My mom had a ford that literally was falling apart on her. So I'm not surprised they're going bust.
Speaking of Honda Element isn't that the box with wheels. One of the most ugliest vehicles ever made. It's almost as ugly as that Elon Musk truck
Leave it to Joe to bail them out!😂🤦♂️

Great idea! Shoutout to @larsvonretriever to make it happen.
Wow I picked up on that, Scotty is usually a bigtime Ford guy when it comes to trucks.

Toyota should really bring the FJ Cruiser back in some form, especially with the Defender and Bronco. It would be good to have a reliable competitor!
Land cruiser
Toyota probably removed so ford can sell the bronco
It's still on sale in Africa and the Middle East
They would be $55-60k if they made them nowadays, sadly.
The old FJ is still competition for the new Bronco and defender
I purchased my second FJ Cruiser this spring. It is 2008 with 45,000 miles and was garage kept by the original owner. Last month I sold my original 2007 FJ Cruiser that I had logged in over 225,000 miles on it with no problems. An FJ will take you anywhere you dare to go and bring back home safely. Been all over the country off roading and camping, the FJ is a beast.
The value of FJ Cruisers probably increased even more now that Scotty has given it his stamp of approval.
No doubt. Toyota Celica, Toyota FJ Cruiser...who would Scotty rank #3, #4 and #5.
Glad I bought mine a month ago
Glad I have one in pristine condition with lower miles. 2012 and have 114k on the odometer. Looks like new.
fortunately i can't even afford it, I just like to see them driving around like Jeep wangler
@@iyot1020 I have a 2010 trail team edition that sits in my garage and I've been wanting another FJ. I'm trying to stack up on them while I can but maybe I waited to long to pull the trigger....lol
Wish Toyota would bring them back. I would take one of those over a modern Jeep anytime.
Yeah older jeeps were good but Toyota is king in every department basically Hyundai should make a kind of jeep too
I had a M 511 A2 Jeep for two years in Germany
They are still being made for the Asian market.
Considering one if their popular markets now is off roading, I wouldn't be surprised if their drawing up plans.
Toyota still sells the fj in the Middle East.
You just made my day! Thank you.
I recently retired and actively sought out another FJ Cruiser. Had one brand new in 2013 for 3 years and foolishly sold it with 40k on it for $6k more than I paid. I regretted it the very next day and every day after that.
Now, 7 years later, I paid $41k for a one owner loaded 2013 FJ with 39k miles and again, I am insanely happy. I will drive this until the day I die. I love it that much.
Also, I am shocked just how many previous FJ owners are just like me and actively seek out another FJ to replace one they foolishly sold. What you save in repairs alone, versus other cars, more than makes up for the modest fuel economy. Worth every penny!
Scotty tells the TRUTH! These things just ROCK!
We just bought a 2007 with 210,000 miles. drives like a dream! We are so excited and can’t wait to have fun in this thing 🎉😊
How much
Toyota better have a golden statue of Scotty at the center of their headquarters
Ask any FJ owner, we'll tell you the same things.
toyota has a bunch of scotty statues in japan i havent heard about or seen a golden one
🤣🤣🤣 Just like all the Colonel Sanders statues in front of the KFC restaurants in Japan.
And all the non Japanese manufacturers have his pic on their dart boards.
Plus one of these; " 🐱🐉 🐱🏍 " !
I want one of these so bad. I can't believe the dude got it for that price!
$16k is a steal
Same here. I'm glad Scotty bought one. And also, I love that 1GR-FE's clutch fan sound when you start it up.
@@brianlee7738 sounds like Tacoma, same engine?
$16K for a 10 year old car with 75k miles is not cheap. I can get an Explorer, Murano, or Equinox for half that price. For $16K, it better be at least a BMW X3 or Audi Q5 or Range Rover.
@@lordmaster5522 you'd pay the times that price to fix any of the other vehicles
My 07 FJ has been my daily driver since 2014! I love it!
