 you'd have a point for people with very specific limiting lifestyles but a couple of things: 1) 40 hour work weeks aren't that much work or limiting. It depends on the hours and how you use them but overall 40 hours isn't very much. You could literally dedicate another 40 hours to another goal while working 40 hours at your main job and still have time for basic family tasks assuming the family is mentally healthy and supportive of each other. It's even easier alone and there's plenty of time to feed yourself. If it's a fitness goal some of the 40 hours would be dedicated to cooking because 40 hours a week of weights might actually kill you. Though things like biking and swimming could be sustained for a full time job it's still too much with diminishing returns, but considering that scheduling a lethal amount of excercise is technically possible within the parameters a much more sustainable amount shouldn't be too hard. 2) are we thinking about the same "unattainable" body. This is a big one because some features are a matter of genetics while the basic stats like height to weight ratio and leanness are just diet based. Are we thinking about the same degree of these stats? And are we talking about legitimately having this extreme level or faking it well enough for a magazine cover? Is it maintained long term or a fitness appearence goal acheived for a short while then abandoned in favor of health? 3) what starting point are we considering. At some point outside intervention and aid becomes a must. Nobody is saying you have to do it alone and some people can't get it alone. But i think every man of my height with all his limbs can be 175 and 10% bodyfat no matter the circumstances within 5 years and i don't think this requires anything too insane. I'm not there but i haven't spent the last 5 years trying. I choose this stat because i saw a magazine cover with a dude this size on it. I agree with Joe on this subject I will counter with this: Joe said they would want the actress to lose weight so the product can be better. You have a better product more people come to see your film. Could the actress that loses 15 lb only make the product better because the previous 20 actresses also lost the 15 lb hence making that the standard of beauty.
Yeah, he totally transformed his body to star in Batman Begins, especially considering he had just done The Machinist immediately prior. That was the example that jumped to my mind when they started talking about women complaining about having to change their bodies to star in a particular role. Like, that’s part of the job. It’s inherent in being an actor that you have to maintain your body and be right for the role. It’d be like if someone being hired to be an accountant complained that they had to learn accounting to do the job. “What? You’re telling me I have to change my brain to suit YOUR impossible standards?! You should accept me the way I am!”
Basicly in acting you are freaking meant to be that. Rene Zelveger, Christian Bale and a pleathora of actors get morbid obese or anorexic skinny because they are freaking actors. It's like with Kurt Russel in the "Solider". He was out of shape and pretty aged at the moment. He asked for a year and he got to the shape he had when he was playing "Snake Plisken" in Escapes
Another notable transformation was Charlize Theron in Monster. Yes it was the other way but no doubt not easy and she had to live her life like that as well as lose it again

How can an actress be mad about having to lose 15 pounds. Like I’d happily drop some pounds if it meant getting to star in a movie and make a shitton of money.
They aren't. Literally everything they say to media is planned. Losing weight is the LEAST of their actual problems. Media targeted at women abuse these notions to keep spiking their audience's amygdalas and keep them interested/panicked.
Dr.'sorders you’re a little bitch lmao walk a day in a woman’s shoes, most of you pussies wouldn’t even survive lol especially in show business dumb fuck
Because actresses are usually already at the lowest weight they should be. Cameras really do make you look heavier than you are, so to appear super trim, you usually have to stay a little underweight. And when your at your lowest weight, losing 15 lbs is not easy. Plus It’s psychologically tough to be constantly malnourished and stressed. That’s why actresses usually drink so much green juice because they have to get in nutrition with little macros.
Most modern humans lack gratitude and are very pampered, men and women. On top of the fact that we live in a gynocentric society heightening narcissism and solipsism amongst women with a deeply materialist mindset so women not only expect to get everything that they want but also are easily bitter, jealous and lazy. They don't want to work and that laziness is so present within their psyche that being required to work in any way seems genuinely offensive, even if they're just asked to shed a few pounds.
Bill Burr is right about Swedes. Even in the remotest fish selling hut in the middle of nowhere are the most gorgeous people. But if you turn on the tv all their chubbies are working there in front of the camera. We noticed that, too. 😂
The immigration policy in place for last 20-30 years has completely transformed the culture and demographics of an almost perfect society for the worse. Sweden is a tragic tale that not only the citizens recognize, but it's government has openly acknowledged the mistakes they made.
They didn't even mention Christian Bale's absolute metamorphosis for all of his movies and the madness he put his body through for all the different physiques he played.

