- We hear that some people enjoy scary movies, and even go as far as to watch them on purpose. For them, I’d imagine that there’s little more disappointing than seeing one of their favourite films saddled with a rubbish video game tie-in. For this list, we’ve trawled the depths of gaming and movie history to find the very best spoopy films that have inspired the most horrible video games. They range from disappointing when compared to their cinematic counterparts to absolutely abhorrent in every conceivable way. What fun! Here are the 10 Worst Games Based on Good Horror Movies.

I remember you actually need to hunt for key cards to open locked doors in Jaws Unleashed. Key cards! Playing as a shark!
Yeah it doesn't make scence of how jaws a horror movie
Just a regular day in the office. Forgot my key card again Bruce, could ya get the door for me?
Evil Dead Hail to the King should've been on the list instead, it was far worse.
Oohhh so THAT'S why the cash cards in GTA are called Shark Cards?!
You guys have the Williams balls to put Evil Dead: Regeneration on here, OVER The Evil Dead game from 1984 & Evil Dead: Hail to the King?!
Even fistful of boomstick is worse.
I will not lie, as a kid I played the crap out of Jaws Unleashed, at the time I felt like the biggest bada$$ ever eating people and fighting Orcas
The fact that Aliens: Colonial Marines had terrible A.I., ALL because someone misspelled the word "teather" in the code, will always be funny.
It will, but it was a simple fix. The multiple patches vastly improved the game, to a point where it shouldn't even be on this list.
@@supersanic1254 it's an unofficial mod changing the code isn't it? If your game needs somebody in the community to fix it, it belongs on the list.
@@supersanic1254 a game that needs to be fixed post-launch shouldn't be given a second chance
That is really funny
@@supersanic1254 Lol, game released in a broken state. It should top the list, considering the potential it had.
Predator: Concrete Jungle was really cool, you had a lot of posibilities while aproaching/offing targets. Let's just forget about that awful alien level trown in there just because
Pro tip just in case: During the Xeno hunts in that game, use the combistick. You will not take acid damage when you do.
A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th for Nes are actually really good games once you know how to properly play them. With Nightmare on Elm Street, you just need to get used to the controls, and how all the dream warriors powers work, and with Friday the 13th, you need to explore and learn all the exact things you need to do. Harder games often get labelled as bad games, especially with retro games
You guys should do a top 10 best horror games based on horror movies next
Resident evil
I agree
@@somedude6867 resident evil was a game first, not a movie. The Thing would be a good game based on a good movie. Friday the 13th by Gun Media would also be on that list. Alien Isolation. Thats 3.
Can't wait for the new Evil Dead game.
Bruce Campbell coming back to play Ash Williams (basically Bruce playing Bruce) for a new co-op game.
I just hope it does at least something to finish the story that was left incomplete by the tv show.
Regarding Evil Dead, I feel like the 1984 game (for the BBC Micro, C64 and ZX Spectrum) should've been chosen instead. My goodness is that game abysmal.
Or even Hail to the King. Regeneration is far from a bad game
I second that, even for an early adapration, that game is exceptiobally crappy.
And the mess behind it's C64 launch, where it was printed as the B side of Cauldron (a budget title, far cheaper than a copy of Evil Dead) by mistake, deserves a special mention XD
I think it's a bit harsh putting Evil Dead Regeneration on here. It was a pretty fun game and had the humour of Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness.
It's weird how Regeneration was on the list, but not Hail to the King which was way worse????
@@greenpanda4001 Or that awful Evil Dead game from 1984 on PC.
I actually liked the Blair witch game. Extremely creepy atmosphere
I liked it until I started getting attacked by the stupid ground leaf monster thing
Ahh yeah I get that, the combat stuff in it was the main thing I didn’t like that much
@@lostcauseproductions8694 idk man it wasnt scary for me and i just got frustrated and deleted lol. But i did like the atmosphere and the sounds or the lack there of.
Me too. Worth it for the finale in the house. That part scared the shit out of me.