Is the fuel cost a problem and is there any issues you faced while daily driving it
@@konstantinkonstantinovich1352 i do its 2014 fj had it since it came out daily till this day and nah man no problems so far
l can tell you they perform off road very well also,
A wild Mustie appears.
Indeed! My girlfriend has a '14 FJ with a 6 speed manual, and we took it up to VT a couple of months back. Went on an offroad trail that no unibody suv would ever dream of tackling, scraped the skid plate lightly one, maybe two times. Wouldn't have even put it in 4lo if we didn't have a clutch to worry about.
Mustie1, I'm a huge fan of your channel. I haven't paid the local lawnmower shop a dime since I started watching a few years ago.
An XJ does better.
I just sold my 07 FJ to my son. He is babying that thing more than I did.....and I really babied it.
@@Lray4x4 an xj sets the bar really high though. There's no shame at all in falling just short of its off-road capabilities.

Bout to go pick up an 07 4wd auto tomorrow
Mine is the same with 263,517KM on it and still running great.
I always wanted an FJ. Cruiser. They’re very nice. Just Pricey, kind of hard to find and poor gas mileage. Especially now with Gas prices going up.
@keith mason - Could be time for a deal 👌
@keith mason nope, nobody wants to get it rid of it lol
They were just crap! You want a good reliable vehicle....Buy a Jeep! The KING of off.road.
Yes...those 4.0 L engines like their gas. The 3.5 L is much better.
@@georgea2334 Lmao king off road yes. Reliability Never!!! I can source 100 sources showing you that Jeeps are way below industry average in reliability. They are pure 🗑 😁
I bought an FJ Cruiser a year-and-a-half ago. Because of your last video somebody had sent into you. Talking about how awesome the FJ Cruiser is. I bought one for $14,000 with 118.000 miles on it and I've been happy ever since . This rig is an adventure machine you can take it anywhere. It just keeps going.
How is it going and are you selling it?
Yea how is the vehicle now and issues with the two years?
I came here because I saw a 2009 with 162000 miles on it, I was wondering if this worth buying lol
Loved my 2010 Trd Fj until some sleepy crashed in and totaled it in my driveway. Geico gave me 15 k for it with 300k miles on it...still broke my heart.
I just recently bought a 2010 Trails Teams edition ( Fully loaded with every available option ) This is an absolute dream car. It's a perfect daily driver and by far the most capable offroad machine I've ever seen.
FJ, a toyota so good that they had to stop making it, no residual income.
I've got an '07 FJ with 280K. It is the only vehicle I've owned that if it broke down, it would shock me, and I would be sad in the same way I imagine a person would be who was in perfect health and found themselves in the hospital for a very unusual reason at the age of 80 after never having gone to the hospital. It's a rare vehicle in the sense that it instills a great deal of confidence.
When it breaks pay the money to fix it. It will be worth it
@@FastSloW-qt8xf I damn sure will.
Certainly can't say that about a jeep.
277k on mine, I’ve been debating selling mostly because I’ve never owned a vehicle with that many miles on it. Guess I’ll continue the adventure.
2007 with 289k here! The trust is so high with me, I would drive it to the other coast tomorrow.
I love my 2013 FJ, it can do just about everything I need after adding an extra 500+ pounds of armor, bigger tires, and an rtt. I’m glad my dad bought one just in time as an extra ‘collectors item’ before they became ridiculously expensive after production stopped. We’re def going to keep his stock😊
I got a 2013 in my sight for 32000 euro here in holland. They are imported, love to be in usa now and go shopping for a good deal.
As an 07 FJ owner this brought me so much joy
Here in Saudi Arabia it's a legend.. you can still get them new over here.
They are everywhere..
My uncle had a 2007 and supercharged it for sand offroading here in the desert.. what a monster.
It got into an accident and the supercharger is gone, but still running well till this day.
