    Good video . If the metal ring wont budge it is easily defeated by gently heating the cap and softening the plastic ring . Of course the metal and plastic rings will have to be replaced . I like to grease the impeller and housing before reinstallation . Be careful when reassembling the pump housing the wavy washer goes in the middle .

    Thanks! Question, I have a 2010 F150 that gets overheat alarm only at idle speed after about 5 mins of idle. Pee stream is going OK, but maybe takes longer to get started. My boat is used in fresh water, clean lake, water is on "hard" side (some lime). So this looks like bigger job than changing the PRV (Poppet) valve and also the thermostat. What order would you (or readers) start changing these parts? I'd like to start with the most likely culprit, obviously.

    • @THEBIGA2300

    Is there anyway to test the new impeller you just put on to make sure it’s working before you make a long drive to the water? I bought some muffs but they don’t seem to work, I also put the bottom part of the motor into a storage container and filled it with water it barely covers the black screens on the bottom of the motor but no water is coming out not sure if the water should be any higher or if I didn’t do a great job on my impeller install?

    • @THEBIGA2300
      @THEBIGA2300  Před 2 lety

      Yes there is a way to test it but you will need a container that will totally submerge the lower unit for it to pick up water like it’s supposed to. I have a plastic barrel that I can use for mine like that and they also make a heavy duty rubber bag that you can fill up and flush them. The black screens on the lower units are just for water pickup once you are up to speed. Good luck

      Depends on the weight of your boat. I have a 23p on my ranger fish and ski. 21p might be better. Maybe in your case a 19p would do if it's a heavy boat or a different prop altogether. It's it's a 4blade, try a 3. Hope this helps.

    • @ronkelly7894
      @ronkelly7894 Před rokem

      @@htownsfinest87 I’ve been told the the flush port does not put any water to the impeller. This is why you are never supposed to start your motor when hooked up to your flush port or you can burn up your impeller. Now if you’re out far and your water pump fails, I guess you are going to be replacing your impeller anyway so maybe you’ll be fine to get you back.
