People do not need to be carrying guns when they go out to a movie theater or to Walmart. I dont want to worry about going to these places and getting shot because someone is in a bad mood that day. I was on a whale watch with my family and a guy had a gun on the boat in the middle of the ocean. I don't want to know what would have happened if that guy had a couple screws loose.

It is amazing that everyone pontificating for gun control so often know nothing about firearms or our current firearm logs. They expect laws to be a magic answer, even while never explaining how and why criminals will obey ANY new laws when they ignore our current ones. They never consider that only those of us who obey the laws, even while disliking some of them, would relinquish our firearms if forced to by law. The end result will be to render those who obey the laws helpless victims to the most ruthless and violent among us.

If you do a volunteer buy back program a number of people will choose the money over the guns. The government could then melt those guns down and that would equate to there being less guns on the streets.
Then we can measure if the gun violence has gone down for that year. If the graph shows a decline in gun related deaths for the year of the voluntary buy back we will then issue a mandatory buy back program. Those who refuse to sell their guns will not have their guns taken away, but will be issued a fine 10x the value of the gun caught in possession. The proceeds will go towards those families who are suffering due to gun violence.

I don't know anyone who is "pro gun rights" who would choose to give up their gun. Literally, no one. This statement alone tells me you have very few people in your life who are pro gun. It's literally a culture to these people. I don't personally have one but people who do are just not going to give them up. It's been an inherit right since the birth of this country. There's also plenty of oppressed groups that actively partake in that right because they were denied it a century ago. Sorry, but Sunny has not been a middle class poc for quite sometime and I find her opinions out of touch sometimes. I certainly think other poc would have a differing opinion from her... in fact I have heard it.

It should also be noted that most of the guns the cartels use to massacre people in Mexico and Central America came from the US. Meaning the gun industry is also in large-part responsible for the immigration crisis. Let that sink in.