You will see these everywhere in Saudi Arabia, fortunately Toyota still makes them for the Middle East.
They still make them here in the Philippines.

You're the king. I bow down to you Scotty
Yours is awesome though!
My sister got this car new when it came out bc shes short and small af so she wanted the most tank thing out there. I hated it at first but fell in love with it. Its like a truck that drives/handles better than a truck, but an suv that feels like a tank. Perfect medium.
Dammit Scotty I wanted to get one within a year now the prices are going to definitely go up higher
Me too
Will they go higher if the price of gas doubles?
@@stephenarling1667 yup
Yep better get one soon.
I still have my 07 that I bought new in 08. Runs great and just about ready to turn 100k miles. During the pandemic I upgraded a few things, which really increased my enjoyment of vehicle. I upgraded the headlights with LED bulbs; swapped the CD/radio for a touch screen receiver with CarPlay, rearview camera, and mic for hands free communications; and swapped the OEM sway bars for bigger aftermarket sway bars. The bulbs and receiver really bring a modern touch and convenience to the FJ, and the sway bars noticeably improved handling in turns and stability at highway speeds. The receiver had a kit that allows me to use the controls on the steering wheel to control the receiver. It may not crawl over rocks quite as well with the new sway bars, but I'm not rock crawling. Definitely the best new car value I ever had, even with the poor gas mileage.
What’s the touch screen receiver called
@@okydokygaming4066 Mine is a Kenwood, but all of the car stereo manufactures make one that will work. It is a standard double DIN size. My only complaint about the Kenwood is that the screen could be brighter for very sunny conditions, but otherwise I'm happy.
I like that car. One day I will have it. Nice to see yours is cared for.
what brand of swaybar did you install?
I have one. I just happened to be having my oil changed under the warranty at my Toyota Dealership when it arrived. Even though I don't drive it often due to my riding in my work truck, it is one of my favorite vehicles I've owned, & I'm 63.
I was looking to buy a FJ and they were so highly priced I went with a Lexus GX470 for under 10 grand. Passed Scotty's used car tests just fine. Sure I did the Timing Belt and water pump kit when I bought it last year and radiator this year. Its Awesome and not costing me $600 a month like something new would. New cars keep most people broke and out of buying property.
My mechanic seems to really like the GX470. Says I should get one.

I’ve had three offers on mine, but I’ll drive it until the wheels come off. It is an amazing vehicle and easy to work on.
I literally have been looking at FJ’s all week... now I see this. Prices about to go up 😂
A past coworker of mine had one. His biggest complaint was that he had to keep replacing the windshield. Due to its fairly steep angle, rocks don't glance off of it the way they might on most vehicles-instead, the windshield takes most of the impact and cracks. Then again, on any jeep-like vehicle, this is to be expected.
Why not put protective film on the windshield?
Mine definitely eats rocks too. I had a chip in mine within hours of having it replaced. The glue wasn't even dry yet.
@@Jd-ip7ql Every FJ Cruiser owner that have spoken to has this complaint .

Id be pissed if i had any issues before 150-200k miles. At 85k shes brand new

Scotty, 2 Things: 1) Toyota does still make & sell them new to some countries such as Japan & Emirates (so parts should be around for a while) & 2) The one thing to look out for on 2007 & 2008 is the infamous front shock tower cracking. Other than poor vision when actually using off-road, I loved mine dearly!
And the 2007-2009 models had an 8” rear differential that was prone to breaking ring and pinion gear teeth under heavy loads. This was correct in the 2010 and later models with the much heavier duty 8.2” diff with larger gears.
Like these weren’t expensive enough on the used market. I was sad when Toyota discontinued it. Wanted one for years just never able to afford one.
Hopefully they bring it back to complete with the bronco. There’s rumors but can’t say for sure.

I bought mine a few years ago and it has become my favorite vehicle of all time It kept me sane during the pandemic by allowing me to go anywhere I pleased.