Jaws Unleashed was great and I'll fight you on this.
We believe that you're all tough. We believe you.
I'm not 😅
Even me?
Yepp!
@@PCGamesNostalgia thank you
I don't. Wankers.
Have to respectfully disagree about Jaws Unleashed. I really liked it. Only worth one playthrough, but it was a good and functional shark-sim.
9:43
Truly the most horrifying moment in the entire video!
Jaws was THE video game that taught me as a kid not to get too excited over a game until you play it for yourself.
I remember getting it at gamestop, and busting at the seems with excitement, just waiting to get home and enjoy it. Yeah. The enjoyment didnt last very long lmao
I found it great
I always loved the game. Until I got older and replayed it.
At least Maneater was pretty decent/good
I had fun with it personally
Blair witch came out in 1999. Jus sayin.
I actually enjoyed Predator Concrete Jungle. We need more Predator games.
Best predator game puts the PS4 on to shame
Great list. Evil Dead: hail to the King was WAY more though.
Thatcher flashbacks... I've never had those...
I just cracked with that Tatcher flashbacks line... I can only compare it with "please Bowser, put the lawyer down!"
I love you guys ♥
ign be like: where's alien isolation on this list?
Yeah ign was smokin something when they reviewed that one.
I loved playing Evil Dead: Regeneration and have played through it multiple times. I also enjoyed playing Land Of The Dead: Road To Fiddler's Green, I knew it wasn't perfect or great but I still had fun playing through it.
agreed
Road to fiddlers green was my shit yo
Evil Dead was a game from my childhood and despite it being the way it is, it will always hold a place in my heart. Plus sams snarky ass was pretty funny and some of ashes lines were just as good.
I find it weird that they chose that game for this list considering the fact that it is not the worst Evil Dead game.
@@bigkmoviesandgames Maybe the other two Evil Dead games were too easy of targets to them.
@@RoyStantz Yeah that's definitely possible.
If Saw the Game isn’t on here I will be surprised...
Edit: It was! I found the game HILARIOUS, the glitches, the terrible acting and laughable animations make it fun to play, but for the completely wrong reasons...
i watched (callme)kevin play that mess. ha
@@SpaceMissile Me too! Hilarious!
@@emilylock was very fun
I liked predator at the time. It was probably the 1st PS2 games I beat 100% but I was pretty young when I played it. And looking at it now I can see your point. Love you guys thanks for the shout out On the Resident Evil 7 stream
The sad fate Aliens Colonial marines could've easily been avoidied if someone didn't make a repeated typo involving AI tethering where instead of tethering they called it teethering. It wouldn't have magically fixed the game, but it would have made it milquetoast bland instead of baaaad.
I personally really like Evil Dead: Regeneration.
I’m just glad it wasn’t Fistful of Boomstick
Jaws Unleashed the most expensive game in my ps2 collection. Loved it too!
Is it the only game in your ps2 collection? You can get it CIB for less than 20 bucks.
I have fond (and scary) memories of Friday The 13th on NES. A side-scroller with an open map, that shifted to third person while in the cabins. And with Mr. X...I mean...Jason always on the prowl.
Great list! How about a best games based on a movie list?
I think we can all agree no one is "tougher" than the Triple Jump Boys!
This is random but I’ve always though Silent Hill has a lot in common with a short story called I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream.
I agree actually now thinking about it. You ever play the point and click based on it? GOG have it for sale. Highly recommended it mate.
Great shout!
I love horror, I feel this list is made for me. Thx guys!
Evil Dead Regenration was fun. Hail to the King meanwhile was one of the worst games ever
Genuinely though I think a properly good horror game packaged in a plain black box with a makeshift-looking label could be VERY effectively creepy, with the right tone and pitch.
Blair Witch got nominated for Xbox game of the year? What is scary about that is how bad that year must have been for Xbox games if it got nominated in the first place.