How can it be “unobtainable” if someone already looks like that 😂 it’s possible that’s why you see it, even if it’s going to the gym and using some photoshops like the people in the magazines do. with some work and good lighting, every one can do it
I think the point of "unattainable" is being missed here. It's not that having a body like Jason Momoa or a VS supermodel is, strictly speaking, totally unattainable. It is that these people, on account of their profession, have time to workout several times a day (Jason Momoa was often working out three times a day for Aquaman), afford personal chef's or have the studio pay for them, hands on personal trainers who are with them every day, etc. When that is set as what is considered beautiful for both men and women, it's simply not realistic for the average person to achieve because they do not have the resources (time, money, coaching, accessibility) to do so. Now, this isn't a problem for mature people who understand what's realistic, but when that's being fed on social media to young people, being influenced consistently by this standard of beauty and the disconnect they see in the mirror leads to symptoms like depression or eating disorders. And that's not even to mention a lot of the pictures we see on social media have been photoshopped. Now THAT is indeed unattainable.
Its like when you see those blokes on instagram and whatnot who are yelling at you that you need to do X amount of sets and you have to go to failure and not be able to walk the next day. Its like yeah thats probably effective but i dont get paid to go to the gym like you. I gotta be on my feet all day the next day. But i dont go bitching about how they are unattainable just because i cant do it
Except when pro athletes do doping they are banned. When models get photoshoped it just gets printed. Besides, sports celebrates "the best", when I watch a downhill skiing competition the commentator doesn't remind me that I too should strive to ride at 100mph. OTOH, a glossy magazine will absolutely try to convince me that this photoshoped, anorexic model is how I'm supposed to look as well.
@@TobaAdesanya No it doesn't it's trying to sell you sth by convincing you that "you too could be beautiful with XYZ". That inherently implies you're missing sth.
@@TobaAdesanya I get that, but its been proven time and time again that many (particularly teenage girls) develop severe self-esteem problems from being bombarded by these messages in the media and advertising. Problem with beauty standard is the photo shopping. You can't fix stupid, but MOST people would not have a problem with pure beauty if they didn't modify these super models into even more beautiful... so, that is where I stand. If they Photoshop, they should have an asterict noting that it was modified. That would hopefully relax peoples judgement and know what is real and not real and hopefully encourage REAL people, unaltered on the covers.
Erin I would even throw time and effort ie makeup and beauty work in there with the problem. Any girl can make themselves look great with enough time on their hands. That’s the problem. Girls try to make themselves pretty instead of being the natural beautiful human being that we all are.
You are right but it is not people like you, people who take time to think, to understand. It is people like us mixed with people who just have nothing better to do and they are not even the 100% part of the problem surprisingly... it is them, us and the people who let get offended, moved enough to make change but hey what can I say? We have been all of them at times in our lives. See, it just moves...
>most people would not have a problem with pure beauty if they didnt modify these super models yeah bro sure. just fucking uglies who cant accept that they have to work harder than the top 1% of elite human. fuckoff
Or, maybe, just maybe, people should quit comparing themselves to others all the time and overcome their despicable envy for once. Those who seriously think some models are somehow supposed to represent the average person can't be very smart, either (all the while modifying their own damn photos on facebook to look perfect).

God damn i want to see what she looks like
Celebrities and models are women who wanted to use their beauty to gain celebrity.

There is no such thing as true love, we are incapable of real monogamy, evidence suggests. Look at the divorce rates and women say they are never pleased by a man, while men have their own problems too.
We are organisms that always strive to pick the best mate, we are programmed to cheat, not everyone does but it is almost impossible to really love someone for who they are, because we don’t think with logic, we think with emotion then justify that with logic
We are animals at the end of the day, and our monkey brain drives us to pick first and foremost the physically best looking person possible, not personality. We are all shallow creatures every single one of us, there is no denying it.
@@You-xs1px Many people are capable of monogamy. Look all around the world throughout time. It is natural for humans to be sexually attracted to others, but with some strength, we can deal with it. I have good self awareness and when I used these medias, I never had that problem, it was only way of relax for me like 30 minutes per day maximum. i dont have sympathy for anyone especially not for myself and even more than that FAT PEOPLE! i was an obese kid throughout school until the last 2 years of highschool but i was shredded my last year and have stayed that way but here's why i dont have sympathy for anyone who's fat.

"European pants" are those that are tight fitting - much like your smedium shirts.
Pants are outdated underwear to us.

In North America, anything "Euro" to do with style usually implies it's tighter fitting. Baggy jeans were kinda the look here in the 90s & 00s in Bill's prime "about town" years, so anything tight like that is something to make fun of from his perspective.

Cause their livelihood needs their energy, discipline and focus.
i dont think anybody cant give up at least an hour for the gym
The problem is that not everyone is able to attain that "10" so to speak. What society deems attractive . But you can get in the best shape for YOUR body. And that's what you should aim for. Wether you're a slim or bigger. You can still be fit. Some will be attracted some won't
"Stop complaining about the unattainable beauty standard and go to the gym."
"If you have an eating disorder I get that but drink some fuckin smoothies."
These guys are missing the point totally, especially Bill. The sheer volume of these seemingly real but unreal ideals across many media forms accumulate for years in the minds of children, teenagers and adults,
People aren't being self-important when they demand change in the media - because the media is a public platform that impacts everyone.

@@kilgoretrout321 you'd have a point for people with very specific limiting lifestyles but a couple of things:
1) 40 hour work weeks aren't that much work or limiting.
He looked good in the picture but that was probably just him peaking for that day.
@@kilgoretrout321 the limiting lifestyles i refer to are disability not children. Don't blame your kids. Their desires are your desires. Bring them along with your fitness goal. It's just play to them.

Look at what christian bale has done for roles.
@@Shadow-lq7rx Compare him in The Machinist to The Dark Knight.
“What? Basicly in acting you are freaking meant to be that. Rene Zelveger, Christian Bale and a pleathora of actors get morbid obese or anorexic skinny because they are freaking actors.

They don't want to work and that laziness is so present within their psyche that being required to work in any way seems genuinely offensive, even if they're just asked to shed a few pounds.

Lots of women have gotten on magazine covers without doing a single sit-up. When you see the male model's six pack abs, every man understands how much work that takes.
Six packs are mostly a result of a low body fat and good genes, which is exactly the same as the female magazine models physiques.

@@tapwater424 My basic point is that among male and female models, more work is done to attain (and maintain) by the male. Of course, this is on average, but it's still a fact. Exactly.

If they Photoshop, they should have an asterict noting that it was modified. You are right but it is not people like you, people who take time to think, to understand. Considering the average height of men in the netherlands is aprox 6ft 1 and im actually 6 ft 3 (like you claim to be) and have been to the netherlands and was still noticably taller than most people there. I suspect youve either never been there or you are no where near as tall as you think you are.