I love mine! Best 4WD vehicle I’ve ever owned. I have the 2008 and it still only has about 89,0000 miles on it. The only major $$$ that I’ve spent on it so far is new brakes. Runs like a dream. One time, when I went to my local car parts store, the owner told me that if everyone in town owned one, he would be out of business.
I bought the last white showroom model in Australia, 2016 model, last for Australia. Man, it's still so much fun to drive, and the fuel consumption is about the same as the Rav4 I traded in. Heaps of power and not really thirsty at all. Daily driver. Cheers from Oz!

Just bought a cruiser exactly like that one for 8k 170k miles, luckily im a knowledgeable car saleswoman that was in need of a car and my dealership had one available. they did me a favor & gave it to me for the same price they bought it for but to better not sell it. Got one of these a 2007 with 123,000 miles on it for about 20k. Was in the rust belt but the undercarriage looked very well maintained just surface rust. Really fun off roading and don’t mind it on road. Feels great!! It also came with a Sony after market radio with apple CarPlay.
I have a silver 2007 FJ, still looks and drives like brand new. I was surprised at how well it takes corners and the road manners it has compared to a Jeep. Just put some black trd wheels on it with ridge grapplers to make it look even better!
Thats because it has independent wheels, it won’t compete with a Jeep offroad. Seen them try lol
Really enjoyed this video. I got my 2010 FJ about a year ago. Paid $26k but it had only 44k miles on it. I'm sure the dealer didn't know this was a 'cult' car... something I could have cared less about, as he seemed to be glad to get rid of it. Probably went by bluebook. Anyway, I get 19 hwy/town combo, but stick to the limit while driving. To me it has amazing bump handling. If any of our other cars go over a pot hole, they almost leave the road. Not the FJ. It shakess a little but stays planted. I've had several offers for it, but plan to keep it forever as a 'gentleman's' off roader. It was an almost impulse purchase, but one of the few I've never regretted.
FJ Cruisers are still reliable vehicles
Just like the land cruiser, they're both very reliable, despite the gas mileage
For me at least, it's more financially responsible to pay for gasoline for my FJ... than have car paiements, to save a few MPG
@@remocres Agree. Unless I could buy something like a Suzuki Jimny or a Iveco Daily... I have no interest in trading it.
I'm a 3rd gen 4Runner freak. I always tell people that the worst thing about owning a Toyota is purchase price after that it's all good. You don't buy 4x4 Toyota for gas mileage or speed you buy because Everytime you turn the key they start drop it in gear and they go.
Trying to find a 6speed yellow FJ . Keep finding silver ones.
I’ve got a 2013 with 87k on it and it’s my dream vehicle! I couldn’t tell you how many people have asked me if I want to sell it! I could sell it for what I paid for it in 2015! Talk about 4 wheel drive! This thing is a serious off roader! It’s never given me a problem. Uber reliable!
Scotty…I still have my 2007 Voodoo Blue FJ that I bought in 2009 with 24,000 miles with everything but the inclinometer, including the TRD exhaust for $19,600 at a FORD dealership…lol! Still runs like a top! Best vehicle I’ve ever owned.
I'm so happy with mine🤟totally a keeper
I absolutely love mine. Nothing but routine maintenance and it's been the best vehicle I've ever owned 😄👍
I've had one for almost two years now, after wanting one when they first came out, not a single regret. I'm lucky to have purchased it within months of the prices skyrocketing.
I got mine in November. Took me 6 months to get one. I looked at 3 before getting mine and got out bid or someone snatched it up first. I offered one guy more than he was asking but someone offered even more (2012, 6 speed manual with 12,500 miles). I absolutely love my FJ. I plan on having it as long as possible. 2012 with 70k miles.
I’ve been waiting for this video for years!
I seriously looked at getting a new one back in the day, but could justify the cost and poor mileage at the time, (had a long commute...) But they sure are cool, great looking, capable vehicles.