I'm only disappointed that the PS2 & PC game adaptation of "John Carpenter's The Thing" wasn't here... holy crud what a disservice to a great horror film that one was! other than, spot on in all the choices... except I'd have personally dropped "Predator: Concrete Jungle" to the bottom 3 based on my experience with it; but again, just me!
The Resident Evil games really don't do the movies justice. They don't even have Mila Jovovich in them!!
Thr '84 Evil Dead game would be far more deserving a spot on tbe list.
Also, Bram Stoker's Dracula for Sega CD and it's even more abysmal Amiga port, that should reslly be here
I may be the only person who like jaws unleashed then
Arguably the game that's closest to the spirit and feel of Jaws is Stranded Deep, because even though that game's also not ostensibly a horror game it's fucking terrifying when you're paddling through the fog being trailed by hungry sharks.
Stranded deep was ok, but Maneater was way more fun.
@@supersanic1254 Yeah, true, they just have different atmospheres. Maneater's great if you want Jaws from the shark's perspective.
I loved both SAW games wholeheartedly. Although I’m not gonna ever say that the controls or camera or anything was great about it. I just enjoyed the puzzles and absolutely love the first 3 films.
same
Disagree with Predator Concrete Jungle as a bad/mediocre game. It was awesome for the time being... and it still is until now
I feel attacked, I loved Evil Dead: Regeneration and Jaws: Unleashed, and Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddlers Green, and played it sooooooooo much as a young child and I still love those games. I played Evil Dead: Regeneration so much I could say the characters lines before they did. Fiddlers Green was the first zombie game I ever played as a kid and it always left a good lasting impression. I grew up during PS2 era of games. An era of games I still consider to be the best. Games like Ratchet and Clank (1, 2, 3, and 4), Gun, Bully, etc.
I don’t remember much about the Blair witch game, but I do remember beating it all in one sitting kinda on accident lmao
This is the first time I have seen Aliens Colonial Marines in a Triple Jump list. On Whatculture gaming they have put it in about 50 videos by now.
Top 10 games that scored 69% next!?!
I can't believe I actually played through Colonial Marines
i think if the AI was a little bit better i think the game would have been great i liked the combat and the story but yeah the AI could have been better
The first two Nightmare on Elm Street movies were considerably scary. The others I consider more comedy than horror
I'm a pretty big fan of the Evil Dead games even though all them are flawed I can't imagine why you would choose the best of the three to be on the list. Regeneration blows Fistful of boomstick and Hail to the King out of the water as far as quality goes.
Blair Witch came out in 1999 not 1997
Evil Dead Regeneration might be an average game, but the writing and character work elevate it. You would've been better served putting Hail to the King from PS1/DC in its place. That was genuinely bad...and The Thing on PS2/Xbox was pretty good, too
Bram Stoker's Dracula on the SNES/Megadrive was pretty terrible, the film good though.
I liked Blair Witch a lot, that ending got freaking wild haha
I agree. It was especially good for an indie game.
I think putting NES and Atari games on this list is kinda dumb. People are nostalgic for that era, but how many Atari games would you really choose to play over modern games?
Or even the NES, which had a lot better games (I’d even argue games like Castlevania and Mario 3 hold up well) but still had a bunch of games that were basically shovelware that are even worse when you consider it’s aged 20-30 years. Even classics like Metroid and Zelda really don’t hold up at all and are moreso stepping stones that we can look back on to see how far they’ve come.
My point is, yea, Halloween on the Atari is bad, but it’s about as good as any other Atari game, regardless of whether AVGN covered it or not.
Wasn't the game of The Thing supposed to be pretty good?
I also liked Concrete Jungle, im seeing a pattern here lads lol
Concrete jungle was great, the biggest issue was the camera, I don't understand how you couldn't understand the story, the predator had to stop humans using predator technology, it's not difficult, did you even play the game?
I liked Jaws Unleashed on Xbox. I remember it also playing nicely as well as looking alright for the time
69%? Nice
Nice.
