    14:40 my advise is each time you change the impeller remove and re grease the woodruff key. If you don't and years down the track you need to change the drive shaft seals below the impeller you'll regret not having done so.

    If you tilt motor up and take out drain plug then put pipe on it and lower it you won’t get any oil anywhere. Works great.

    Suggestion.. as with a car I would recommend always loosening fill holes before opening drain holes to make certain you can refill. Yes, I’m aware that Yamaha lower units are refilled via the drain hole but you need the fill hole open to ensure you’ve refilled the lower unit correctly.

    there is 3 washers on the waterpump. not giving you a hard time but i dont want ppl having extra parts and not knowing where they go or not having enough like on the waterpump in this video. there is 2 flat washers and a wavy washer that goes in between them. might want to edit this video and add a caption to the correct stuff. great job otherwise.

      Thanks man! Yeah I found it a little annoying that you had to watch eight different 45 minute long videos to do this, I figured it would be nice to have it all in one very condensed yet fully detailed video.

      Congratulations!, I should be making a few more videos this year, thermostat, spark plugs and any other kind of maintenance I do on the boat... I think I mentioned it in the video, but I do all my own maintenance save time, and to get the job to a higher standard. There's obviously the bonus of saving money, which in turn can be used for beer money or gas LOL

      Awesome, thanks for watching. Hope it helps. Only word of caution is be very careful not to twist it during the first 2 in of removal otherwise you will break off the tiny plastic speedo knob... Ask me how I know LOL.
      Might be worthwhile just to pick one of those up before you start, they're like $2

    good video mate ,that would be the cleanest gear oil i have ever seen just a couple of points you might want to look at as i didnt see them done ,grease your gear shaft splines and also your drive shaft splines dont get any on top of either shaft also a smear of grease on the bolts will make sure they come out easy next time ,normally i would insert the steel cup into the plastic housing first but either way whichever you prefer and finally you went all the way with the waterpump and didnt replace the key not saying it wont be okay but dong a video probably should have anyway god video a tip on changing your oil use a 14mm barb fitting on a length of hose raise your engine remove plug fit hose lower your engine drain into pan .

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  Před 11 měsíci +1

      That's a great tip on the engine, I'll definitely try that next time cuz always sucks having to clean up a little oil that spills
      I did use anti-seize on the foot bolts and I've changed props a couple times this season just to try to find the perfect one. Thanks for watching, I appreciate the comment

    Really liked the video. Thank you so much! I am looking at buying a boat that is 2016 and has a Yamaha F150. It only has 64 hours on the engine. Do you think that low of usage would be a concern for a Yamaha F150 that is 8 years old?

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  Před 4 měsíci

      It's good that you're cautious with low hours, a lot of people will use low hours to overlook a regular inspection, I've seen engines with 1500 hours look and run brand new, and I've also seen some very low hours that were just trash because they didn't properly take care of them.
      Just make sure that it's been properly cared for especially when stored, I fog my cylinders the last time I shut it down for the winter. Ask questions, do some stereotyping to see if it's an knowledgeable or experienced owner... about how he flushes the motor, and make sure you take it out on a sea trial.
      Good score though to find a good condition one was such low hours

    I would’ve thought you would put a bit of grease on all bolts that were removed and replaced, and the reason you don’t fill the gear case from the top hole is it gets an air lock

    Why not do the spark plugs for your yearly service as well?

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  Před měsícem

      My manual says "inspect spark plugs, replace if necessary" . In addition, in fact there is a list of about 10 addition items that a listed the same way. One that is probably most debatable is the thermostat. it is listed as a replace every 100hrs or yr. some do it, many extend the interval longer. I do mine every other.