We love ours. It's my wife's day-to-day. 4-wheel drive works great in winter; the only time we've needed it. Purchased it in 2010 at 2 years old. School bus yellow so you can find it in any parking lot LOL
Man I love these cars. They look a little silly, but if you get a trails teams edition it's a huge difference. I had a 2010 and used it for off-roading all the time. Thing was great at pulling out bigger trucks when they got stuck as well! Every time I see a trail teams, part of me wishes I never sold mine.
Why you sold it?
@@boxoffisa I started making a lot of long distance trips 10-12hrs each way as my now wife and I lived apart due to work at the time. @@snortingmydeaddad if it weren't for my kids I would, they take all the monies. 🤣🤔😭
@@stopdalies well kids are more important, but barely 😅

I’ve been interested in these since I was a kid
I have this exact car! Same color, 2007, and its only got 102K miles on it. I love it. Its a work of art. I could just stare at it all day. One day I might do an electric conversion and just cruise around town with it.
This video helped convince me to send it get one. getting a low miles one from 2012 out in SC. I am beyond excited
So, Scotty's high, having fun & there's nothing wrong with his rearend. U R a hoot, Scotty! Nice truck ☆☆☆☆☆
He’s definitely amped up. But then, I’ve never seen him not amped up... 🤷♂️
@@mmpatriot2170 How true! I've never even seen him take a breath between words.
Wow, 16k @ 75,000 is a great buy! I put 140k on my 08’ FJ and got $1500 it 3 years ago.
Best gas mileage was 23 mpg. That said, my 19’ RAV adventure gets and average of 30 mpg and it’s way better in the SNOW even with my road Toyo tires. I live near Wolf Creek pass in SW CO. We know snow! The FJ was Squirrley in the snow!
Its all 30k now
Mine is terrific in snow. I would buy 10 FJ’s for $1500 each.
My 2012 FJ goes thru the snow just as good as my 2015 rubicon Got no complaints on my fj. Piad 32k brand new in 2012 and have only put money into oil changes and tires no repairs as of yet bought my rubicon in 15 because i had 50 k on the fj odometer i now have 57k on my fj and 47 k on my rubicon Both eat up the upper michigan snow i would sell my rubicon before i sell the fj…
Yes, before I got my FJ I had a 4Runner #3 that was OK in the snow but not as good as my FJ but then the ‘19 RAV4 is better than both of them.. and that’s with road tires,. I live near Wolf Creek Pass CO. Inches no, we measure our snow in feet. Last winter was like we only had 25 feet at Wolf Creek summer as opposed to in 2008 we got 44 feet of snow.
I just picked one up myself about 3 months ago. Love it. I don't even understand how they took these off production outside of the reasons you mentioned. That are amazing
I love all the old FJ's, 60, and 80 series as well. Just plane tough and cool.
I bought mine brand new in 2013, and have just a little over 50k miles on it. Its resale value is just a little less than what I paid for it. Pretty happy with the FJ all around.
That was a great deal. I love the look of the FJ too.
Love all your videos..Thank you .Love my Fjcruiser 2007..
Things that stood out to me on the fj
It’s a gas hog
Windshield cracks more than other windows do to that flat angle when anything hits them.
If you like to have the seat all the way back you’ll have a hard time seeing stop lights cause the roof sits so far forward.
It’s very reliable
There are vehicles better at off-roading but It gets the job done.
Love the rear doors for back seat passengers.
I have 2014 fj cruiser magma love 13.6 flat screen digital cluster lots of fun runs chapion looks gr8 from far away
i have the same bro
magma orange but blacked out rims and black fenders with bumpers
Afternoon Scotty! FJ is an awesome truck 🏁
afternoon!
South Africa is blessed. Toyota still sells the fj cruiser here in 2021. Can't wait to get one.
I'm strangely happy I am having trouble with my FJ and happened upon your channel😁
My friend rolled his when he had to make a move to avoid a massive accident. Totaled it out but he survived now hes in a Honda Pilot.