I didn't play Aliens: Colonial Marines until after it had been "fixed", however I genuinely enjoyed it quite a lot. I should go back and play the original release to see how bad it was then, though.
I played it both pre and post patch. It is night and day for sure. I am wondering when Triple Jump played this, because his comments about it make it seem like they didn't play it at all, definitely not post patch.
i enjoy firday the 13th. its not amazing, but its compelling to explore the camp while worrying about the campers. Its a good challenge, even though i havent completed it
I loved Jaws unleashed back then, I bought it off ebay a couple months ago and damn it was sad
Okay, for a game I played on GameCube, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory wasn't bad.
Wouldn't say Jaws is a horror film; horror is more supernatural or paranormal & I don't think the shark is possessed or otherworldly
Nice twist, this list!
I actually quite enjoyed Concrete Jungle at the time.
I'm not surprised about the triple jump tower, since all men AND women live in ether a tower or a castle in England
The blair witch game was amazing
Friday the 13th on NES is fucking amzing
At least Jaws Unleashed paved the way for Maneater.
Not sure Aliens fits into the horror genre either; it's in the Terminator & Predator stable - more action/thriller type films I'd say
Personally, I actually like playing Colonial Marines, I think it is even better than other movie games such as Jaws Unleashed (gameplay wise).
Evil Dead: Regeneration's one of my favourite games!
As a 6/10 game, Evil Dead Regeneration is the literal king of shit mountain. The games that came before it are...just so much worse. One's a crappy RE knockoff, the other makes the boomstick your default weapon, and completely neuters it. Oh and it has unlimited respawning enemies and VERY limited ammo.
Evil dead regeneration and fistful of boomstick were low budget games with low sale prices. They were ok for what you spent. Evil dead hail to the king was hot garbage. You picked the wrong game, damn it.
Agreed
Should have picked Evil Dead from 1984. THAT was hot garbage. Hail to the King not so much as it falls into the same catagory as the other two that were later released.
Gotta be honest here - I liked Concrete Jungle quite a bit. Guess I'm utterly alone on this one. Let's call it a guilty pleasure :P
definitely not alone friend
@@TheLastEnenra :D the story and each hunt were awesome! Maybe the controls are a bit clunky, but it just seems the game got a bad rep and never managed to shake it off :P
Evil Dead Regeneration is actually a good game I think people that are hating this Instalment must been on crack The worse Tie In Game is Probably Hail to the King in the PS1
How dare you call The Thing's game crappy!
Land of the dead was the shit back in 05!! Now its terrible and aged horribly but back then it was fun and scary
Blair Witch... was not a critical darling
They really picked the least worst of all of the Evil Dead games for this list.
If Jaws is horror, so is Jurassic Park. And Jurassic Park is NOT horror.
I actually like Friday The 13th and A Nightmare On Elm St on NES. I also thought the Predator game was ok.
Thank God they are comming out with Aliens: Fireteam Elite to make up for the dumpster fire that was Colonial Marines.
How many of these have you guys played for “worst games ever?”
As a kid, I tried playing Friday the 13th on NES, even at 8 years old I knew it was hot garbage
Worst horror movies inspired by great horror games
Evil dead regeneration is much better than fist full of boomstick
I loved jaws the game so much as a kid 😭
Blair Witch Project came out in 1999
I was hoping someone caught this
Indeed, how hard is it to Google?
Dead by Daylight should be on this list, cheers.
I thought everyone loved Jaws Unleashed as I do =(
The fuck? Concrete Jungle was an amazing game.
Bruce campbell is a god
Could have at least mentioned the Jaws game for the NES...
The worst Jaws game was on NES. That game was horrible. Then again, it was LJN, so I guess that's expected.
I thought Blair Witch was pretty good. Creepy but had some problems. Not bad for a small team
Land of the dead: road to Fiddlers green might be the worst and nonsensical title ever. Also, love this list
The Saw films are more slasher/thriller type films
Saw had better be on this list...
Edit: *Whew*