Yes, it is built like a Brick. But my FJ gets an average of over 20MPG. Last tank was 21.9 for a trip to the Mountains and back. Just have to keep it under 70. It is a great truck, and it rides nice on the road. (Better than my Lincoln MKX)
what year fj is it?
I have one, had it for 5 years and LOVE it. Will never get rid of it. Drove 4 hours to pick it up!
Got a 2007 FJ 180,000 still going great car, did the water pump even though it wasn’t bad yet at 175,000, all idler pulleys, and two wheel bearings at 140,000.
I witnessed a distracted driver slamming her car into the back of one of these which was at dead stop, she was going 40 mph. The Toyota didn't have a dent on it and her car was totaled.
Not a dent at 40 mph collision? Bee Ess. Because physics.
Yeah ok 👌
I had a '85 Toyota Xtra Cab Truck and got rear ended. This was back in '86, so don't recall the speed. I was sitting at a stop light on an off ramp and a lady smacked into me. We pulled away to get out of traffic and I could see her front grill mangled pretty good. She just took off in the opposite direction, probably had no insurance. My bumper just had a little smudge on it and pushed in maybe 1/4", not real noticeable at all. Steel wool buffed out the smudge. Of course this was back when a bumper was a bumper. Sadly I cannot say the same for the frame. It eventually rusted where the spring shackles welded to the frame. But I bet it's 22RE engine is still running somewhere.
Was it my FJ? Because a girl in a BMW was distracted while driving and slammed into me. Thankfully she just scratched my tow hitch but her front end was demolished.
Perhaps if the Toyota was at rest without brakes applied....a lot of energy dissipated moving the FJ....
Scotty, that looks like the 4runner V6 and yeah, that engine runs for ever.
Tacoma’s as well
Love these things . We get them in from time to time used car lot . I found the 3 wiper blade system pretty cool
Always loved them. My brother in-laws father brought one new back when they first came out. Only 2 things that really sucked about this vehicle are the huge blind spot on the rear pillars and the horrendous gas mileage. 13 mpg if I remember correctly.
19 highway
@@mr.m325 Wnen unmodified. I have had mine since November 2007. But prior to that, I was on the FJ Cruiser Trail Team from March 2006-November 2007. I've been driving them since day 1. I can't imagine driving anything else.
Yeah, mine gets 13 mpg on the highway, after a lift and a set of MT tires.
Never wanted one of these FJs, but the earlier FJs? Take my money.
I just bought my bright yellow FJ last night! It’s got 138,000 miles on it but it is beautiful on the inside and out. It looks like this is one vehicle that I will have for a long long time!
The enthusiasm is unreal. This guy picked the right profession, that’s for sure!
Nothing could make me sell my 2007 FJ Cruiser...210k miles and runs like the day I bought it 👍🏻 other cars have come and gone, not this one
haha was hating on my old 2008 FJ till I watched this Video, Thanks Scotty!
Love u Scotty, DON'T STOP, KEEP GOING!
Love my '08 bought new for road tripping to the Rockies back country. Perfect companion for my '77 FJ40 I use around the home place.
Anything that Toyota builds in Japan comes out totally reliable with hardly any major issues.
Had my fj since new(dec 06), 230k miles. Besides the usual maintenance, brakes, suspension, radiator, belts/pulleys(regular replacement parts imo at this high mileage). The worse part about the FJ is the rust, this thing does not hold up to rust that well(I'm in Massachusetts). Even though I wash it quite often and have undercoated it, rust beats this thing silly. Also, the brakes every time I do a brake job, calipers seize. Don't know why, but the pistons are always bad when taken off.
Overall great truck and going to drive it into the ground. yes, MPG is like 12-15 with a 3" lift and 33's, but who cares.
I am searching for a 2007 FJ in my country. Thank you for this on point honest review.
like the enthusiasm, beautiful truck, collectors item indeed
